Our Hawaiian Style Vacation Rental apartment is "Legally Operated" and sits on Kailua Beach, one of Hawaii's most beautiful white sand beaches, and rated among one of the USA's best.

The apartment is in the BACK portion of a beachfront home with it's own private entrance. This spacious room has no view of ocean, but is just steps away from the ocean shore line and large front lawn where you can relax to soak in the panoramic view of the bay. There is convenient FREE parking on driveway just outside the rental unit. The bedroom has one king-size bed and two over head ceiling fans, an 2 table fans for extra ventilation an comfort..There is a connecting private bathroom and shower supplied with bath towels sets an beach towels. The sitting room includes a couch and lounge chair with leg rest. There are 4 floor to ceiling louver windows for cool breeze flow an additional ventilation. There is NO AC.

The unit also has a large study desk / table, TV with cable, and unit is computer “WIFI” wireless ready. The kitchenette provides a microwave, large sink, Kreuig coffeemaker with 4 complimentary k-coffee cups to start tenants off, Malita coffee drip cup w/ filters, electric hot water decanter, refrigerator with freezer, toaster, dishes & drinking cups/glasses, and utensils. Tenants are responsible for their own food an beverages, and all personal soaps an toiletries.

Rental has direct side walk private access to front lawn sitting area where tenants can relax an enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of Kailua Bay and Mokulua Twin Islands with steps just at the yards corner to beach. Lounge & beach chairs and boogie boards are included for use at rental beach premise only. There are out side hose's and faucets for rinsing off sand after going to beach and swimming. We like to be based in calm with access to the ability to exit "chaos". The Tree House in Kailua is absolutely perfect in every way. The accommodations were clean, location was literally a 1 minute walk to 2 miles of the most beautiful beach in the world and located close enough to whatever. The Tree House had all that we needed! Full sized fridge, wonderful patio, well kept grounds and the perfect space. One thing to note: there is no air conditioning in the unit but there were two fans and a constant tropical breeze that took care of that. We will make this our go to location for trips to come. There is a pool and hot tub, but we didn’t end up using them during our stay. The yard is nicely landscaped, and we enjoyed listening to birds each morning. Hosts provided lots of suggestions for places to eat, and included some restaurant menus in the information binder. The unit is equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and blender - not a place to do serious cooking, but good for breakfast and heating leftovers, which was what we had in mind anyways. The kitchen is well equipped including a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, convection microwave and 2 induction hotplates. Kailua Lani is located on the owners property with a private side entrance and on site parking. Located in Kailua Town on the windward side of Oahu, just a short walk to famous Kailua and Lanikai beaches. On the way to the beach stop by Kailua Beach Center for beach rentals such as kayaks, surfboards, Segways, kite boards and windsurfers. Pick up a plate lunch, slice of pizza or a shave ice there too. Go for a morning walk on the beach with a specialty coffee from Kailua's own Kalapawai market and deli. And don't miss Buzz's Steakhouse for lunch or dinner just around the corner.

You can also walk to the heart of Kailua Town where you will find bike rentals, surf and dive shops, local restaurants and markets such as Whole Foods and many unique island boutiques. Public swimming pool, tennis courts, golf courses, parks, and hiking trails are all nearby.

The Hawaii Sheffield House Ginger Studio has a 'Secret Garden. The night lighting is enchanting. We are Located at 131 Kuulei Road in Kailua . It has a private entrance and is on the ground floor with windows opening to a tropical bank of Areca palms. The Ginger Studio has a private entrance and a private bath that has a huge walk-in shower . A breakfast bar with toaster oven and coffeemaker and under counter refrigerator is provided in the room. Check the calendar for last minute vacations or specials.

Just outside the door in the garden, is a bubbling fountain in a Chinese steamer pot. There is a comfortable queen size bed. The beach is calling and there are activities galore, a perfect Hawaii vacation. Take a beach chair and a boogie board located by the entry door and walk to Kailua Beach and enjoy some beach time.

