Eddie and I do all the cleaning and preparations ourselves. We will take every precaution to make sure The Bunkhouse is safe, secure and clean for your visit with us.

At 308 sq ft, The Bunkhouse is a cozy separate structure with a keyed private entrance, outdoor seating area with fire pit and bbq grill. Inside, a comfy queen bed, double futon, chair with ottoman, 50” Roku TV, table with two benches and breakfast bar with two stools. It is best suited for two adults and two children. Four adults will be tight. So please keep that in mind when booking.

The kitchenette is equipped with mini refrigerator, hot plate, toaster, coffee maker, electric skillet, waffle iron, microwave and outside bbq grill. Additional small kitchen appliances available upon request. We provide coffee, tea, hot chocolate, pancake mix, oatmeal and basic condiments. We also provide pots, pans, plates, cups, mugs and utensils.

Our home is located on the same property as The Bunkhouse so we will be available, in person or by phone, to answer any questions you may have and address any issues promptly.

The Bunkhouse is located on historic dairy farm land on the Verde River greenbelt so there is a lot of trees and grass. We are a safe and secure gated community with great neighbors. There are kids and pets, so please drive slowly on our single lane country road. The speed limit is 15 mph max and no more than 5 mph in our driveway. These speed limits will be enforced.

As our guest, you will have access to our front pasture which has a play ground area with picnic table. Additional seating available upon request.

Miles Away from the Ordinary

Mescal Canyon Retreat is an integral part of our 22 acre property nestled in a small valley in the High Desert of Central Arizona. We are in the heart of Verde Valley Wine Country, only 18 miles outside of Sedona.

The space
The entire property is “off the grid” which means we produce all our electricity from solar energy. All our buildings have been built with natural, green and sustainable materials. We have a large organic garden, a small flock of chicken and a 100-vine vineyard. The property has a collection of buildings that have been hand built by myself and Andrea over the 39 years that we have called this land our home. There is our Main House, the Casita where our caretakers reside, 2 B&B Rooms with the adjacent Canyon Studio, a Hot Tub and Hot Tub Terrace, a Massage Studio, Workshop and Dance Space (Cedar Studio) and my Architecture Office. The property is bordered on 3 sides by National Forest and the remaining side is private land. We are located at the end of the road at the mouth of Mescal Canyon.

The Gold Room is comprised of a private bedroom with a king size bed and bathroom in a hand built passive solar stone building. The room has its own A/C and heating unit so you can adjust the temperature to your preference. The room is separated from the main house by a courtyard and has its own private patio.

Adjacent to the bedrooms is the Canyon Studio. This space has a full kitchen and eating area, giving you the opportunity to prepare your own meals. As well as providing a common area for relaxing and gathering with one another during your stay. It is complete with a fireplace for the colder times of year. The Canyon Studio is also a hand built, passive solar stone building with an outdoor flagstone terrace and a beautiful view up into Mescal Canyon and Mingus Mountain.

Mescal Canyon Retreat is the perfect home away from home for an individual, or couple. It is a beautiful and private location for a romantic escape, an individual or couple looking to find peace and quiet in nature or for someone needing a getaway online work environment. We are now supported by Star-Link for our Wi-Fi access.

During your stay the Canyon Studio will be stocked with some organic breakfast staples that you can incorporate into your breakfast each morning. We provide organic coffee & teas, fresh eggs from our chickens, fruits, nuts and cereals. Full gourmet breakfasts and dinners are available at an additional charge period. Please let us know in advance, if possible, if this is something you’d like to take advantage of.

Guests have full access to the hot tub and adjoining terrace. The terrace is set up on the hill with a wood burning fireplace and breath-taking views of Mingus Mountain and up into the National Forest. On clear night the terrace is the best place on the property for star gazing.

If you are looking to take your relaxation further, Andrea is a licensed and insured Massage Therapist with 38 years of experience. She offers integrated massage to guests during their stay. Pricing is $90 for 1 hour and $110 for 1.5 hours. Guests can request an appointment and all fees are paid directly to Andrea.

We do request a minimum 3 night stay to give you the chance to really relax and soak in the beauty of the land - we are happy to accommodate longer stays.

The Guest House is part of a residence complex together with the main house, and another studio unit for guests.

The Guest House is a stand alone unit, recently updated. The Setup is an open concept with one room setup as a dedicated office space with a very nice desk and comfy chair. The other sleeping area with a King size bed shares the space with the full kitchen and dining table. There's a split unit and an electric fireplace - that has a "Heat and No Heat" Option for a cozy ambiance.

A 4k smart TV where you can connect to your streaming accounts.

All mattresses are brand new "Sealy", perfect for a good night sleep to recharge after a day of exploring.

The full kitchen has a refrigerator, stove with oven and Keurig coffee maker.

Full Bathroom has a shower/bathtub combination, sink and toilet.

Guest access
You'll have full access to the Guest House. The patio includes seating area and propane fireplace. This space might be shared with other guests that might be staying at the studio (two guests maximum).

You might get visits from the resident pet Bodhi. He is very friendly and likely to give kisses.

Located in the heart of West Sedona, you’re just a short walk from restaurants, shops, and trails. I’m happy to share recommendations to help you make the most of your time here!

The guest house is an old historic stone building and has been known to creak and groan with the wind & changes in temperature.

