The Goddard Place is located 5 miles East of Anna off of Route 146. We only have one cabin. It is close to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, the Southern Illinois Wine Trail and the Shawnee National Forest. Your cabin features a living area with a sleeper sofa (for the young ones in the family), a recliner, a 32' flat screen television with DirecTV and a DVD player. The kitchenette includes a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, dishes, glassware and silverware. The queen sleigh bed, jacuzzi tub and lavatory complete the room. There is a shower and plenty of towels are provided. All you need to bring is your provisions!!

Doc's Lakeside Cabin is a great ADULT ONLY vacation destination to just getaway and relax.
We are located near the Shawnee National Forest along the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, in Southern Illinois. Doc's getaway cabin is approximately 30 minutes south of Carbondale Illinois and 25 minutes East of Cape Girardeau Missouri, Historic Downtown Cape.
The Cabin overlooks a 6 acre lake where you will enjoy the spectacular lake view from our front screened in porch or Hot Tub. We also have built a stone patio with fire pit and seating.
Our cabin sits next to the Shawnee National Forest, Trail of Tears State Forest and LaRue Pine Hills which has thousands of acres for exploring.
You will find our personal cabin is beautifully decorated for any taste.
Cabin Includes spacious Living Room with electric fireplace with vaulted ceiling and Full kitchen with cooking utensils. A Full Bath and 2 Bedrooms Master Bedroom King Size Bed and Guest Bedroom Queen size bed.
Favorite spot - screened in front porch that runs the width of the cabin.
Doc's Cabin was built in 2012 and is located in beautiful southern Illinois, and has Starlink WiFi. Our personal cabin is designed as a romantic getaway for adults over the age of 25.

To access Doc's Lakeside Cabin you will come up the blacktop driveway, steep hill, you will pass our home, follow the driveway down around the lake to the cabin. This is the only way in, and the only way out, no thru traffic. If you need something you will know right where to find us. My family lives on the other side of the lake. We consider our guests part of the family.

Prospective guests must review and accept our Rental Policy complete and return it to us providing names of all guests who will be at the cabin. We must have an official signed Rental Policy send via email in order to confirm your reservation.

I like speak to every guest at the time they reserve our cabin to ensure our personal cabin is just the right fit.

It has been brought to my attention that the house rules and policy are not provided until after payment is submitted thru vrbo, so I am including overview of our rental policy. Most are just good ole common sense...

Doc’s Lakeside Cabin
• We require you read All Policies.
• By reserving your stay at Doc’s Lakeside Cabin, you are accepting our policy
• It is the responsibly of credit card holder to inform the others in their reservation about Doc’s Lakeside Cabin policy.
Names of All guests must be provided to be on property of Doc’s Lakeside Cabin.

At check out guest are required to leave the cabin/Hot Tub and property in the same general condition it was upon arrival. I know some of these are common sense but…
1. Wash/Dry and put away dishes, utensils etc.
2. Clean the stove/microwave from any grease of food residue left from cooking
3. Do NOT dispose of hot/used cooking grease in landscaping/grass/rocks or trash bag
4. Wipe off counter tops.
5. Wipe up any spills
6. Do Not remove linens from the beds, I will take care of that.
7. Clean out all food and beverage brought to the cabin.
8. Place all used towels and washcloths in bathtub.
9. Close all windows and outside doors
10. Please bag all trash and place in outside trash receptacle provided.
If you Do Not leave the Cabin/Hot Tub and it’s surroundings as it was upon arrival, or if you abuse the cabin or violate any of our policies, you will not be allowed to rent from us in the future.
• You must be 25 years or older to reserve a cabin.
• You must be at least 21 years or older to stay at Doc’s Cabin, this is an Adult only location.
• Only the specified number of guests is allowed at the cabin.