There is an Olympic size community swimming pool and tennis courts 13 houses up the street toward Kailua Town. In the other direction is our beach access to Kailua Bay . Hike the Lanikai pillboxes, Visit our wetland, Kawainui marsh. Kailua Beach by Sheffield House is a perfect boogie board spot. Watch the kite surfers or join in. Plan an early morning walk to watch the sunrise.

The Ginger Studio and the Garden Suite 30018 can be combined to make a two bedroom two bath unit and sleep a party of five.

The Ginger Studio has a queen-sized bed with Hawaiian applique quilts and a newly remodeled private bath with a Breccia marble counter top. It has a large shower -big enough for two (no tub). It is equipped with a breakfast bar or kitchenette (No kitchen sink) with a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and under counter refrigerator and a table for two.

While it is air conditioned, ceiling fans are usually all that is needed. Evenings on the beach you will need a light sweater or jacket all year round. The Ginger Studio has an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, cable TV and wifi. There is an indoor rattan table for two as well as an outdoor table for two/three. Towels, beach towels, and paper towels are provided. At this time we are not accepting reservations which include children under the age of three in this room. .

We only accept reservations with small children when this unit is rented together with VRBO 30018. It is possible to sleep a party of 5 with adjoining VRBO 30018

Yes, we are in the tropics so you may see geckos, anoles, chameleons and flying insects. Yes, we do use pesticides.

Note that there are two coin operated laundromats within 1/3 of a mile away.

Hawaii Sheffield House is a non smoking property. The Ginger Studio is a self contained vacation rental with everything there that you might need. There is one free parking space in the driveway of Hawaii Sheffield House just steps from the entrance the Ginger Studio.
(Note: You do not have to circle the block or parking garage looking for parking.)

Sadly, at this time our street can be busier than normal. It is from time to time being used as a detour for the construction at the roundabout at the entry of Lanikai. Hopefully, by the time you read this the detour will be removed.

This one bedroom apartment sleeps 2 people. It has a King bed in the bedroom with a wall mounted flat screen TV, split AC, glass sliding doors that open to the large covered lanai and grassy back yard. There is also a living area with couch and coffee table, kitchenette with 3/4 size refrigerator and hot plate for light cooking. A microwave, coffee maker, toaster, tea kettle, and all cooking and eating dishes and utensils make the kitchen great for light cooking. The bathroom has a walk in tiled shower, and all beach and bath towels are provided. The apartment has cool ceramic tile and is decorated with crisp, clean white decor and large original prints of local scenic spots.
The apartment has its own parking, private entrance, and the large covered lanai backs onto a grassy yard.

With beautiful Kailua Beach 700 yards away, you can easily walk there in approximately 5 minutes. We provide boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, an umbrella and a cooler for fun at the beach, and we have an outdoor shower to rinse off extra salt and sand when you get home.

If you want to explore the island, this is a very convenient, central location to do it from. Waikiki, Ala Moana shopping center, Pearl Harbor, the swap meet, and Honolulu are all about 25 minutes away to the South. The North Shore is about 45 minutes away, and Ko Olina and the West side are also about 45 minutes away. Or, if you want to check out the beaches closer to home on the East side, they're all just a short drive. Lanikai Beach is less than 10 minutes away, Waimanalo Beach is about 15-20 minutes away, and of course, Kailua Beach is just a few minutes walk.

Situated down a long drive on a quiet side street, the house is private and peaceful. Landscaped with lush tropical plants and flowers, and a huge grassy lawn, this is a place you can truly relax and unwind, and really experience the laid back local lifestyle.

The Beach
A long, graceful bay protected by a coral reef is Kailua’s delight. The nearly 4-mile-long stretch of ivory sand is made for strolling, and the weather and wave conditions can be just about perfect for swimming, kayaking, windsurfing and kitesurfing. South along the shore lies the exclusive enclave of Lanikai, with million-dollar views – and mansions to match.

We would recommend a car, however Oahu is known for its amazing bus system with stops that can take you all over the island. Bus stop is just a few hundred feet away.

