Fitzgerald Manor is a spacious bed & breakfast nestled in the middle of 39 acres, five miles up from the northern shores of Lake Superior.

Constructed from 2002-2004 The Manor was designed by Becky & Mark to be a beautiful gathering place to spread out and enjoy each other’s company.

Fitzgerald Manor is a true BnB, we live on site, residing on the 3rd floor. After breakfast there is a small amount of interaction. We are available as little or as much as you need us to be. As far as guests sounds filtering up to the 3rd floor, the quality construction of The Manor keeps it to a minimum.

With 10,000 square feet the Manor features seven large private bedrooms each with their own private bath. All have wonderful king size beds & ceiling fans. Five guest rooms have a gas fireplace and their bathroom has a two person whirlpool tub and walk in shower. Two guest rooms have a full bathroom with combination tub/shower.

The gourmet kitchen is available for your use with two prep islands, six burner double oven stove and two full size refrigerators. There is plenty of space to enjoy including a sitting room, great room, sun room, dining room and a huge library with books, games, DVD movies, and a karaoke machine to add to the fun.

The Manor has two attached porches. The south east porch is open and covered to enjoy the views of the meadow, the grazing deer or the summer fire flies. The south west porch is open for that barbeque feast and visiting around the picnic table.

Large groups are welcome with 6 additional twin size beds that can be set up in either the bedrooms or the student study room. All of the sleeping areas are located on the 2nd floor.

There is ample parking on blacktop.

Like all true BnB’s we offer a wonderful homemade hot breakfast each morning and typically serve at 9am.

The manor’s third floor is constructed to block noise so guest activities are not noticed.

The space
The Brick Hauz Haven is the ground level of the house with 2 good-sized bedrooms, each with a queen bed and 1 with a work space; 1 full bathroom with basic supplies, a kitchen with basic kitchen utensils and cooking condiments, a dining area, and a living room with a 55-inch Roku TV.

There is a screened gazebo at the back of the house, with table and chairs that you can use if you want to enjoy the breeze outside during warmer days.

There is a space for one car in the attached garage and another off-street guest parking for one car on the driveway, also at the back of the house – take the alley off from either 9th Street or 10th Street and you will find the concrete driveway, behind the brick house – then park in front of the stand-alone brick wall. There is also plenty of on-street parking in front of the house, along Portland Avenue.

Please take note that there are stairs from the unit going down to the basement, which makes the place not advisable for young children (risk for falls).

Guest access
Enjoy the whole main floor of the house and everything therein.

Guests have private entrance through the front door, which is equipped with smart lock. If you park off-street on the driveway at the back of the house, take the walkway starting between the gazebo and the garage to access the 3-step stairway to the front door.

Guests can use one space in the garage and use the door from the garage to the dining area as alternate entryway.

Also in the garage are bigger trash and recycling containers— please put filled-up/final trash or recycling bags in them.

There is a Queen size bed and a Chair that lays out into a bed. Size is like a nice comfortable cot. See pics for how it looks as a bed and as a chair. So couple with a child or two adults in separate beds. Just have to fight over who gets the big bad.

The space
Mission House Cottage is a stand-alone one bedroom cottage with a private entrance, located on the same parcel as what was once the Catholic Mission House, a designated Heritage Preservation Landmark.

The cottage has a full kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave and refrigerator. The living/dining area includes a comfy sofa as well as a dining table that expands to seat six.

The bedroom includes a queen-size bed with high-quality linens and pillow top mattress cover, as well as an oversized closet.

The living room sofa converts to a full size bed (best for children or smaller adults).

The cottage's entry area includes a small mudroom for you to store your coats, shoes, and more. A full-size washer and dryer is also located in the mudroom.

In the warmer months, guests may enjoy spending time on the cottage's patio under the shade of one of the parcel's decades-old trees.

Mission House Cottage is located in an active neighborhood close to some of Excelsior's most popular events and activities, including those that take place at Excelsior Commons. Depending on time of year, you may see softball players on the way to a game at the ball field, concertgoers on the way to enjoy one of the free concerts in the Commons, or crowds bundled up to watch the annual dog sled race. And while the cottage has a full kitchen, guests are only two blocks away from Excelsior's main street, Water Street, where they will find numerous restaurants and shops.

Guest access
Guests will have full access to the entire cottage. Parking will be in a designated space adjacent to the cottage. The paved parking area is shared with the private home next door.