• Reservations are required to be on the property.
• If it is found that you have more that the number of specified guests at any time at the cabin, you will be charged an extra $100 per Hour per person and you will be asked to leave for breaking policy. No refunds.**
• We pride ourselves with our clean peaceful environment at Doc's Lakeside Cabin; Doc’s “is not a party place.”
• You are responsible for any damages to the cabin/Hot Tub or its contents during your stay
• In the event of a dispute prevailing party may ask for attorney fee cost.
• Doc's Lakeside Cabin is not responsible for any "Acts of God" or "Mother Nature"
• Please Do Not Cook Seafood of any kind in the cabin, also the use of Curry seasoning is NOT Allowed, the smell will absorb into the walls, a gas grill is provided for such strong smelling cuisines. $500 Fee No Exceptions!
• We do not allow you to bring your own electronics such as gaming systems, amplifiers or Apple TV to hook into our TV.
• Wax Candles, open flames are not permitted in the cabin;
Doc’s cabin provides battery-operated candles, and automatic aromatherapy.
• Please do not drive on the grass; we have an irrigation system installed just below the surface.
Free Wi-Fi:
• Doc’s Cabin realized that some guests must have internet access for their careers, so as a courtesy we started providing Free Wi-Fi for our guests
• Doc’s cabin does not offer refunds for “courtesy” Free Wi-Fi.
Smoking:
• Smoking and/or Vaping is Not allowed in the cabin, on the Screened in Balcony or in the Hot Tub.
• The person making the reservation will be responsible for a $500 cleaning fee, if a scent of smoking is detected in the cabin, on the Screened in Balcony or in the Hot Tub.
Pets:
• NO PETS ALLOWED.
With respect to other guest with allergies and health related issues our policy is NO pets. No exceptions.

Hot Tub: IMPORTANT:
Doc's Lakeside Cabin is designed as an Adult relaxing romantic getaway with a Hot Tub.
We want our guests to be aware of what will contaminate the water in which they are responsible.
Here are a few things that will contaminate the water
• Swimwear only!!! Anything other than a swimsuit will still have detergent and fabric softener in them
which will leach out into the hot tub causing the water to either turn cloudy or foam or both.
• Shoes of any kind are not allowed in hot tub as this will scratch the tub and contaminate water.
• Makeup, body lotion, sun tan lotion, sunless tanning lotion, oils, hair gel or any other body
products will come off in the water turning the water cloudy and foam or both. You must take a shower with soap before entering the hot tub.
• If you have been down at the lake fishing the hot tub is not a place to wash off, you must take a shower and wash your hands before getting into the hot tub.
• NO Drinking, Smoking or eating in hot tub anyone of theses if dropped in will contaminate the water AND WILL cause it to cloud up and foam.
• Hot Tub use is Not permitted while it is sprinkling, raining, hailing or sleeting, the precipitation will change the balance of chemicals causing the water to be cloudy.
• Leaving the Hot Tub cover off of the hot tub while not in use will let bugs and flying particles get into the water.
• Lowering the Hot tub temperature below 99 degrees will cause the pump not to circulate, resulting in cloudy water.
• If you have had diarrhea/Vomiting in the last 24 hours or a open wound, DO NOT get in the Hot Tub!
• I recommend if 99 degree water is too hot, stay out of Hot Tub (this is Not a swimming pool)
Absolutely, NO GLASS containers near the hot tub; around the hot tub or even on the deck in which the hot tub is located.
There will be a Minimum $150 charge for misuse/Abuse of the hot tub during your stay such as a low water level, contamination, unusually dirty/cloudy/foamy water or foreign objects in hot tub. (i.e. grass, mud, residue from self tanning products, Make-Up, sprays and or Oils, ashes, food, beverages, gum etc)
• We ask that you bring robes or beach towels for the hot tub.
• Doc's Lakeside Cabin is not responsible for any injuries due to misuse/abuse of the hot tub or any other items located on the premises.
• CBC recommends 15min of soaking in a hot tub
• You must shower with soap before/after soaking in the hot tub
Hot tub cover must remain on the tub and latched while not in use.
Turn Off the lights in the hot tub, Close and Latch after getting out of the Hot Tub.
**DO NOT Leave Hot Tub Un-Covered
Fishing Policies:
• Guests are welcome to enjoy a leisure time of fishing in our lake.
• We ask that when you catch, you release back into the lake, so others may enjoy the same.
• Do NOT bring fish into the cabin.
• Absolutely, No cleaning of fish on/in or around our property.
Outdoor Activities and Policies:
• Please do not move outdoor furniture
• We encourage you to wear appropriate attire and use insect repellant while enjoying the outdoor environment.
• As wooded areas are prevalent to having chiggers, ticks, oak mites, etc.: we encourage you to shower after your outdoor activities for your comfort.
• Doc's Lakeside Cabin is not responsible for mosquitoes or any other type of insect.
• NO Swimming or Boating Permitted
Doc's Lakeside Cabin reserves the right to vacate the premises at any time.