We ask that you do not smoke inside and please be courteous of noise after 10 PM.

- "We had a lovely month in Lanikai, staying at Noni’s artistically furnished garden suite. We could watch the sun rise from our bed , walk to either Lanikai or Kailua Beach (hence avoiding the traffic and parking challenges particularly in Lanikai ), and enjoy being in a peaceful residential neighbourhood with friendly neighbours .. We were concerned the kitchenette might be a challenge for a month’s stay , at a time of covid when we preferred not to frequent restaurants but found even in the small space , we could still , with some planning , prepare three course meals. Noni is a wonderful host , very welcoming yet respectful of our privacy , and plays a wicked game of scrabble too The location on top of a hill has an outstanding view, and although you do share the deck space (and washer and dryer), really not a problem . The cottage is equipped with a small refrigerator, dish washer, cook top, microwave, toaster, dishes and cutlery. Coffee and Tea are provided for 1st morning, but you may want to stock up on fresh produce at our local farmer's market (Thursdays and Sundays).

Help yourself to beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling masks, a SUP. Upon returning home from the beach rinse off in the hot water outdoor shower, hang your beach clothes and maybe nap to the soothing sounds of out tropical birds cooing. Afterwards you might choose to head into charming Kailua town. We have a variety of yummy restaurants at various prices and a Whole Foods!

If you choose to venture out to explore the island which is only 40 miles tip to tip Kailua is perfectly situated. We have the H3 highway, Pali highway and Like Like. As a Kama'aina I am thrilled to offer you suggestions to my favorite adventures here and off island.

The house was very comfortable with AC, a full kitchen, nice showers one inside and the other outside, a washer and dryer and a comfortable bed. Barbara was a great host always ammenable to our needs. There were boogie boards available for us to use daily. We had a parking spot and were able to walk into Kailua town. There was also a table and chairs to sit outside. I would highly recommend this guesthouse for a stay in Kailua and hope that I have an opportunity to stay there again."

Oahu’s public transportation system is TheBus. It provides regular service from Kailua to many places around the island including Waikiki and Honolulu. Most residents in this area do tend to drive cars, but the commute over the Pali Highway is challenging during the work week. Kailua is within reach of several beaches along the Windward Coast and is only a short drive from the North Shore. The town is also bike-friendly and many residents use pedal power to run local errands or head for Kailua Beach. Walking is another great way to get around. Some of the hole-in-the wall shops and vintage cafes can only be found when strolling about on your own two feet.

Visit the two-mile strip of white sand at Kailua Beach during a work day and you probably won’t have much company. But go back on the weekend and you’ll find a good portion of the town flying kites, picnicking, tossing baseballs, and getting good and wet in the surf. Fronting the beach is an expanse of lawn, plenty of shade trees, and lots of parking. Windsurfers gear up for afternoon rides when the wind picks up. Kayakers paddle from the beach out to Flat Island, a quarter-mile ride. There’s not much there except for a bird sanctuary but the snorkeling is first rate. Little kids play in the sandy shallows while the older ones try their hand at surfing. The waves are just large enough to make things interesting but gentle enough for beginners. Kaiwainui Regional Park, on the northern end of town, offers hiking trails and a chance to see some of Oahu's land-based wildlife. Golfers may tee off at the Pali Golf Course, nearby at Kaneohe. It's a public course with reasonable green fees.

Beaches are the main attraction along the Windward Coast. Waimanalo Beach Park and Bellows Field Beach Park are south of Kailua and noted for their beauty. Waimanolo Beach is 3-miles long and was used in the filming of “Baywatch” and “Magnum P.I.” Both beaches allow overnight camping. Roughly 10 miles south of Kailua is Sea Life Park. Think mainland marine park with a Hawaiian twist. Swim with dolphins, attend the Chief’s Luau or check out the Hawaiian Shark Tank. The local kids love this place just as much as the tourists. Follow the Kamehameha Highway 9 miles north and you’ll find Heeia State Park on Kaneohe Bay. This is the place to learn kayaking, stand-up paddling and catamaran sailing. Nearby vendors provide equipment rentals and lessons.

