Perfectly located a block from our starting point at the library, near the Meredith Wilson childhood home and museum and a few blocks from the Frank Lloyd house and museum. We are just not a vacation rental; we are an experience! Green pastures and white fences full of graceful horses surround Red Roof Stable Bed and Breakfast. Check in before 4pm and watch as the horses come in the barn for the evening.
Sit on the many decks and patios and play a family game as you watch the sunset.
At night help Diane check and water horses before roasting marshmallows at the outside firepit or inside at the fireplace.

Relax and take a step back in time (with all the modern conveniences) in the Roswell and Elizabeth Garst Historic Farmhouse site of the 1959 cold war visit by soviet premiere Khrushchev visit. Spend the night in one of the five rooms of this historic house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.The communal living room, dining room, and kitchen include a collection of artifacts, photos, books and films that guests are welcome to view and enjoy. Subject to occupancy, guests may visit each of the individual rooms which are full of antiques and historical photographs.

OUTDOOR LIVING: A picnic table, lawn chairs and a bonfire ring are nearby, and the yard abuts an excellent fishing pond and the town-loop trail system which connects to the rest of the Whiterock trail system. The nearby farm yard is used for sheep, goats and cows on occasion and the field behind the house is home to the bison herd.

KITCHEN: The fully-equipped kitchen has a stove, full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, charcoal grill, dishes and utensils. Supplies are provided to prepare your own breakfast.

- "We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and watching the farm animals. The WRC fishing was a bit disappointing, but there was an area fishing derby the morning we arrived, so they might have been a bit timid. The house was very neat and felt very homey. The kitchen was nice, although there was a sign posted about not longer providing breakfast supplies starting in 2021. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and will most likely come back in the future."

The space
Play ping pong or billiards in the game room . Play cards, work on a puzzzle, or relax in front of the fireplace in the gathering room. The gathering room includes a kitchen with full-sized fridge, stove & microwave, ice machine and Keurig coffee maker. Utensils, dishes and paper produdts are provided. Extra tables & chairs are available for group activities.
Breakfast is served in the dining room or as a buffet in the gathering room for larger groups.
Grill on the patio and/or relax around the fire pit in the evening (both are LP gas).
Play outdoor games (soccer, volleybal, badminton, frisbee golf, corn hole bags, ladder ball, corquet) in the backyard or fish in the pond. Relax in a porch rocking chair or on the pond dock and watch the sun go down.
Paula lives in a separate part of the house with cats Sadie and Gracie.

Guest access
Guestroom 3 is located on the second floor. There is an elevator, and all rooms are handicapped accessible. There are two steps to enter the house, but there is ramp access through the garage if needed.
Guests can relax or play in the gathering room which has a fireplace, TV, and kitchen/bar area, or the game room/library with ping pong and pool tables. Guests can eat in the dining room or in the Gathering room, play the piano or read in the front room. They can grill on the patio and/or relax around the firepit in the evening (both are LP gas), or relax on a porch rocking chair or on the dock on the pond.
Guest laundry is available upon request.

During your stay
Paula lives in a separate part of the house but does not intrude in guests' privacy, space, or activities. She is usually available on site or by phone.
Two cats live in the home but are not allowed in guest areas.

A guest once said, “Buckman's Guesthouse is in the middle of everywhere!" Our guests frequently come from the surrounding Midwest states and beyond for family get-togethers and celebrations.

The home is located on County Rd X37, running between G62 on the north and Hwy 78 on the south.
It is located about 25 miles north of Burlington; about 30 miles northeast of Mt Pleasant; about 25 miles southeast of Washington, 25 miles southwest of Muscatine; and 50 miles southeast of Iowa City.
Small towns of Wapello, Morning Sun, Columbus Junction, Mediapolis and Yarmouth are within 6 - 12 miles.

Look for the silo with the Iowa Hawkeye. There is a sign at the entrance to the lane. Buckman's Guesthouse is the second house down the gravel lane.

Available seasonally, during warm months, sleeping porch with three single beds is like summer camp, or staying at Grandma's. A unique place for grown up girls slumber party. Alternatively, your teens and kids will love this space.

