Fish or swim from the dock. "The Pickled Pike" sleeps up to 6 guests - Master Bedrooms has a queen bed, Bedroom 2 has 2 twin beds that can be made into a king. New sofa sleeper in the living room. Remodeled cottage with three bedrooms, bedrooms 1 and 2 each with full size beds are located on main floor. Upstairs, bedroom 3 has two full size futons. An additional futon is available in an open room. Kitchen and bath remodeled in 2016. New carpet, linoleum and hardwood floors. Upstairs was recently updated spring 2019. Indoor dining area seats 6 people comfortably although you could fit up to 8. Outdoor patio set can seat up to 8 - 10. Bathroom has shower only, no tub. Boat dock is at least 150' or more, depending on season and will accommodate two boats.

Window air conditioners added in Spring 2019.

During July and August there is a minimum rental of 7 days, Sunday to Sunday.

Quaint and cozy property offering 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths with open floor plan throughout the dining room, living room and kitchen space with vaulted ceilings. Rustic cabin situated on the canal just houses from the lake! Enjoy lake views from your front deck with plenty of space to dock your pontoon and water toys. Newly renovated laundry room. Great for fisherman, hunters and families. Easy access to ORV trails and lake access 1 block away for ice fisherman.

The lake can be quite shallow at times just outside of our canal. We can't control the lake level or Mother Nature. It usually is plenty deep for a pontoon or an average fishing boat however you will probably have to tilt your motor up. Stay in the center of the canal and head straight out into the lake until you are in at least 3 feet of water.

Renters are expected to fill out the rental agreement with the host and return to the host before rental begins.

We have a Ring Doorbell camera by the front entrance for security purposes.

Our cottage features over 1,000 sq feet of living area featuring lake view from the kitchen, dining area and living room.

Located a few houses from the water with road end access to the lake, makes an ideal home for nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts alike. Take a paddle on the two provided inflatable stand up paddle broads (life vest need to be with you while using) or bring your boat, kayaks, snowmobile, jet ski, or UTV for endless adventures, or explore Roscommon State Forest Area. When the sunsets on a day's activities, retreat to the cozy interior for a home-cooked meal and unwind with a bonfire or watching the smart TVs.

About the space

Begin your escape with no-contact keyless entry. Go ahead and hang your bag in the entryway and go explore the house. You’ll even find a convenient charging station for your phone and other electronic devices and relaxing bedrooms. Later, you can return to the spacious living room for a little friendly competition or some quiet conversation or to relax with a good movie. If you must work we have high-speed internet.

In the family room, relax on our comfortable reclining couch while you take in your favorite TV show or movie on the Roku TV or challenge each other with a broad game. Enjoy the ambience of the electric fireplace, which also provides extra warmth during the colder months of the year. Enjoy hanging out in the family room enhances your ability to create some great memories.

Craft culinary delights in the fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove/oven, refrigerator, and microwave. You’ll also find a toaster, blender, and even a crock-pot. You’ll have everything you need to prepare and serve your favorite meals. You’ll even find a variety of oils, spices, cooking spray and plastic bags and wrap so you don’t have to buy those items. Grab your morning beverage from our drip coffee maker (with coffee, creamer and sweeteners) or a single cup with the Keurig machine (with a starter k cup and tea supplies) and sip it on the front patio with views of the lake. Dine at the pub table which has seating for 4 (2 additional foldable bar stools available for a tight squeeze) and enjoy your meal. Most days you can do what many of our guests prefer and dine outside on the back patio and cook on the propane grill. You can pick up groceries at one of the nearby stores – I prefer curbside pickup from Walmart. Or if you don’t want to cook, savor a great meal at one of the many restaurants in the area. Ask us for some recommendations.

As you step outside, you’ll be able to enjoy our entertaining. Choice from the lakeview front patio or the back patio with a bon-fire.

The area is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Take a walk through the neighborhood with multiple road end access with light house view or on some of the other nearby trails. Play golf at one of the courses in the area. Take a paddle on the two inflatable paddle broads with life vest provided or bring your boat or kayaks (rentals available in the area) and spend your day out on the water. There of several UTV trails in the area that you can access from the house using back roads to get there. There are several parks with beach and pavilion close by with facilities for the entire family. Or make this your base for visiting the many other attractions in Houghton Lake.

After a full day of enjoying all the area has to offer, or just hanging out at your home base taking advantage of all the fun things to do, head for a restful night’s sleep in bedrooms.

