- "Third time staying here! Love the house - perfect location in beautiful Beaumaris. House is well equipped, very clean and the interior is well designed and decorated." - "The cottage is in great location. Extremely clean lovely decor and garden. Would certainly recommend" - "We stayed at the property for 4 nights with our dog. The cottage is situated close to the centre of Beaumaris. The cottage was clean and tidy with everything on hand that we needed. It also has a lovely private enclosed garden and yard. The only thing that may cause a problem for some guests is the lack of parking at the property. We ended up having to park someway up the main road. On street parking in Beaumaris is limited as there are yellow lines everywhere. All in all a great place for a short break. We would stay at the cottage again."

The location is superb and within easy walking distance of the town which has a great selection of eateries and watering holes. We found the Liverpool arms to be excellent and also the Indian restaurant in Church road. The facilities in the bungalow were spot on and it was extremely clean and homely. We were able to explore the island and found the beach at Newborough and the nature reserve with its herd of wild horses wonderful. We also visited the museum and geology shop at Stone Science which we found most interesting. Bangor and Snowdonia are within easy driving distance and we were able to visit the Mountains and partake in a bit of strenuous exercise a good excuse for crossing the Menai Straits on one of the 2 bridges always an enjoyable experience. - "Second time at Blue Sails The only problem is the dog who loves the place so much she wants to sit on the beach in the middle of the night to watch the wildlife. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo" - "Blue Sails is a great place to relax. Excellent owners. Our only issue is with the Sand Fleas. These come out at about 5pm and if you don't have doors and windows shut you'll spend your time squatting them inside. These are the only reason that will put us off going back. There were 1000s of the little buggars and they jump all over the patio, grass, house. The back of the property also needs an outside light but I think that this may attract more of the little nippers! Overall a great place. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo"

Guest Reviews:

- "House was perfect for 4 adults and 2 young children in terms of space. The weather was kind so we hardly used the inside sitting room during the day. Bedrooms and bathrooms were exactly what we needed. The stone floors were easy to sweep. We had outdoor space for playing and barbecue facilities. Anne Marie was a very communicative host and responded quickly to messages. To improve our stay.... curtains rather than blinds in the bedrooms. Our stay was early August so very light nights! And some basic provisions like a dishcloth, teapot and a coffee cafetiere would be nice! (There is a pod coffee maker with a few of the pods) Other holiday makers have mentioned the outdoor space and we did have visits from next-doors dogs as they can wander around the whole grounds. This wasn't an issue for us but others may be uncomfortable with it so would need to be aware."

- "Very happy that I chose Preswylfa for a long weekend with my dog. The cottage was perfect for what we needed, lovely and warm inside even though the wind was howling outside much of the time! Jean and Simon, the owners were just next door - not overlooking, but nearby if needed. They suggested some nice places to visit and routes to take and left a lovely welcome basket including some honey from their own beehives. The nearby town of Benllech is well worth a visit, and I'd advise checking the times of high tide so that you can work out the best times for walking on the immense sandflats of Red Wharf Bay. Guest Reviews:

- "Good central location and unlike some properties we have stayed in before in the town off street parking was easy to find. The property has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Niggles were few. Outside area does not match the interior in terms of standard and would benefit from a washing line. In fact the lack of a dryer facilities does not let it down a bit. Also the lack of a coffee machine. It may not sound much but other properties we have stayed in the town have had one. In a crowded market it is these small touches that make a difference. Otherwise a lovely well decorated property with a short walk into town."

Menai Gardens
Cottage
Anglesey

Menai Gardens
With access to mature gardens and a path to the beach at the bottom of the garden, you know you are going to relax at Menai Gardens. Stop awhile and take in the spectacular views of the Menai Strait and Snowdonia beyond. Breathe.

The space
Menai Gardens wishes you to relax and an annex it may be but in name only. A private drive and entrance ensures your privacy but it is lovely to know the owners are nearby for the local knowledge you may wish to hear. You can relax here as there is nothing small about Menai Gardens. A large main bedroom with a bed of kingsized proportions grabs the views for you. Open the doors to the terrace and sit out as the sun rises or the moon takes over. Peace abounds.

Choose to cook in the fully equipped kitchen or light the bbq to cook locally caught fish. Or skip this part and head into Beaumaris to be thoroughly spoilt - cooking is not for everyone.

Before you go out, take your time and draw a deep bath - lie back and forget the troubles of every day living.

A large sitting room with views to write home about allows you a sofa each. Or should you wish for friends to join you, a sofa bed becomes a bed for sleepy heads. The dining table takes pride of place and makes the most of those amazing views. Try and concentrate on your morning paper by all means - we challenge you!

Penmon and beyond
Dogs will be in heaven at Menai Gardens as there is no delay to walks. The car is not needed should you wish to truly relax. Heavenly Penmon is on your doorstep with the Anglesey Coastal Path leading you to pebbled beaches and views of Puffin Island. Stop awhile on the shores as you stroll to Penmon Priory, drop a coin in the wishing well and search for doves from years gone by. The Pilot House Cafe is a dog-friendly treasure of delight with home baked cakes, lunches and a log burning stove to warm you should the dogs allow. How easy can life be?

Nearby is White Beach, part of a nature reserve with nesting birds and perfect for wild swimming. Join the Anglesey Coastal Path to Red Wharf Bay from here - a day trip worth packing a picnic lunch for.

Walk up to Aberlleiniog Castle and onto Llangoed, enjoying this nature reserve as well. Home to the Massey sisters, you can see why these artists loved living here.

Once relaxed, and ready to face the car again, it's an easy drive to the Georgian coastal town of Beaumaris with shops and restaurants aplenty. A castle to explore and a gaol to ensure you feel grateful that you have been good! History enthusiasts will be enthralled by all they see. It was converted to a high quality holiday home in around 1985, just before it was acquired by the current owners who have continued to improve and update the Grade 2 listed cottage to its beautifully appointed standard. Many that stay class it as a home and not just a 'holiday cottage'.

It has been awarded 4 Stars by Visit Wales for self catering accommodation.

The Smithy is situated in the quiet hamlet of Llanfaes that is about 1 mile from Beaumaris on the Island of Anglesey, North Wales.

Accommodation

Ty Gwyn-Llanddona beach at the end of the garden.
Cottage
Anglesey

Wind your way down to the beach past the patchwork farmland and rolling hills of unspoilt Llanddona to arrive at Tÿ Gwyn. Perched on the edge of the beach, this semi-detached and beautifully converted former stone barn offers an abundance of peace and incomparable views.

The space
A vast sky hangs above and the light changes by the minute. When the sun shines, you can be on the beach in minutes or explore the island with Tÿ Gwyn as your base. Children (and dogs!) will love the ice cream bothy on the beach. When it rains, you fire up the wood-burner and watch ships pass by through the vast windows, as the weather puts on a show just for you. As dusk falls, you can recline on the sheltered veranda and watch the sun go down.

Interiors of wood, brick and stone have a cool, uncluttered design – a warm mix of old and new that works perfectly. The smart soft grey sofa sits harmoniously in the airy open plan sitting room with a fully equipped kitchen on hand. A long dining table is great for eating together, overlooking the coastal views. You may just prefer fresh langoustines cooked on a barbecue and washed down with bubbly outside in the garden!