Nestled in the rolling hills of northeast Iowa, the Gehlen House offers year-round accommodations for calming getaways and/or family fun. One of 34 area buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Gehlen House Inn has 6 bedrooms, 6 baths, a shared kitchen and living room space.

Koerich features a full bed and a private full bathroom across the hall. There may be street noise during busy hours.

The space
The Gehlen House was established in 1848 by Peter Gehlen, an immigrant from Olm, Luxembourg. The house is built from native limestone quarried from the hills around the village of St. Donatus. Over the years the Gehlen House has served travelers and the community at large, having been a post office, a road-side tavern, and a doll museum. In it's current capacity, the Gehlen House is an inn, providing six private bedrooms with a shared living room, kitchen and upper deck.

Koerich is a quaint bedroom with a full bed and wardrobe. The full bathroom is located across the hall. It is designated for use by guests in Koerich, though it is adjacent to shared hallway. It room been recently updated and provides a beautiful room for your stay.

Guest access
Guests have private bedrooms with locks. All guests have access to the kitchen and living room shared areas. There is a small deck off the kitchen providing entry to the second floor.

The keypad is located on the front entry door and you will be provided with the active code and instructions for check in a few days prior to your arrival.

The kitchen is a shared space that includes both a microwave and refrigerator. We ask that guests wash their hands prior to using these items to help with mitigating the potential spread of germs. Disinfecting wipes are also available in the kitchen. Most food items are individually packaged for our guests. We ask that our guests wash their own dishware or use the disposable items provided.

During your stay
We do not live in the inn, but we are 5 minutes away. Upon reservation, you will be provided with additional contact information. We try to be available at check-in to get you settled in, but you may also choose to self-check upon arrival.

We are generally on-site in the barn venue behind the inn Thursday through Sunday and we invite you to come and enjoy the cold craft beers from our brewery, or listen to the music we often have on the weekends.

Other things to note
In the back of the property is the oldest barn in Iowa, built in 1839. It has been renovated to offer space for small events and weddings, and now houses our microbrewery, Beer in the Barn Brewery. The barn is open to the public and we serve out of the tap room Thursday and Friday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday starting at noon, April through January 1st. Live music is offered at least once per weekend, usually on Sundays, and other activities such as trivia, euchre and Karaoke are offered throughout the month. Cozy, light-filled carriage house apartment in the Peninsula neighborhood close to downtown Iowa City, the University of Iowa campus, UI Hospitals and Clinics, the Iowa River Landing, Coralville, Ramen Belly, and dog park. 1-bedroom with pull-out queen couch. Central location that connects to several great trail networks including a quick bike ride to the Iowa River Landing.

The space
Guests have their own separate outside entrance and must access the apartment with a flight of stairs. The apartment does not share any walls with the main house and is above the garage. The space is very quiet. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a pullout couch in the living room that could accommodate one adult or 2 children.

Parking is free. There is a one-vehicle parking pad located next to the front door of the unit. The parking space is only for use by guests, so you will always have a place to park. There is a regular/standard outlet next to the parking pad that can be used for car charging. Additional free parking is available on the street.

This 400 square foot guest suite sits across the yard from our home and is located in the outbuilding. There is one bedroom with a queen bed and a loft with a queen mattress. This is a brand new property and there will be continuous improvements over the remainder of 2024.

Our property is near several trout streams and many quaint communities including Waukon (2 miles) Lansing (16 miles) and Decorah (20 miles). Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. This studio has parking right to the front door. It has an open kitchen into the spacious living room. A macrame room divider divides the living room and king size bedroom. Enjoy sitting on the patio and watching the sheep and horses in the pasture.

The space
The Oakwood Inn is a grand Victorian estate located in the heart of the Iowa Great Lakes. Experience the picturesque views of the gardens, ponds and wildlife. Take a walk along the path and listen to the bullfrogs in the wetlands. You may even see a glimpse of turkeys, a few deer, ospry or the resident groundhog.