We are located in the country in between Carrollton and Jerseyville. (We are a rural location. There is no WiFi and cell service can be spotty especially depending on your carrier. The rental is by farm fields and timber, which means we do get bugs and sometimes mice. We do our best to manage them but it is one of the facts of country living!)

Try the lesser used trail skirting beautiful Cedar Lake, one of the best fishing lakes in the region.

Alto Pass was in the prime viewing area for the 2017 Eclipse and will be again in April 2024. The Shawnee will again have the longest viewing time for the full eclipse. We have so much to offer visitors in the Shawnee Region. Nature lovers have an abundance of trails to choose from, several of them geared for the occasional hiker or children. There are excellent rock climbing locations for the more adventurous visitors. We have one of the best zip lines in the United States. Our region offers great biking trails. - "A group of 3 ladies stayed here for 2 nights to enjoy a long holiday weekend. The house and property were well above our expectations. The pictures of the property are great, but do not reflect just how special this place is for a relaxing stay. Everything is well thought out..from the linens, furniture and decor to the extra features such as the electric fireplace, lighting, hot tub, and fire pit. The decor is incredible with high end pieces. Home is super clean and fresh. All utensils, cookware, etc., match and all items are in place. No detail has been overlooked. We enjoyed sitting on the private back deck and feeling close to nature. The basement is very comfortable and provides extra living space if needed. Decor and details are just as good on that level. Nice landscaping, well maintained yard. By far, this is the best rental I have ever stayed in. We were all thoroughly impressed! Highly recommend."

Owner managed with care and detail, this A-frame home offers three seating areas, a fully stocked kitchen with full size appliances including a dishwasher, two sleeping areas upstairs one being a loft area with queen size bed that is open to the level below plus a private bedroom featuring a queen bed, twin bed and a fun lofted play area we call "the cozy cave" perfectly sized for little adventurers. The cozy cave is a great place for the kids to enjoy while the adults get some quiet time. One full bath located on the main level plus a queen sleeper sofa. This sleeper isn't your grandmas sleeper sofa, you will get a sound nights sleep on this updated version with no metal brackets and an easy flip out design. Outside there is a deck with a dining table that seats four, lounge seating for 8 with a light and enjoy propane fire-table, and a large traditional fire pit for a more woodsy experience.

The entire home and property is yours to explore. Please note that the woods behind and to the side of the property are not part of our parcel and are off limits. There is a private driveway down the deck side of our parcel with very little traffic but you may see a car here and there.

We do not reside on property but are not far away should there be an emergency. Feel free to reach out at any time with questions or concerns.

Our cabin is a short drive outside of Bloomington a few miles into the country. The last mile is a beautiful secluded tree lined road with a few neighboring houses. Once you turn at our well marked mailbox (look for the A-frame sign on the post with the white mailbox) you will meander through the woods for a short bit before you come up the lane to the A frame style cabin.

You will need a car for transportation. There is room to park 6 cars comfortably on this large property.

This cabin is beautifully remodeled from a historic property built originally in 1969. Therefore there are some creaky floors on the second level and the HVAC is less traditional than a typical newer construction. However, it stays quite comfortable during any type of weather. There is also a somewhat steep lane coming in to the property. Should there be snow or ice this short area may be difficult to navigate in a rear wheel drive car. We will plow and ice melt but we do not control mother nature. However, we don't live far away and in the case of severe weather will be at your service to assist as needed. :-)

Items to note: There is a security camera on-site located on the light pole near the shed. This camera views the driveway, front of the home, parking area, parts of the yard and the outdoor area including the hot tub. This device is solely for security purposes and is not monitored, do not rely on it for personal safety. This home is equipped with devices that monitor the environment inside and outside the property (including noise levels, temperature, smoke air quality) to ensure guests have a pleasant stay and our neighbors are not disturbed. This does not record sound as our guests privacy is key. Tampering with any security device will unfortunately be cause for immediate cancellation with no refund.

