This roomy, air conditioned, studio apartment is ideal for two people or two people and a young child (under 2 yrs), who are seeking very comfortable accommodations for a getaway to the outer cape and the best it has to offer. The apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood adjacent to National Seashore land and hiking trails to ponds. It is located above a detached garage but we do not keep cars in the garage so there isn't any car noise or exhaust fumes. You will have full access to the garage for secure storage and playing ping pong and a darts. We provide 2 beach chairs and an umbrella located in the garage. Guests have a private entrance and although the garage is located next to the main house, your privacy is important to us. You will have keyless entry and we sent you the code the morning of arrival. We are available through the VRBO app to help with any requests. The apartment has cathedral ceilings so it feels very roomy. - "This home is very cozy, as the description says, but you will be spending most of your time on the deck or exploring Lieutenants Island. The deck has expansive views of the bayside and harbor, with gorgeous scenes of clouds, water, and sand. Easy for kayaking and beach enjoying, Walking out 1/4 mile at low tide is really fun, our dog loved it! Given the tides and limitations of travel, you can’t pass off the island for a period around high tide, but it is great to really live by the tides on your vacation! Drew was great to work with. The kitchen is very usable. We cooked up terrific local fish on the grill easily. The family room is comfortable as well. The Wi-fi is fine, but a little limited on the island. Beautiful places to explore, very relaxed environment, and all the rest that Wellfleet has to offer also. Very memorable experience!"

The barn is just as it looks in the photos on this page - it is clean, bright, and airy. The owners have taken obvious care in making the space feel comfortable and lovely, from the paint colors to the well placed art and accents. We traveled with our 7 year old son, and he appreciated the two tree swings in the yard, as well as the platform in one of the trees. He also enjoyed choosing each night between the Harry Potter bed or the bed in the other private nook upstairs. We all enjoyed the chickens that came over to visit each afternoon! The location is perfect for us - quiet and secluded-feeling, but a short drive or bike ride from town. We are already thinking ahead to when we can book the house for next summer! "

ABOUT THE COTTAGE

Hardwood floors line the open-concept living area, and lead into both bedrooms on the main level. Sink into seating for four around the 47” flat screen TV to enjoy a movie night on Netflix or the DVD player. Sliding glass doors connect to the deck with seating for four and a grill.

The fully equipped kitchen provides an at-home option for any meal. Gather around the modern indoor dining table for breakfast, or take a seat at the island barstools for a midday snack.

The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and ample room to unpack. A second bedroom down the hall has a full-size bed. On the main floor, the first bathroom includes a walk-in shower. Downstairs, the second bathroom features a tub/shower combination.

Downstairs has a large space for the kids to play and hang out.

Extras include a washer/dryer, free Wi-Fi, and parking spaces for two vehicles. There are AC units in each bedroom (window units).

Spacious rooms for our small family and a kitchen with everything needed to make whatever we wanted. The upstairs shower was nicer than any at hotels I’ve been in! The house has two air-conditioned bedrooms upstairs and a full mostly unfurnished room downstairs and full bath that could be used as a bunkroom or playroom for small kids. We walked to town (about a mile away) and the town pier along a busy but scenic road and enjoyed taking it easy in charming Wellfleet for a long weekend. The kitchen was well-equipped for making delicious dinners from the bounty of amazing ingredients available from local farms and stores - you can find farmer's markets in Orleans on Saturday or Wellfleet on Wednesday. And Hatch's in town is the best for produce and seafood. The place is bright, sunny and the beds were comfortable. We rode the bike trail, went to the beach, and did some local hikes, including Atlantic Cedar Swamp Trail at Marconi beach. Highly recommend for a couple or family trip to Wellfleet!"

If the evening calls for dining out instead, you are a stone 's throw away from so many of the wonderful Wellfleet restaurants, with a broad variety running the gambit from simple family style through more sophisticated dining experiences. Restaurants galore are all within a few minutes drive. Do not leave the Cape without experiencing dining at Moby Dick's, which is just down the road on Rt. 6. It is an extremely popular spot well known for its excellent lobster. Though the Cape is famous for seafood, you are sure to find something to please everyone 's taste buds. And leave room to visit one of the local old fashioned ice cream shops.

Other activities - Biking, Boating, FIshing: Bring bikes or simply rent them at the nearby bike shop adjacent to the Cape Cod Rail Trail which includes Wellfleet among the six towns it runs through in its 22 miles stretch.The paved route is mostly flat and safety minded with well-marked auto crossings. Also popular with roller-blades, the route offers refreshments and restrooms at several spots. Take a break with one of the many opportunities to get off the trail and visit a beach. Other trails are available for more adventurous biking experiences.
For boating or fishing, charter any number of crafts at the Town Pier, located just down and across Rt. 6 past the town center. Launch a boat or schedule a local charter. Both freshwater and saltwater fishing is readily available. Or, you may choose to rent a sailboat and spend a leisurely afternoon on the waters. If your preference is to observe the marine life,hire a kayak or canoe to visit the salt marshes or visit them by foot at the 1.000+ acre Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.

Other Activities - Shopping, Movies: You are also located just minutes from the charming Wellfleet Center Village which features many quaint art galleries, an outdoor theater with seasonal performances, and a wide variety of delightful craft and antique shops where you can purchase that 'very unique something' . Of course, you will also find a market for essentials.
For a different type of shopping experience, try the flea market located at the Wellfleet Drive-In Theater and Multiplex just a few miles down route 6. The market is available Thursdays through Sundays and includes a multitude of vendors.
