It sits in a beautiful small town called Belleview.IA with lots of parks and access to the river and tons of shops and diners just a short walk away. Although the staff is off site they are super friendly, honest and pretty knowledgeable about the area which is great for first time visitors. The property was super clean and offers an amazing view of the Mississippi River and the lock and damn. My only bummer was the property is not in partnership with the property down the hill so you can not walk down the hill and fish off the dock which really sucked when bass where jumping to the surface for food. But all in all 10/10 best place to take a vacation. There are other fishing spots just a short walk or drive away."

Thornwood cabin is a beautifully wood-crafted space that is easily accessible from the main driveway. This cabin offers a small living area with new queen size sleeper sofa, equipped with a small kitchen, as well as a loft that includes a queen-sized bed. It provides a private space within very close proximity to the Thornwood house. This will have all outside hookups to charge your fishing boat, perfect for those seasoned fisherman! This a cabin, so the bathroom is not inside the cabin, but is just a few steps off the deck. It is solely for this cabin, has just been remodeled. There is an outside entrance from the Thornwood house. This is a full functioning bathroom, with newly remodeled toilet and shower. There is solar lighting on the path to bathroom, flashlight is also hanging by the door if needed. The fire pit is just a few steps out back of the cabin, wood is available to purchase at a reasonable price. Note - we do rent both the Thornwood house and the cabin separately , so there may be other guest staying at the other location.

The Rookery Cottage is a quiet retreat in the heart of the Middle Raccoon River Valley. Situated on our private acreage, this rustic cottage overlooks a prairie and woodlands. Located next to Whiterock Conservancy, guests can easily access 40+ miles of scenic trails out the back door, or float the nearby river. Then, return to relax by a campfire and stargaze under some of Iowa's darkest skies.

A "rookery" is a nesting site for herons, a bird that prefers quiet, undisturbed habitat near water. And so the Rookery Cottage seeks to provide a peaceful, natural escape from the daily grind.

This building used to be a flower shop and was built using reclaimed barn board and other re-purposed materials. We converted it to a guesthouse but kept a lot of the rustic charm. It sleeps 6 with two queen beds and a queen-size futon. Heated floors and A/C keep you comfy in every season. Fast and free wifi access makes it convenient to work remotely while surrounded by nature or just stream a movie after a long hike. The kitchen is equipped with sink, mini fridge, microwave, toaster, electric skillet, crockpot, utensils and coffeemaker. Alternatively, a charcoal grill or fire pit can be used for outdoor cooking. We provide firewood, charcoal and lighter fluid, as well as coffee, creamer/sugar, and a tea assortment.

Our home is also on the acreage, along with dogs, chickens, cows, honey bees and a goat. Our space is also shared with wildlife. In the evening, it is not uncommon to hear coyotes, owls, whippoorwills, tree frogs, and occasionally a bobcat.

Perfect family vacation! Well appointed two bedroom, two bathroom cabin with a loft and a fireplace. The loft has a beautiful partial lake view! We also added the use of our golf cart for a small daily fee (included in rental fees/cannot be used in winter-fee removed). Our cabin sleeps four comfortably. Master bedroom has a new king memory foam bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds. The cabin is fully stocked with towels and linens for four. We have a great selection of family games and movies to keep everyone entertained. A smart TV in the master bedroom and loft, and a large TV over the fireplace with Roku allow you to log into your personal Netflix, Hulu, etc. accounts. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need including a regular and Keurig coffee maker, air fryer, crockpot, toaster, microwave, and dishwasher. Wonderful patio with outdoor table and chairs, additional chairs, fire pit, and gas grill. Washer and dryer included.

The cabin is located in wonderful Bridges Bay resort which has 4 outdoor pools, an indoor waterpark, lake access with a dock, updated fitness center, arcade, zip line, basketball court, playground, fishing pond, restaurants and bars. The rental includes six passes to the waterpark daily! We are located about 1 mile from Arnolds Park, and there are several public golf courses, restaurants, and bars nearby. We are also one of the first cabins in the neighborhood so we are very close to the restaurants, water park, and pool. No pets, no smoking, and no bachelor/bachelorette parties.