The Dolphin Suite is a small private studio (about 150 square feet) with AC. Suite is equipped with mini fridge, coffeemaker, tea kettle and tableware. Free internet access available to keep you connected to family and friends depending on your device. Hosts cannot troubleshoot connectivity.

Your suite is decorated in the colors of Hawaii's oceans, beaches and plants. The Dolphin Suite creates an ambience for a restful vacation. One private parking spot located a few feet from your door eliminates the additional expense and hassle of finding a parking spot and dealing with elevators in high-rise hotels. The pathway to the Dolphin Suite is "cobblestone" so it is a bit uneven and bumpy which may cause some mobility issues. Other guests use this path to get to their place which is behind the Dolphin Suite. You may hear them walking past. The large private bathroom hosts a walk in shower and handmade shell mirrors add to the decor.

While the Dolphin Suite is attached to the main home, there is a private entrance allowing you to come and go as you please. We understand the damage pesticides have caused to our fragile planet so we use an organic spray outdoors every few months to keep the occasional ant or bug at a minimum. Please know that geckos (Hawaiian house lizards) are very common. They do not hurt you nor is it a sign of uncleanliness. They eat the mosquitos and we are appreciative of that. Your vacation in Hawai'i is one to be enjoyed and if the occasional ant or gecko may be disruptive to you, you may want to look at a hotel or other accommodation. We want you to take home positive memories of your time with us and in Hawai'i. The hosts live on the property and value our guests privacy and keep interactions to a minimum. Kailua is about a 30-60 minute drive from Honolulu International Airport depending on traffic. With public transportation this takes about 1 hour - 90 minutes and requires a bus transfer to make connection to Kailua. While Kailua is easy to navigate by foot and we are conveniently located, a rental car is recommended if you choose to venture and explore other parts of the island.

Free WiFi and a cable service equipped 50” smart TV, invite you to watch your favorite shows from the clean and comfy seating area. The TV is on a swivel so you can turn and adjust it to your liking. There is a gray love seat and regular size gray sofa plus gray side chair for seating. Two small side tables and a coffee table with lamps are included in the living room area.

The separate master suite is behind two large privacy doors. The suite has two blue Balineses side tables with reading lamps flanking a large, extra comfy memory foam king sized bed. The King Bed has a stately headboard and footboard with additional storage in the footboard area. There is a 5 drawer vertical dresser for storing clothing. We also have provided an additional desk, chair and lamp for additional work space. Hangers are provided in the large closet.

The quiet split A/C unit and ceiling fan in the bedroom keeps the room cool and serene. From bed, you can watch the ensuite 43" 4K TV or peer out two large windows into your private garden courtyard seating area. The bedroom has dark wood blinds that keep the room nice and dark when you prefer to sleep in.

Double sliding mirrored doors reveal a huge closet space with shelving to unpack and unwind. It is filled with all kinds of room amenities including bath towels, wash clothes, beach towels, toilet paper, additional bedding, a hair dryer and laundry soap.

The large ceiling fans in both rooms, the window A/C in the living room and the split A/C unit in the bedroom keep the whole suite feeling fresh and cool.

Laundry needs are met by the new front loading washer and dryer. We also provide an iron and ironing board.

Our bathroom is Wet room style with a dual shower head. This means the bathroom encompasses the toilet, pedestal sink and shower in one all encompassing space surrounded by gray slate tile, pebble stone tile flooring and teak louvred windows for air flow. We provide body wash, shampoo and conditioner. There is a shower stool should you need one. There is also a handrail on the wall should you need it.

It is a 5 minute walk to one of the nicest and quietest areas of Kailua beach, consistently rated as one of the world’s top beaches. We provide 2 beach chairs and 2 boogie boards. Walking the long stretch of Kailua beach is highly recommended for daily exercise or just an enjoyable day out in the fresh air especially during low tide.