The primary bedroom features a queen bed along with plenty of storage space in the closet with full length mirror, and bedside tables with lamps touch lamps with charging plugs. Curl up with a good book in the comfortable bed or watch TV on the Roku TV.

The second bedroom features a full over full bunk bed, touch wall lamps in each bunk, and a side table with charging stand for your electrics. You’ll have plenty of room to store your luggage in the closet or on the luggage rack. Relax in bed and watch TV on the Roku TV.

Refresh and rejuvenate in the common bathroom which offers a tub/shower combo and all bathroom essentials (hair dryer, towels, makeup towels, toiletries, and more).

You’ll love the convenience of the laundry area with washer, dryer, and supplies.

Seasons:

Winter: attend Tip up Town (in Jan), walk to ice fish, bring your snowmobiles or ORV, head to the Cross-Country ski headquarters, and so much more!

Spring/Summer/Fall: swim, fish, or bring up your kayak, boat, or ORV! After coming in off the lake or trails, kick back in the comfortable living room or lounge in the back yard. Grab a seat around the fire pit and make some S'mores!

A/C/ heat mini split (Apr-Oct) and central heating provided (winter months)!

Guest has access to the entire house and property. The only exception is there are two locked cabinets (cleaning supplies) located in the bathroom and kitchen.

Find Lakeview Escape, nestled in the Heights neighborhood among other cottages and houses on the Southwest of Houghton Lake, MI. Cabin located just a short drive away from restaurants and other amenities!

*Lot - Cozy small lot with parking for 3 vehicles or 2 vehicles and a trailer. The back yard is open and meets up to other neighbors' property. The back yard provides a nice space to hangout and have bonfires.

*External security camera present- Three cameras for security. Two cameras are located on the back of the house, facing the driveway/side of house/ road. A third camera is located on the front of the house, facing the front yard/lake. All cameras are on, work, & actively record video/audio. No cameras record interior spaces.

*Privacy/ Neighbors- There are houses on all side of the home. Neighbors are super close- about 20ft. away. No loud music or parties. This is NOT considered a "secluded" property.

*As the cottage is near the water, you may encounter bugs. Keeping our door lights off when not in use and doors closed when possible helps keep them outside!

*Lake View - sit on the front patio furniture; enjoy the breeze, lake view, and sunsets.

* Lake Access - located just a few homes approx 300' from the water! The lake is accessible via the public, road-end, lake access!

- "This was our first family getaway and the Hendershott House blew it out of the water! The house was so welcoming we knew we were on vacation as soon as we opened the door. It literally had everything you could think of and the only thing we needed to get was food! My kids loved hanging out in the gaming room with the garage opened! We walked every night to the end of the road and they went in the water to splash around. The first part is rocky so I would recommend water shoes (both kids cut up their feet the first time). It was wonderful to watch the sunset! <3 the drive to Higgins Lake South State Park was only 20 minutes and it's situated right in between many restaurants and shops! - "We stayed for a weekend with my cousin and our teenage daughters..all had a great time. The neighbor lady, Carol was very sweet and helpful if we needed anything during our stay. Tim was a great host and answered all our questions. It has a small log cabin getaway vibe, some great furnishings, comfy beds, very clean and neat place. This house has everything you need and more. The photos do not do it justice, very cute and although small…feels spacious. A new gas grill outside, a fire pit, and a short walk to the end of the road with lake access. We rented a pontoon boat at Brian’s marina- was so fun we docked it at LimberLost and had lunch on the patio. We went to swim at the beach one day at the township park ~5 min drive- a nice close spot with pavilion and playground. Recommend highly! We want to come back and stay... Thank you Tim."

Fall and Winter activities include hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. The home is perfectly located to enjoy Tip Up Town!

The space
Romanski Retreat features a welcome area with all house information, a local guide for your convenience and a place to chill your beverages. The home has 2 bedrooms, one being a bunk room that sleeps 6 and a master that sleeps 2. There is 1 full bath with an extra large shower and a built-in hairdryer. The living room has a couch with a chaise and converts into a full-size bed to sleep two extra guests. There is a large flat screen with Roku available as well as a variety of board games and books. The full sized kitchen is equipped with all major appliances, a duel coffee maker that makes a full pot or individual cups, a dishwasher, and all things needed to make any meal. There is also a charcoal grill available outside for a BBQ!