The Second Cabin can also sleep up to 4 people: 1 king bed and 1 sleeper couch that opens into a full bed. Second Cabin also has a fridge and a wood burning fireplace. No running water or bathroom available in the second cabin. All guests will have to use the only bathroom in the Main Cabin.

There is an RV pad with RV hookups next to the cabin. Electrical outlet is 120V, 30A. Please let us know what are your needs and we could either put an RV there for you or bring your own. Extra charges apply ($35 per day if you bring an RV).

Cellular reception is spotty in the area, some carriers do better than others. While at the cabin it is recommended to connect to the Wi-Fi and enable Wi-Fi calling on your smartphone.

For our long-term guests, we're pleased to offer house cleaning services during your stay. This optional service is provided at cost, allowing you to enjoy a consistently clean and comfortable home environment throughout your visit.

D&E Farm is located across the street from the cabin. Before you go, please call or text Liz at the number on the farm pictures to see if she is available for a quick farm tour or to buy fresh farm eggs. You can see and pet some animals (bunnies, goats, guineapigs), and see many different birds, including ducks, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, swans and more.

There is no charge for the farm visit, but availability is not guaranteed as the farm is not affiliated with the cabin. Liz and her family are very friendly and try their best to accommodate visitors, while still running the farm. Sometimes they have animal treats for sale.

Many of the farm birds are free-ranging, so you might see them crossing the street for a visit. There are also a few livestock guard dogs on the farm. They have no collars so they don't get caught on fences when chasing predators. The dogs are friendly, but please don't feed them, when they come visiting the cabin, as they need to maintain a certain diet.

- "What great cabins! Everything was exactly as pictured and we were pleasantly surprised by just how nice (dare I say luxurious?) everything felt once we arrived. The place was sparkling clean and welcoming, with so many small thoughtful touches. The beds were soft and comfy, there were plenty of extra blankets, and the cupboards were fully stocked with all kinds of essentials including cookware and wineglasses :) Honestly, I may come back here without the kids for a nice weekend away with my husband! Some hiking during the day and then snuggling into the soft king bed and watching our favorite shows on the giant TV (smart TV so you can log into your own accounts)? Yes please. Location is very rural, and we enjoyed the drive in at harvest time. It’s an easy drive to both Backbone and Pictured Rocks and I highly recommend both. There’s also good nature watching at the cabin - the first morning I woke to find a large flock of turkeys parading by the deck. As noted, there’s only one bathroom, but we managed just fine. The only disappointing thing is that we stayed at the end of a long dry summer and the river was nowhere to be found. We still enjoyed the spectacular deck, screened porch, and fire ring even without the river view."

We stayed at the end of their season but the property has lots of outside activities for families as well as trails leading to the river that would be ideal in the summer. They are in the process of building an event center that will be a wonderful addition to this little hidden gem in the woods."

The full kitchen is perfect for whipping up an indoor meal, including a dining table & seating at the bar. Or, fire up the charcoal grill and enjoy eating outdoors at your own picnic table. At night, gather round the fire pit and enjoy some nighttime stargazing. In the morning enjoy a cup of coffee on your covered porch. Panoramic views of the Cedar River are just a short, pleasant walk away, and with a full bath plus a washer & dryer, it's easy to freshen up from the day's hiking, exploring local spots, and other area adventures.

A rustic Log Cabin situated on 2 acres out in the country on D61 just 6 miles SE of Cascade, Iowa. Just 21 miles from Dyersville, where the famous Field of Dreams attraction is located, and 25 miles from the tri-state area and the Mississippi River in historic Dubuque, Iowa.

The loft space has a half bath, however, a full bath/shower is available to guests on the main floor of the home where we live. There is also a nice sitting area with a full couch and 2 chairs for reading and relaxing in the loft area where the guests will sleep. There is a mini fridge in the loft area. We do have both a small house dog and a house cat but they are not allowed in the loft area where guests reside.

Take a step back in time when you enter our little log cabin by the river. Built in 1949, this cabin is a replica of the log cabins built by the gold seekers of Alaska. Though modern in most aspects we have retained the native charm of unfinished wood, rough, hand-hewn logs and naked beams.

