The space
Fox+Fern is cozy and quaint and nestles you within its walls. Our family of 5 has a passion for the North Shore and nature. You will find numerous beach finds in the form of agates, feathers, driftwood, and more spread throughout the home. Along with local hiking books, nature books (kids and adults), and novels galore. I also have a passion for poetry and reading and you will find local poetry and more layered throughout our cottage. My husband is also a maker and some of his handcrafted wood projects grace the home as well.

The yard has a private patio space along with a pebble play pit for the kiddos and tent swing hanging from one of the trees, and 1-2 hammocks. We recently added a weatherproof bags set as well as a disc swing. We hope you enjoy our home away from home just as we do.

We recently updated the bunk room with a lofted twin and an small futon couch underneath. We also have a packnplay, toddler cot, and big kid cot- we've used these in the 2nd bedroom, master bedroom, and even front entry/coat room. There's also room to pitch a small tent on the mulch outside if more space is needed.

We recently replaced the pull out sofa mattress and added a support board to both the sofa bed and the accordion futon in the bunk room.

Spring through Fall- Enjoy the private patio, firepit, and new gas grill. There is plenty of propane onsite and firewood can be purchased at SuperOne or Kwik Trip just a few minutes drive away, if there is firewood onsite feel free to use. There is a tree swing hanging from the tree near the shed and a pebble/nature area right off the patio for the kiddos to enjoy. As well as a single disc swing on one of the cedar trees near the master bedroom window. Along with 2 hammocks.

The Cottages at Shores of St Andrew sit on beautiful Lake Andrew near New London MN. They are a lakeside retreat with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, living area and they feature a wonderful screen porch. It has a walk-in sandy beach with docks and water equipment. They have parking adjacent and include 1 camper pad with electrical hook-ups if additional space is needed. This property is part of Shores of St. Andrew Bible Camp which is part of Green Lake Lutheran Ministries.

Located 80 feet from Lake Superior’s beach, Cottage #1 provides spectacular views and sounds of Superior. Only walking paths and natural vegetation separate you from 540ft of rocky beach and waves hitting the shore. This cozy four season cottage has 2 romantic gas stoves, 2 bedrooms (queen bed, full bed), a living room (plush futon, 2 wingbacks, dinette set), a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with a shower. The space
Cottage #1 is one of 8 vacation rentals at Croftville Road Cottages. There are 3 cottages plus the inn with 5 vacation suites, an office, and owners quarters. Croftville Road Cottages is owned and operated by Teresa and Mike Chmelik who live on-site. The inviting and romantic cottages and suites are impeccably clean and meticulously maintained. Croftville Road Cottages offers an experience reminiscent of days past when small mom and pop resorts were found all along the North Shore. However, the cozy cottages and luxurious inn suites are among the finest vacation rentals along Lake Superior. Croftville Road Cottages is conveniently located just 3 miles from downtown Grand Marais on the lakeside of scenic Croftville Road known by locals as the "walking road". Come relax by a fire. Guest access
Croftville Road Cottages is nestled on 540ft of rocky shoreline. There are walking paths through the natural vegetation leading from the cottages and inn suites to a path along the lake and a stairway that provides easy access to the beach. There are 2 fire circles with outdoor furniture and 3 swings along this path that are available for guest use on a first-come, first-serve basis and look out over Lake Superior. Firewood is provided in the 4 firewood shelters that are located about the grounds. Guests who are adventurous are always welcome to carry wood down to the beach to have a small fire on the rocks.

Note: Cottage #1 has a private fire circle, outdoor patio furniture, and a charcoal grill on the lawn in front of the cottage overlooking Lake Superior. It also has marshmallow skewers and grill utensils hanging on the side of the cottage. We do not provide charcoal and starting fluid.

Other things to note
1. Croftville Road Cottages is required to collect 12.375% in state and local sales taxes. Airbnb collects this for us and this shows up as taxes on your quote/bill.
2. There is a 2 night minimum on weekends and a 3 night minimum on holidays and special events.
3. There is a 10% discount for 3-6 night stays and a 20% discount for 7 or more night stays.
4. Accessibility: This cottage is all on one level. It is 3 steps down from the parking area and 1 step up to get into the cottage from the roadside. It is 2 steps down to the lawn on the lakeside of the cottage. The entry door is a standard 32" door. The bathroom and bedroom doors are 24" doors.

