- "My partner and I were looking for a unique way to stay in Duluth to enjoy the fall colors and activities. I found this listing and took a leap of faith, as I didn’t know what to expect staying in a boat! Mandy and John exceeded all expectation, and were very accommodating in making it a great experience. The beds were so warm, even on the chilly nights, the amenities made it feel as comfortable as home, and the whole stay was just the sense of adventure and coziness we were looking for. The stars and sunsets/sunrises from the dock certainly didn’t hurt either :) Thank you for letting us stay on your boat! I thoroughly recommend this vrbo to anyone considering a unique experience in Duluth!"

Location was great! We visited the state park and the 1910 Siphouse (which also a must stop) Plan to rent again next year! Had a wonderful time! I raved so much about the place my other friend rented a few weeks later!" - "We had the best time! The property was great, the location is wonderful and near so many activities within Glendalough State Park! Nestled in a grove of aspen, maple, and birch, our cozy yurt offers escape from the city and protection from the elements. Enjoy a short walk on trails through our woods or find the Superior Hiking Trail and COGGs trails less than a mile away. Relax by our garden. The yurt has a deck and chairs, a seasonal screen door to enjoy the breeze, a woodstove, a propane cookstove, an outhouse, and a bucket sink.
The space
Expect to enjoy a rustic stay! The woodstove is the primary heat source for the yurt. If you don't know how to build a fire, please let us know-- we have provided instructions and are also happy to assist. There is no running water at the yurt (there is, however, water provided and a bucket sink). The outhouse is a short walk from the yurt.
Other things to note
The woods are home to many creatures, and as the yurt is a semi-permanent structure in the woods, we have seasonal pesky visitors (mosquitoes, mice, etc). Mosquitoes tend to be most present in June, and mice show up in the fall.
- "The property was very quiet and cozy. The property managers live on site and were very responsive and respectful. We would absolutely stay here again!" - "Very scenic and perfect place to unwind in Duluth. Elena was had great communication and provides great instructions for the yurt. Also, fall colors is the perfect backdrop for the yurt and the experience. Would recommend staying here!" - "The yurt was clean, tidy, and stayed very warm while the brisk fall air whirled through the surrounding trees. The owners ensured we had everything we needed, they are lovely to rent from."

" - "Will be there again soon" - "I was very satisfied with my weekend stay! Unfortunately, my friend and I were unable to stay in this tent due to a recent storm and the threat of another incoming, so our amazing host, Deb, offered for us to stay in their Little Cabin while still being able to use the tent site. Deb was very accommodating and welcoming, and I can tell she and her husband care extremely about their guests' experiences above all else. When we found difficulty starting a fire due to the recent rain, they gladly started one for us! Their story is also so inspiring. Their property is nothing short of serene and beautiful. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind for the weekend. I would highly recommend any of their stays and I would definitely stay here again!"

- "I was a little concerned with it being a new listing at first, but very happy with our decision. Starting after booking, the hosts / owners were happy to answer any questions and help us prepare for the trip even before we arrived. Jimmy was helpful in getting us, gear, and the rental boat to the island when we arrived at Moccasin Point where we left our vehicle. Arriving we found a beautiful island with a woodland feel. It is a rocky and set up a bit from the water giving wonderful views. We used the popup tent camper provided which was clean and dry and also brought a tent. Few to no bugs. There was more gear and supplies available than we expected like a grill and camp stove with some cooking gear. Being a newer listing is seems they are making improvements on a regular basis and there was some building materials on the island but out of the way did not really take away from the experience. Jimmy was there off and on to answer any questions or available by phone otherwise. Would consider another stay in the future for sure. Thanks for the great time."

Note: This page is just a place holder for the description of the pontoon boat and some pictures. The actual renting goes along with our cabin at https://www.vrbo.com/773979.
Mound lake is a beautiful lake! Clear waters, one of the cleanest in Minnesota. It has a water clarity index of 13.5 ft! It's like looking through glass. Ideally the boat will be rented along with our vacation rental. Here is a link for the vacation rental, https://www.vrbo.com/773979.
A pontoon ride around the lake is the perfect end to a great day. A sunset cruise is amazing!
The boat has seating for 10 or more folks. Our pump house has life jackets of many sizes for the whole family. Mound lake is also a great fishing lake, which coincidentally can also be enjoyed from a pontoon boat. :-)
We just replaced the motor with a 2022 Yamaha 25hp high thrust motor. The motor runs very well. It starts right up. Very dependable. It's a four stroke so you don't have to worry about mixing any gas. We always run non-oxygenated gas so it will stay reliable. With the new motor we also raised the rates a bit to compensate. However, it is still the best deal around, up to a third of other pontoon rental sources around us.. Thank you for considering us.
The seats are a little rough. But it's mostly the upper backs that get the majority of the sunlight. We are working on replacing them but it will be a little bit before that happens. Thank you for your patience! The actual seating areas are very comfortable. To make up for that, we charge a lot less than competing sources.
The current pictures are not final. We apologize. We're trying to get it setup so our current cabin customers that want the pontoon can rent it. But we are not on site so we are using the pictures we have. We will get better pictures soon. I promise. :-)
Ideally the boat will be rented along with our vacation rental. Here is a link for the vacation rental, https://www.vrbo.com/773979
BTW, If it hasn't been fixed yet, please ignore the stuff about bedrooms or bathrooms. This is a pontoon boat. VRBO is primarily a building rental company so their pages are designed for that. They now also rent boats, but their pages haven't quite caught up. I will try to address that as soon as I can, and it lets me. Again, thank you for your patience!
- "My family and I spent about a week on this beautiful property right on the shores of Mound Lake. We had a great time boating, swimming, and fishing. The weather during our stay was pretty hot (high 80's - mid 90's) so the house got a little warm during the days, but most of us were in the waters and on the sand beach anyways. The lake was clean and clear and perfect for swimming and exploring with the pontoon. Would definitely recommend for any group no matter the age."

Nestled among tall, whispering pines and just a short stroll from the breathtaking Lake Superior shoreline, this spot was everything we were hoping for and more. The cool coastal breeze added the perfect touch to our stay—refreshing, peaceful, and invigorating. The campsite was thoughtfully designed and impeccably maintained, blending comfort with the natural beauty of the North Shore.