The inspiration for the cabin was found by my great grandfather who spent time in Alaska working on the Alcan highway.

The space

One of the Cabin's best assets is its large picture window looking out over the Iowa River. It is truly a nature lovers paradise as there are often Bald Eagle soaring above, cardinals arrive at the feeder daily, deer wander the premise in hopes of finding a snack in the orchard. Lilac bushes nearby provide a heavenly scent while sitting on the front porch or sneaking away to sit on the dock just below the cabin.
The cabin is only a short drive to the main part of town (about 5 minutes) where adorable country stores welcome you in with their authentic charm.
Take a ride on the Scenic City Empress with one of our FREE guest passes included in the booking. This riverboat history tour up the Iowa River is a favorite of ours! If you are here for The 4th of July be sure to make a booking as it fills up fast!

We do allow pets with a $50 pet fee. All pets must be disclosed. We allow 2 small dogs or one large dog, if you have other circumstances please reach out to us before booking. Thank you!

The Little Red Schoolhouse is located in a remote and serene area of Allamakee County. It is steps away from one of Iowa’s natural trout streams Patterson Creek, the recreational playground of the Upper Iowa River, and over 1,000 acres of wild prairie and woodlands managed by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.

The Little Red Schoolhouse is surrounded by natural beauty and can provide a quiet refuge free from all distractions.

The Cozy Cottage offers a gorgeous view of the Upper Iowa River Valley and the famous bluffs of the driftless region. This cabin is located at Upper Iowa Resort in Northeast Iowa.

Most linens are NOT provided. You will find clean fitted sheets on the beds along with a kitchen towel and dish rag. Bring blankets, pillows, and bath towels.

Sleeps up to 6 people with a queen-sized bed and bunk beds in the bedroom.

The space
Upper Iowa Resort is located along the banks of the Upper Iowa River between Dorchester and Waukon. The resort includes cabins, campsites, and rentals.

This relaxing spot is the perfect getaway for you and your family. Amenities include a spring-fed swimming pool surrounded by a beach, multiple playgrounds, a basketball court, and sand volleyball. Rentals and shuttles are available for canoes and kayaks.

There is no cell phone service in the valley so it is a great chance to unplug or use the wifi if you need to stay connected.

Note: If you turn on your "wifi calling" in your settings, you will be able to receive calls and texts. Memorial - Labor Day the wifi works best during the weekdays.

Very private, secluded and relaxing spot within 30 yards of walking or biking trail. Enjoy wildlife, plenty of deer and eagles to watch off the large open front porch. Fire pits for each cabin with firewood provided. Grill provided in front yard. Two private bedrooms with a queen bed in each. Kitchen included microwave, 2-burner stove and full size refrigerator. Coffee make and toaster also provided. River for canoeing and kayaking within walking distance.

The space
Each cabin has two separate bedrooms with queen beds in each. There is a living space with rocking chair and another comfortable chair for just relaxing and visiting with family and friends. The pub table has four stools for family meals. Each kitchen has 2-burner stove and microwave. Dishes, silver, and pots and pans are included in each cabin.

Guest access
Our guests will have the entire cabin to themselves. The building is divided into two mirrored spaces so that they have identical furnishings. The yard is a shared yard but there are two fire rings to our guest to enjoy. There is also an outside grill for use when staying in our cabins.

Other things to note
The full length porch has benches and chairs for enjoying the out of doors and wildlife near the cabins.

Our cabin is located right on the edge of Lacey-State Park, with two spacious bedrooms, fully furnished living room, kitchen and bath. Sit on the deck and watch the deer walk by, enjoy the peace and quiet, with plenty of space to park your boat and recreational vehicles. Downtown Keosauqua is less than half a mile and conveniently located near all that this quaint river town has to offer - dining, shopping, bars, trails, kayaking, fishing, hunting and so much more. Pets not allowed.

The space
Two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, laundry, deck, grill, fire pit and plenty of green space. Please note, the kitchen has a stove top only, no oven.