Amenity notes:
1. Kitchen: The cottage has a full kitchen well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glassware, flatware, small appliances, and linens. It also has full size kitchen appliances.
2. Linens: The cottages is supplied with all the bedding needed including ample pillows, and extra blankets. It also has all the plush towels and washcloths needed for the bathroom and kitchen.
3. Heating: The main source of heat are thermostat controlled decorative gas stoves in the living room and lakeside bedroom.
4. Hangers: There are no hangers in the cottage but there are many hooks and a luggage rack in each of the bedrooms.
5. TV: There is no TV reception but the smart TV has internet access and is connected to a DVD player. There is a collection of DVDs in the office.
6. Fireplace: There are thermostat controlled decorative gas stoves in the living room and lakeside bedroom where one can enjoy a fire.
7. WIFI: Our wifi network name is "Croftville Road Cottages Public" and is not password protected.
8. Laptop friendly workspace. There is a table and chairs in the kitchen and a table and chairs in the living room as well.
9. Cooking basics: We have salt, pepper, and coffee filters in the kitchen. Although the full kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glassware, flatware, small appliances, and linens, you need to bring all food you require.

There is a queen futon bead in a lower level family room. We have a garden table that sits 6 with grill. If you use the grill it's your responsibility to clean it. Cushions for thee chairs available upon request.

Welcome to the Cottage at Unity farm. This is an extraordinary place, filled with wildlife, restored prairie, surrounded by National forest, and private access to the Saint Croix River. There are abundant walking/ski trails that wind through the woods.
This delightful 3 bedroom, two bathroom cottage with a wood stove warming you in the winter, or dining al fresco in the summers after a hike down to the river. Simple kitchenette with access to a full kitchen under the cottage via cellar.

The space
Welcome to Unity Farm, where you will be staying either at the ROOST, the COOP or the COTTAGE. The coop is where chickens and pheasants were raised, with the cottage being the old granary, before its current restoration.

Until 1965 the town of Franconia was the last paddleboat stop on the St. Croix River, and the Franconia train platform and Taylor Falls Airport were located at the junction of Unity avenue and Highway 8.

This was an active Farm for the last 85 years for two families and several generations. The landscape has been restored to prairie, which provides a natural animal sanctuary harkening back to the days before America was colonized.

Unity farm is an extraordinary place, filled with wildlife, native flowers, and abundance of trees and forest, and private access to the St. Croix River. It is a place that offers peace and serenity, and surrounded by national forest property. There is a pond in the yard with occasional great blue herons, ducks and many turtles. On the property there are tennis courts, children’s swings and climbing bars, walking paths that lead through the woods and down to the river. (There is a small sand beach on the river at the end of the trail, but be advised that it drops off quickly, and the current can be strong). There is a tennis court, and even a baseball field and basketball hoop.
The landscape is glorious any time of the year, whether it is cross country skiing around the big field in the winter or hiking to the river for a swim in the summer.

We have restored 80 acres of land into natural prairie, which offers a variety of wild flowers throughout the spring and summer, and ends in the fall with tall blue stem grasses.

We have three cottages that we offer for rent. One is called “ the cottage”, and it is a two/three bedroom farmhouse with two bathrooms and a small kitchenette. The downstairs has a small living room, with an adjoining bedroom with a queen size bed. The bathroom has a walk in shower. The upstairs floor has four twin beds, with a partial room divider between the rooms. The bathroom has a pink clawfoot tub.
For cold nights in the winter, there is a wood stove downstairs, and for the rest of the year, there is a small front porch, and a few steps away is a large deck with a dining table and chairs.

The other cottage is called “ the coop”, and this farmhouse has a full kitchen, a downstairs bathroom with a walk in shower, and a larger living room with a large TV if so desired. Upstairs there is a queen size bed. This cottage has an outdoor deck that overlooks the restored prairie.

The third is "the Roost", it is a luxurious one bedroom rental with 1/2 bath surrounded by the woods and prairie.

The walking trails are marked clearly, whether you are on snowshoes or skis, or going for a walk through the woods or to the river. Please respect the private property signs and the DNR signs, there is rare flora and fauna in areas, and we want to preserve our natural resources. You will find the woods magical, you might want to pack a picnic lunch and sit on the bridge that goes over Lawrence Creek – there are two for you to choose from!

Please be courteous of our neighbors and pay attention to the areas that are designated for your use.

We are less than an hour outside of the cities, we invite you to come and experience this incredible environment!

This home is perched on a bluff, offering stunning, wide-open views of the lake with no homes across the water. Please note: there is a road between the home and the private dock. While there’s no beach directly on the property, a sandy beach is located down the street at West Medicine Lake Park (0.5 mile). The fishing is excellent right off the dock, with a 12ft. drop-off near the end. Medicine Lake is fully recreational, perfect for all your water activities.