As a private small business owner, we do require a separate renters agreement and a deposit hold for each booking. We abide by all privacy regulations required for all online businesses and maintain a high guest satisfaction rating. Should you have questions regarding this, please reach out. Our cabin offers a serene woodland setting while being conveniently located just 10 minutes from Carbondale and the SIUC campus. You are also a short drive from the incredible natural beauty of Giant City State Park and the Shawnee National Forest, perfect for hiking, fishing, hunting, cycling, and kayaking.

There are a total of four cabins on the 35-acre property. They are spread far apart to ensure privacy, but please be aware that other guests may be on the property during your stay.

The space
The first floor includes a full kitchen equipped with pots and pans, plates, utensils, a toaster, crockpot, coffee maker, washcloths, towels, and more. It’s a well-stocked kitchen because we’ve enjoyed using it ourselves during “off” times.

If you have little ones, there’s a child-sized table upstairs in one of the bedrooms that you’re welcome to bring down for mealtimes. The back deck also has a table with seating for four.

The living room on the first floor includes a 4-person reclining couch, additional recliner, and a euro chair—comfortable seating for six. Down the hallway, you’ll find a mudroom with a washer and dryer for your convenience.

Bedroom #1 is also on the main floor and features a queen-size bed, a chest of drawers, and a closet. Across the hall is a full bathroom, which is not attached to the bedroom, making it accessible to all guests. A blow dryer is provided.

Upstairs, the second floor includes two additional bedrooms and a full bathroom.

Bedroom #2 has full-size bunk beds. It includes both a closet and a chest of drawers.

Bedroom #3 features a bunk bed with a full-size bed on the bottom and a twin on top. It also includes a chest of drawers and closet space.

All bathrooms are stocked with towels.

We’ve tried to make the space feel like a home away from home, and we especially want families and children to feel welcome and comfortable during their stay!

Guest access
(6 guest maximum) Guests have full access to the spacious three-bedroom home, large yard, and a private 1+ acre pond—great for swimming, paddle boating, fishing (catch and release only), and relaxing on the dock. The pond is in its natural state and untreated to help protect local wildlife and provide a safe, chemical-free habitat.

No hunting allowed

No ATVs, dirt bikes, or similar vehicles permitted on the property

Other things to note
We do have availability from November through January, but please note that reservations during hunting season are approved on a case-by-case basis. My husband is an avid hunter (as you may notice from the photos), and he or close friends/family may be using the cabin during that time.

Even if the calendar shows availability, I typically check with him first before confirming a reservation. Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Lakefront Cabin for rent, rest and relaxation includes beautiful home on 6 acre lake - sleeps up to 16 in 5 bedrooms with 3 full bathrooms. Property features a small private beach, canoe, paddleboat, walking trails, and 50 acres of pasture and pine forest. Hunters welcome.

Weather conditions causes lakes and ponds to have an increase in algae bloom & duck weed. Because of this naturally occurring event the condition of the lake cannot be guaranteed.

The space
This property is 1.5 hours from downtown Chicago, sits on 50 acres, overlooks a 6-acre lake, and is only accessible by a private drive. The buildings were completely remodeled in 2018.

Other amenities include a boat dock and fishing on the lake for small mouth bass, crappie and blue gill. A paddleboat and a canoe are available to renters and you can cook your catch on the charcoal grill. There is also a two-mile long walking trail through the timber and pasture. The Lake Cabin is 10 minutes from a bird hunting preserve and 25 minutes from Lake Carroll Golf Course. Please note that due to weather conditions lakes and ponds have seen an increase in algae bloom & duck weed. Because of this naturally occurring event the condition of the lake cannot be guaranteed.

The Lake Cabin is also available during hunting seasons. Please inquire about rates.

The Lake Cabin is one building and it is all yours for the duration of your stay.