Other things to note
The home comes with a dining table and chairs on the back deck as well as lounge seating to enjoy the fresh air. There are additional camping chairs, beach chairs, life jackets, sand toys, and a cooler for adults and children located in the shed. Cornhole boards are also located in the shed for you to enjoy. There is a pack-n-play located in the bunk room for families traveling with little ones, and a portable high-chair!

- "My family stayed at Romanski for three days over the Fourth of July; there were 7 of us in total. Though the cottage is small, there is a ton of charm, sleeping arrangements were easy due to a room with two bunk beds, and they have one of everything. Want a wine cooler? Got it. Keurig? Yep. Porch seating with a pergola and an outdoor fan? Fire pit? Charcoal grill? Kids toys? Fully stocked kitchen and grilling utensils? Children's plates? They have that too. Just about the only thing Romanski doesn't have is central air. However, they do provide several tilt-adjustable floor fans that worked some magic for us during our stay. We also brought a box fan and placed that in the front window of the living room which really helped to keep things cooler. There is a shed in the back with even more goodies. Cornhole, kids toys, etc. The only thing anyone in our family had to say as a negative was the mattresses. The master bedroom mattress is rock-hard. Additionally, one of the bottom bunk mattresses slopes, so you find yourself rolling to one side. These were minor inconveniences to us - as we spent quite a bit of time on the back deck, grilling, or spending time nearby at Houghton Lake. I would stay at Romanski again and highly recommend it to families or groups of friends who want a nice retreat with a lot of charm."

The perk of this cabin: you won't have to carry your luggage up or down the steps to get to your cabin! Parking lot is directly in front of the home with easy access to the main road M-55. The cabin has been fully renovated with sound proofing insulation to ensure you have a peaceful stay and minimal noise from M-55.

★Spring/Summer Renters:★

☆The cabin is located at the top of a hill. There is a deck directly connected to this cabin with railing. There are a set of 30 steps adjacent to the cabin leading down to the beach & lake area (see photo) which is privately shared with all 4 other cabins on the property. This cabin would not be suitable for those with mobility limitations wanting to access the lake.
☆Dock is put in by Memorial Weekend & is typically removed after Labor Day. We have no control of when dock is put in or if it is taken out sooner than noted.

-LOCATION-

The Lake House is centrally located in beautiful Houghton Lake. There are 4 other similar beachfront cabins located on the shared area of the property. On the other side of the parking lot you can easily access M-55 which will get you just about anywhere! You are within walking distance to the "Sno-Queen" ice cream parlor, the "M55 Pour House" bar, and a Laundromat across the street. Less than 1 mile away you can go to the rustic "Pines Movie Theater" or spend a day at the "Pineview Highlands Golf Course". Most restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, and local attractions are within a short 5-minute drive.

Cute, tiny, very clean and recently remodeled houghton lake cottage. This cottage is only 525 square feet. It is a 100 yard walk down to the shared 150 feet of lake front access with a shared dock. The cottage offers an outdoor gazebo with lights, sealing fan, heater and 42in smart TV. There is a bonfire pit and lots of space for kids to play in the front and back yards. The house has one bedroom with a queen bed and smart tv. there is a set of bunkbeds off the living room and kitchen. the living room has a pull out sleeper sofa in it that will sleep two people. The cottage has air conditioning. There is a bar two streets away with outside live music in the afternoon and evenings in the summer. There’s a great park on the lake a 1/4 mile from the house with a play ground and great beach for the kids. There is putt-putt, batting cages, go-carts, ice cream parlor and boat rental a mile from the cottage. This is a great vacation cottage for a small family or a couples getaway. Houghton lake offers great beaches, fishing, swimming and is an all sports lake.

Pontoon boat: the boat can be rented for an additional fee of $150 a day. renters must add their own insurance to the boat and send proof of insurance before there stay. The boat will be full of gas and must be returned with a full tank of gas or guest must pay to fill it.

golf cart: can be rented for an additional fee of $50 a day. its great for driving back and forth to the lake with kids and supplies. Also great for driving back and forth to the park and bar with are both a couple blocks away.

Our cozy two story long cabin is just 150ft off the lake and one block over from the county beach. It has a main level master and full bathroom with a fully loaded kitchen and two bedrooms upstairs. The cabin can sleep 10 comfortably and has its own fire pit.

The space
This newer log cabin with a covered porch is ready for your next vacation! Only being about 150ft off the water with lake access this cabin gives you a great lake get away experience. Along with the cabin rental comes a canoe with provided paddles and life jackets for your use and after spending time at the local beach (with boat launch) a block away you can fire up the grill or sit around the fire pit out back. Off street parking is also included with plenty of space to park a boat or 4 wheeler trailer. Being near to some of the best ORV trails in the state makes our place a hot spot for summer and winter riders. This cabin has been our family getaway for over 15 years and we can't wait to share it with you!