When you return home from your day at the beach, there is a private outdoor hose area to rinse your feet, body and beach toys.

We are just a short 5 minute drive to Lanikai Beach and hiking at the Lanikai Pillbox for sunrise is a must!

We are also close to Kailua Beach Center where you can enjoy a world famous shave ice treat and get beach rentals of all kinds such as bikes, kayaks, surfboards, Segways, kite boards, windsurfers, and stand up paddle boards.

There is ample parking and we are located in a mature and quiet neighborhood.

We welcome families and children, however, the sleeping accommodations are one, comfortable queen-size bed. I do have air mattresses if needed.

Feel the aloha in this very large Sunny Studio. Situated on a dead end street, there is Off-Street street parking and no through traffic. At night you hear the breeze and smell the plumerias and crown flowers (unless you prefer the air conditioning- Solar powered). No horns, no revving motors, no motorbikes.
Kailua is small enough for quiet, yet only 25 minutes to all the nightlife you could ask for in Waikiki. On the Windward side, Kailua is very green and cooler than the hotter Honolulu side. Kailua hosts the most beautiful white sand beaches of all the islands: Lanikai Beach is featured in many articles on the top 10 beaches of the world, Kailua beach is very long with white sand, and Waimanalo Beach is very long and even less crowded. There are several hiking trails very near: Maunawili Falls, Olomana Mountain, 'Pali' trail, Lanikai Pillbox.(URL HIDDEN)Plenty of plugs for charging your electronics. WIFI high-speed internet. Windows on 3 sides of the studio allow maximum air-flow if you choose the floral-scented breezes over the air conditioning. Or you can feel the windward breeze as you sleep.

You have access to bicycles in good shape (lock em up plz), 2 stand up paddleboards, ocean kayaks (one 2-person, one solo), 4 boogie boards, rental rates are described in 'Guest Access' section. So you can bike to get coffee, shop, or go to the beach. But you might want to put the kayaks on top of your car and paddle to the nearby Flat Island off Kailua Beach or the twin Mokulua Islands off Lanikai Beach, both minutes nearby. You are very likely to see sea turtles as you paddle; take your camera. Be sure to stop at the famous Kalapawai Market for coffee and snacks.

Kayaks (one person and a two person, same rate) are $20/day for one and $30/day for two. I have carpet pads and straps to put them on your rental car w no scratches. Bikes are $10/day pp for 1 day, $8/day pp for 2 days, $6/day pp for 3-7 days. Body boards are $4/day or 2 for $7/day. When I am home and not traveling, I tend to be around in the mornings, but I will be busy taking care of business on computer, taking care of the house, and doing yoga. In afternoons I am working in Kailua. In the evenings, I get home around 8 PM.

I love the crystal silence. Because it is a dead end road there is little traffic. I love the view of the Lanikai mountain and the plumeria flowers in the neighborhood.

A 2 minute walk brings you to the end of Iana St, where 'The Bus' stop is. The Bus has won awards for its convenience, modern buses (hybrids), and routes. It is quite easy to use; you can even put a bike on the front of the bus.

We are a non smoking household, my 14 year old daughter (half-time) and myself. The magic word is Mahalo. If you are a smoker, kindly smoke out front on the far side of the garage - depending on the wind of course, downwind. Parking is off street, right in front of studio, but outside security gate.

The also have access swimming pool and lanai by the pool, the hammocks in the Buddha Garden in the back, and the laundry in the main house (use once per 4 days stay please, conserve water and electricity, 3rd most expensive in the world, highest in US). WHEN YOU GO TO THE POOL, PLEASE GO OUT THE FRENCH DOORS AND ALONG THE GARDEN PORCH - to give me and others privacy do not go along the south side bedroom windows. You have free use of yoga mats, blocks & bolsters. I will provide bath towels, beach towels, daypack, cooler w blu ice packs, and beach mats. Upon request you can rent bicycles (3 mt, two cruisers), kayaks, surfboard, body boards. There is only one surfboard, a 9'3", and it rents for $20/day. Other things to note
Kailua is a great launching place to discover the entire island because it is cooler, quieter, greener, and less crowded than most of the island. Its a small island - I have raced around it on foot or a bike (112 miles). So it is easy to visit even the most remote corner (Ka'ena Point) and return in time for supper and sunset walk. Many guests who stay, do so for at least a week, and settle in, yet see the entire island. Every minute here is precious so you won't want to spend it moving from place to place because there is no need.