Guests receive a letter from the innkeepers with a cell phone number they can call or text anytime. In addition, the office is open in the mornings until 11 a.m. and in the afternoon/evening from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

This Little House on the Driveway is just the right size for your stay, with a kitchen, full bathroom, and living space. We have 2 full size beds and a cot if it's needed. This special place is close to the square where there are several restaurants and shops. There are many things to do in the area and we have many pamphlets available to go check things out. The unit is tucked away in the back yard where it's quiet. Please note parking is on the street.

The space
This Little House on the Driveway has a one room living space, with 2 full size beds, and a cot. There is a 40 inch Roku TV with chrome cast to stream whatever you would like. There's a full kitchen and full bathroom and well.

Guest access
We do have some outdoor space to sit and a charcoal grill with all the supplies. This is in our back yard so it's a public area on our lot.

Other things to note
The Little House on the Driveway is in the back yard and parking is on the street. You need to go over the arrival guide prior to your visit for detailed instructions to park and to get to the unit. Though we are flexible on check in, the approximate time of your arrival will be inquired the day before you arrive. The Iowa House Historic Inn, built in 1924, was converted from the Delta Chi fraternity house in 2008. Massive renovations turned this frat house into a charming 15 room bed and breakfast. Room 303 at the Iowa House.

The space
Room 303 is connected to our spare bedroom 305. 305 may be added onto 303 for an extra charge. This adds an extra bedroom with another full-sized bed, which must share the bathroom with 303. This is our cheaper option over renting an additional entire room, for families or larger groups.

Beautiful lower level guesthouse in pristine neighborhood. This location is minutes from the interstate with restaurants and grocery stores right down the street. Clara sleeps up to four guests in two queen size beds in the sleeping room that features hardwood floors, picture molding, and a large front window that opens onto a quiet street for those who enjoy night breezes. Two sets of French doors lead out to the large, private, furnished porch. You will also enjoy a charming closet with built ins and a writing desk in the main sleeping room. Nestled in the rolling hills of northeast Iowa, the Gehlen House offers year-round accommodations for calming getaways and/or family fun. One of 34 area buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Gehlen House has 6 bedrooms, 6 baths, and a shared kitchen and living room space.

Echternach features 2 full and 1 twin bed, with a full bath, including a claw foot tub. The room is equipped with it's own heating/cooling unit.

Continental breakfast is provided.

The space
The Gehlen House was established in 1848 by Peter Gehlen, an immigrant from Olm, Luxembourg. The house is built from native limestone quarried from the hills around the village of St. Donatus. Over the years the Gehlen House has served travelers and the community at large, having been a post office, a road-side tavern, and a doll museum. In it's current capacity, the Gehlen House is an inn, providing six private bedrooms with a shared living room, kitchen and upper deck.

Echternach is a large corner bedroom with two full size beds and one twin bed. It has a separate heating and cooling system for your comfort. There is a newly remodeled en suite bathroom with a shower and a working clawfoot tub.

Guest access
Guests have private bedrooms with locks. All guests have access to the kitchen and living room shared areas. There is a small deck off the kitchen providing entry to the second floor.

The keypad is located on the front entry door and you will be provided with the active code and instructions for check in a few days prior to your arrival.

The kitchen is a shared space that includes both a microwave and refrigerator. We ask that guests wash their hands prior to using these items to help with mitigating the potential spread of germs. Disinfecting wipes are also available in the kitchen. Most food items are individually packaged for our guests. We ask that our guests wash their own dishware or use the disposable items provided.

During your stay
We do not live in the inn, but we are 5 minutes away. Upon reservation, you will be provided with additional contact information. We try to be available at check-in to get you settled in, but you may also choose to self-check upon arrival.

We are generally on-site in the barn venue behind the inn Thursday through Sunday and we invite you to come and enjoy the cold craft beers from our brewery, or listen to the music we often have on the weekends.

Other things to note
In the back of the property is the oldest barn in Iowa, built in 1839. It has been renovated to offer space for small events and weddings, and now houses our microbrewery, Beer in the Barn Brewery. The barn is open to the public and we serve out of the tap room Thursday and Friday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday starting at noon, April through January 1st. Live music is offered at least once per weekend, usually on Sundays, and other activities such as trivia, euchre and Karaoke are offered throughout the month. Our event schedule is viewable on FB at Gehlen Barn & Inn.