The house has 3 bedrooms with 1 king, 1 queen and 2 sets of bunk beds (4 twins) to accommodate 6-8 people. There is 1 full and a 1 half bath. An open floor plan of the kitchen/dining/living room area. The home is fully furnished with typical kitchen appliances plus a dishwasher and garbage disposal. A sliding door leads out to a year round sun room with a lake front view. WiFi, cable, and a DVD player are included.

You’ll even find a convenient charging station for your phone and other electronic devices and relaxing bedrooms. Later, you can return to the spacious living room for a little friendly competition or some quiet conversation or to relax with a good movie. If you must work we have high-speed internet.

In the family room, relax on our comfortable reclining couch while you take in your favorite TV show or movie on the Roku TV or challenge each other with a broad game. Enjoy the ambience of the electric fireplace, which also provides extra warmth during the colder months of the year. Enjoy hanging out in the family room enhances your ability to create some great memories.

Craft culinary delights in the fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove/oven, refrigerator, and microwave. You’ll also find a toaster, blender, and even a crock-pot. You’ll have everything you need to prepare and serve your favorite meals. You’ll even find a variety of oils, spices, cooking spray and plastic bags and wrap so you don’t have to buy those items. Grab your morning beverage from our drip coffee maker (with coffee, creamer and sweeteners) or a single cup with the Keurig machine (with a starter k cup and tea supplies) and sip it on the front patio with views of the lake. Dine at the pub table which has seating for 4 (2 additional foldable bar stools available for a tight squeeze) and enjoy your meal. Most days you can do what many of our guests prefer and dine outside on the back patio with gazebo and cook on the propane grill. You can pick up groceries at one of the nearby stores – I prefer curbside pickup from Walmart. Or if you don’t want to cook, savor a great meal at one of the many restaurants in the area. Ask us for some recommendations.

As you step outside, you’ll be able to enjoy our entertaining. Choice from the lakeview front patio or the back patio with a gazebo and bon-fire.

The area is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Take a walk through the neighborhood with multiple road end access with light house view. Play golf at one of the courses in the area. Bring your boat (rentals available in the area) and spend your day out on the water. There of several UTV trails in the area that you can access from the house using back roads to get there. There are several parks with beach and pavilion close by with facilities for the entire family. Or make this your base for visiting the many other attractions in Houghton Lake.

After a full day of enjoying all the area has to offer, or just hanging out at your home base taking advantage of all the fun things to do, head for a restful night’s sleep in bedrooms.

The primary bedroom features a queen bed along with plenty of storage space in the closet with full length mirror, and bedside tables with lamps touch lamps with charging plugs. Curl up with a good book in the comfortable bed or watch TV on the Roku TV.

The second bedroom features a full over full bunk bed, touch wall lamps in each bunk, and a office desk with charging plug for your electrics. You’ll have plenty of room to store your luggage in the closet or on the luggage rack. Relax in bed and watch TV on the Roku TV.

Refresh and rejuvenate in the common bathroom which offers a tub/shower combo and all bathroom essentials (hair dryer, towels, makeup towels, toiletries, and more).

You’ll love the convenience of the laundry area with washer, dryer, and supplies.

Winter: attend Tip up Town (in Jan), walk to ice fish, bring your snowmobiles or ORV, head to the Cross-Country ski headquarters, and so much more!

Our rental cottages are a unique set up. We offer a side by side duplex, both of which are directly on the water. This is a GREAT set up to bring the in laws or family friends. Open your front door and look out the large living room windows to the beautiful waterfront. The private lakefront consists of 75' on the water, 100' of dock, very sandy bottom great for swimming, bon fire pit and much, much more. This listing is for 1/2 the duplex, ( 1 cottage ).

As stated before, this is truly a unique set up. Bring the entire family on one side, and the in laws, friends, relatives, etc to the other side and enjoy the entire property all to yourselves. Walk to the well known Limberlost Bar and Restaurant or relax in the spacious front yard on the water and enjoy the nearby acoustic music. Great swimming, soft, sandy bottom. Great area for family or group water activities.