Heating and cooling are central and space heaters and fans are provided for extra personal comfort.
Sleeping spaces include 1 full bed in the loft, 1 queen in the bedroom and 1 queen sleeper sofa. Loft is up a very steep ladder and has a low roof.
TV uses Amazon fire stick and is not connected to cable.
Wifi is strong and is frequently used by guests for working while here.
Laundry is shared with another space and housekeeping so is available between 3-9pm and 9-11am.
We are an eco and allergy friendly household. We do not allow animals on the property (including service animals), encourage preserving lighting, cooling and heat. We offer recycling and use cloth rags and napkins vs. paper towels.

Parking is right in front of the casita at the end of a cul-de-sac. Three houses park in a similar area so pull right up to the casita.

Created by Sedona's Design Group Architects, this casita is a stunning example of thoughtful, intentional design. You will be delighted by the use of colors and natural building materials that create a home like none other!

Cozy up, read a book, and open the huge windows to let the cool Sedona air flow through the home. With a ceiling that soars high above the living room, a ceiling fan, and a ductless AC/heat system, the space is comfortable year-round.

Outside, enjoy the fresh air under the umbrella that lights up with solar-powered LED lights. There is lounge and dining seating for three, and a wood-burning fireplace (wood can be purchased from Whole Foods 1/2 mile away). There is also a propane grill for your use. Mature trees provide shade, and spectacular ivy grows up the walls of the casita.

When you first arrive, you will park in the driveway in front of the garage, and follow the flagstone path to the backyard where you will enter the casita. The owners live in the main house that is near the garage and casita, but they do not use the casita's patio.

The casita has a designated parking space on the left side of the shared fan-shaped driveway, just behind the freestanding section of the decorative metal fence. To access your private entrance, walk around the fence and follow the path to the front patio.

Other things to note
While the exterior porch and furniture are cleaned after each stay, certain times of the year may bring additional debris from weather, native plants, or pollen. For your convenience, we provide a broom and basic cleaning supplies should you wish to tidy up the outdoor space during your stay.

Please do not exceed the maximum occupancy of 4 guests at any time. Parties and smoking (indoors or on the property) are strictly prohibited. Violations will result in additional fines charged to the booking guest and forfeiture of the remaining stay without refund.

If you’re interested in early check-in, please note that we often have same-day check-outs and require time for our cleaning and maintenance teams to properly prepare the home. If early check-in becomes available, we will notify you.

For bookings longer than 14 days, a mandatory mid-stay cleaning is required and will be billed separately in addition to the standard cleaning fee.

We’re happy to consider reservation alteration requests, but we ask that they be submitted at least 14 days before your original check-in date. Approval is at the host’s discretion.

Fabulous private very large studio with kitchenette and a bathroom. Property with amazing views! Less than a mile away from Devils Bridge. Uptown, dining, shopping and hiking just 5 min away. Enjoy our salt water pool, BBQ grill, garden. The pool is shared with owners who live in the main house on property , we have a very friendly two dogs, but not to worry there is plenty of room for privacy on this four acres property. Next to the pool there is a fire pit where you can enjoy your evening and watch the sunset. Burning wood depends on local fire restrictions. Pool is open 5/1 thru 10/31.

This West Sedona location offers the most in privacy. Drive up the driveway and park. As soon as you open your car door you'll be struck by amazing views. On your right you will see a pool with a surrounding patio and a fire pit. Inside the studio there is a King size bed, a bookcase wall unit, smart TV (Netflix and Amazon) , sofa and table for two. The Kitchenette has a cook-top and a microwave, coffee maker and coffee grinder. If you open double doors it will take you to a fruit garden. Outdoors is the large courtyard with dining area and BBQ grill.

The space

All guests are welcome to enjoy our stargazing patio on the front of the house. It is fenced off if you are bringing a pet so they can run around. Dogs are welcome and there is a $65 non-refundable fee and must be in a kennel if left unattended in room.

We also have the dining room which is for all of our guests to use from 7:30am to 9pm daily

Sedona is a designated dark sky community. At night there are very few lights and if your not use to it it's hard to get around and find things. We have flashlights in all guests rooms to light your way if you walk into uptown at night. It's a very safe area so no worries there. Please turn off your entryway light once you are in for the evening.

This private Uptown, Cozy, Walk-out Basement apartment is completely separate (NO SHARED SPACE) from the main house with its own entrance. Enjoy the private patio with Hot Tub, Fire-pit, and the BEST VIEWS in Sedona! We are in the ultimate location in Sedona within walking distance of trails, the best restaurants, and the shops! NONE OF THE SPACE IS SHARED WITH THE UPSTAIRS UNIT. THE HOT TUB IS COMPLETELY PRIVATE AND THE UPSTAIRS UNIT HAS THEIR OWN HOT TUB/FIRE PIT AS WELL.

The fully equipped kitchen offers a space to cook and enjoy delicious meals before relaxing in the luxurious and comfortable living room. Sunlight bursts through the many large windows which brighten the freshly painted walls and new, plush furniture, providing an idyllic experience.

Road Construction Update:
5/2/25: The road is now paved, and there is no more dirt path or tractors on the way to the home. Road work is fully complete by this home and is now only up the road.

-Please do not set the AC lower than 75. It will freeze and stop working.