Oahu’s public transportation system is TheBus. It provides regular service from Kailua to many places around the island including Waikiki and Honolulu. Most residents in this area do tend to drive cars, but the commute over the Pali Highway is challenging during the work week. Kailua is within reach of several beaches along the Windward Coast and is only a short drive from the North Shore. The town is also bike-friendly and many residents use pedal power to run local errands or head for Kailua Beach. Walking is another great way to get around. Some of the hole-in-the wall shops and vintage cafes can only be found when strolling about on your own two feet.

Visit the two-mile strip of white sand at Kailua Beach during a work day and you probably won’t have much company. But go back on the weekend and you’ll find a good portion of the town flying kites, picnicking, tossing baseballs, and getting good and wet in the surf. Fronting the beach is an expanse of lawn, plenty of shade trees, and lots of parking. Windsurfers gear up for afternoon rides when the wind picks up. Kayakers paddle from the beach out to Flat Island, a quarter-mile ride. There’s not much there except for a bird sanctuary but the snorkeling is first rate. Little kids play in the sandy shallows while the older ones try their hand at surfing. The waves are just large enough to make things interesting but gentle enough for beginners. Kaiwainui Regional Park, on the northern end of town, offers hiking trails and a chance to see some of Oahu's land-based wildlife. Golfers may tee off at the Pali Golf Course, nearby at Kaneohe. It's a public course with reasonable green fees.

Beaches are the main attraction along the Windward Coast. Waimanalo Beach Park and Bellows Field Beach Park are south of Kailua and noted for their beauty. Waimanolo Beach is 3-miles long and was used in the filming of “Baywatch” and “Magnum P.I.” Both beaches allow overnight camping. Roughly 10 miles south of Kailua is Sea Life Park. Think mainland marine park with a Hawaiian twist. Swim with dolphins, attend the Chief’s Luau or check out the Hawaiian Shark Tank. The local kids love this place just as much as the tourists. Follow the Kamehameha Highway 9 miles north and you’ll find Heeia State Park on Kaneohe Bay. This is the place to learn kayaking, stand-up paddling and catamaran sailing. Nearby vendors provide equipment rentals and lessons.

The Beach
A long, graceful bay protected by a coral reef is Kailua’s delight. The nearly 4-mile-long stretch of ivory sand is made for strolling, and the weather and wave conditions can be just about perfect for swimming, kayaking, windsurfing and kitesurfing. South along the shore lies the exclusive enclave of Lanikai, with million-dollar views – and mansions to match.

We would recommend a car, however Oahu is known for its amazing bus system with stops that can take you all over the island. Bus stop is just a few hundred feet away.

Kapakai Cottage is a newly renovated modern island style apartment on the second story of our home in Kailua. There are beautiful mountain views all around. The balcony, bedrooms and living room overlook the lush Koolau mountains.
The apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood, about a five-minute drive from Kailua town and beautiful Kailua/Lanikai beaches.
There is a king size bed in the master bedroom and a queen size bed in the second bedroom. We also offer a pack'n play and portable crib for a infant.
The bath has an entry to both the living room and the bedroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a cooktop stove,& oven, full size refrigerator & freezer, Coffe mashine, microwave and much more.
The bath has a jacuzzi tub, which can also be used as a shower.

Every room has separate AC units. They are very efficient. Set them to 75. Be electricity conscious. It's really expensive. If you golf, I can get you in at Mid Pacific County Club.