The cottages themselves: Each cottage consists of living area, eat in kitchen, master bedroom with a queen bed, 2nd bedroom has a full size bed as well as a set of bunk twins and a bath with stand up shower. Cottages are heated by natural gas furnace, portable air conditioning, fans, Direct TV, WI-FI, and fully stocked kitchen. All linens in bedrooms, kitchen and bath ARE PROVIDED. There is a restaurant in walking distance, a golf course within a 1/2 mile, and a public boat launch nearby. If you bring bicycles you can get to many more choices. A car would likely be the best way to get around town, as Houghton Lake is a large lake, so the business that boarder it stretch out for quite some ways. Some people enjoy boating up to local restaurants as there are a few that have docks out back for patrons to use. In winter many people snowmobile to the local stores and restaurants. Once the lake is frozen well enough, many people enjoy riding on the lake. There are also over 200 miles of trails in the county. If you web search "visit Houghton Lake snowmobiling" you will find a link to a website that will have everything you need to know about snowmobiling in this area. It is one of the BEST spots in the state to snowmobile and many of the local pubs and restaurants are snowmobile friendly. From our cottage you can take your snowmobile right onto the lake. Ice fishing is very popular on this lake and directly out from our cottage is a great spot. The lake has walleye, small and large mouth bass, northern pike, bluegill and more.

Free parking for up to two vehicles directly in front of the house, and additional parking is available in the lot across the street for up to two extra vehicles (or a trailer).

☆ Check-in is after 3:00 pm, and check-out is by 10:00 am. A late check-out fee of $100 or more may be charged for not following check-out instructions, and an additional $100 late check-out fee will be charged for every 15 minutes past check-out.

Our rental cottages are a very unique set-up. We offer a side by side duplex, both are directly on the water. This is a GREAT set-up to bring the in laws or family friends. Open your front door and look out the large living room windows to the beautiful waterfront. The private lakefront consists of 75’ on the water, 100’ foot of dock, very sandy bottom great for swimming, bon fire pit and much, much more. This listing is for entire duplex, (2 cottages).

The space
As stated before, this is truely a unique set up. Bring the family on one side and the in laws, friends relatives, etc to the other side and enjoy the entire property all to yourselves. Walk to the well known Limberlost Bar and Restaurant or relax in the spacious front yard on the water and enjoy the nearby acoustic music. Great swimming, soft, sandy bottom. Great area for family or group water activities.

The cottages them selves: Each cottage consists of living area, eat in kitchen, master bedroom with a queen bed, 2nd bedroom has a full size bed as well as a set of bunk twins, bath with stand up shower. Cottages are heated by natural gas furnace, portable air conditioning, fans, Direct TV, WiFi, fully stocked kitchen, all linens in bedrooms, bath and kitchen provided. Just come, relax and ENJOY!!!!

Remember, these are both LAKEFRONT unlike many others which may have lakefront property but set behind other cottages or have lake access. Here, the lake is truly, your FRONT YARD. 😁

Our main cottage has two bedrooms and also has many things to accommodate you on your stay. The main cottage has a full kitchen with many cooking items for you to use. This includes a microwave and and oven to cook full meals, small dishwasher to make clean up easier, comfy living room that you can can look out to enjoy the wonderful lake views. It has one bathroom with a shower and linens. Also a sunroom in the back for more to sleep or just to sit and relax!
Our guest house has one bedroom and a loft area for more to sleep. For your stay in the guest house you will have access to kitchenette with coffee maker, fridge, washer and dryer and 1 bathroom with shower and linens. Also a cozy sun room in the front to sit and enjoy after you wake up or while you wind down from a great day on the lake. Comfy seating and a table that seats 6 is available in the sunroom too.
Our cottage is located right on the lake. However it still have plenty of property to sit outside on the patio furniture, sit around a bonfire or even have access to the gas grill for all those yummy grilled foods. A private dock is accessible on the property where you are welcome to dock your own boat ( June through Sept)

Dock: Shared dock between both properties. From looking at the house from the water, Sunrise guests will use the left side of the dock.

Drugs/Smoking/Fireworks: Freshwater does not permit illegal drugs of any kind on the property. Due to the location of the properties, smoking is strongly discouraged around the home and strictly prohibited in the home. Fireworks are prohibited at a Freshwater location for the safety of all persons in and around the property, even if it is legal in that city.

Fishing: Walleye, Pike, Bass, and Bluegill are native to Houghton Lake

Snowmobiles: a person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails and thousands more miles of public roads and on public lands (where authorized). It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground. Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $75/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept dogs, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Just let us know which bed you will be using with them, and we’ll make sure it is ready for your sheets when you arrive. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed.
