Waubay Walleyes and Wings Retreat is located on the north end of Waubay Lake in northeastern South Dakota - in the heart of great walleye fishing and duck, goose, deer and pheasant hunting. It's also a great place to simply enjoy some time away!

Our 1940s tourist cabin has been recently remodeled. There is a full-sized bed in one bedroom and a twin sized bed in the other bedroom. The small bathroom with a shower has just been updated with beautiful new tile. An equipped small kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator and an apartment sized stove. We can grocery shop for you if you would like and have your groceries (and the bill) waiting for you when you arrive. We have access to farm fresh eggs.
You will have only 1 1/2 miles of gravel to travel on to get to our ranch.
We offer tours of our ranch. On the ranch is the original 1906 Homestead Shanty that was built for the Ashley Brothers. The shanty holds three pieces of original furniture along with other period furniture. The shanty was occupied until 1956.
A one room rural schoolhouse built in 1905 sits next to the tourist cabin. Desks, books, maps, a wood burning stove offer an opportunity to play act and pretend you are either the teacher in the school or the dunce. One corner inside the schoolhouse has a voting booth and the original voting box.
We have a camp store that is open all the time. Cowgirl necklaces made by our real cowgirl and cowboy grandkids. Chokecherry jelly. Dill pickles, Bad River Beef Jerky, Pemmican and Summer Sausage. (Pemmican is what the Native Americans made with ground buffalo, antelope or deer and nuts and fruits).
We now have a Free Library so you can pick a book, read it at the Diamond A Ranch or take it with you on your travels. When you are done with the book, you can find another Free Library and return it there. Near the Free Library is a "Take a Stick, Leave a Stick" Library for dogs.
Diamond A Cattle Company has both an indoor and an outdoor roping / rodeo arena. Events held at the arenas are barrel racing, bull riding, team penning, team roping and Cowboy Mounted Shooting.
Corriente cattle used for team roping, steer wrestling and bull riding are raised on the Diamond A Cattle Co. We will show off our cattle on our ranch tour.
If you are traveling in your own RV, we have electrical hookups located next to the cabin. We charge $25 per hookup.

Rustic duplex sleeping cabin, share a wall with the other side of the duplex. This unit has a private tub/shower, heat & air, small refrigerator & two full beds. No tv, internet can be spotty.We are located on 160 acres within the 27,766 acre Norbeck Wildlife Preserve & in the middle of the Black Hills National Forest. The mile-high elevation assures cool evenings in which to sit back & gaze at the never-ending stars. Wildlife abound, turkey, deer, foxes, rock chucks, & squirrels to name a few!

The space
The bunkhouse is located on what was previously the Triple "R" Dude Ranch. The owner's decided to semi-retire after 30+ years of running a successful business. The most delightful thing about the property is the location. Roll out of bed and roll into the National Forest! If you need civilization, we are a ten minute drive to Keystone. Our water is provided by a well and we recommend you bring drinking water. There is very limited cell phone service on the property depending upon your carrier. There is no television. No smoking. We request that you turn off outside lights when you're in for the evening, we love our dark skies! You will need to climb up 6 steps to enter. We are in the forest and there are bugs. It's recommended that you bring bug spray.

Because we are surrounded by wildlife preserves and USFS on three sides we are not allowed to have campfires and smoking is prohibited in the cabin and in the forest.

Guests will have a space to park and access to picnic tables on the property that may be shared with other guests.

Other things to note
If you are coming during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, August 1 to August 10, 2025, please know that the area will be unusually busy. Our property is not well suited for a motorcycle. The road becomes very muddy when it rains.

The duplex bunk house is located close to the Owner, Jack and Cherylee Bradt's private home and and another Cabin. The water comes from a well, it's full of minerals and it is advised guests bring their own drinking water.

We can accommodate up to eight people in this spacious, fully equipped 1356 sq foot cabin. There are three bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Total serenity in the northern Black Hills on an acre of wooded property. Snow mobile and ATV trails are approximately 1 mile away, 4.5 miles from Mickelson Trail. For a fun evening in town Deadwood is 8 miles. Mount Rushmore, Keystone, Reptile Gardens are all about a 45 minute drive.

We have 2 miles of gravel roads to get to our cabin off Hwy 85, with the last 1/4 mile being a steep incline. That being said, 4 wheel drive is a must in the winter and the road is not suitable for motorcyles. Wear snowboots in the winter.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Our Outlaw cabin is our only camping cabin on the property which allows pets (dogs) only. Guests staying in this cabin use the campground shower house for their bathing needs. The shower house is approximately 25 yards from the Outlaw cabin. This cabin has its own deck overlooking the needles mountains. You will have your own secluded fire pit and cooking grill. All bedding and linens are provided for you. This cabin does not have A/C.

The space
The Roost Resort is nestled on 8 acres with shaded pine and aspin trees. We have a few cabins already listed on Airbnb and have decided to list our 1 and only camping cabin located in our campground area. The Outlaw cabin sits on a small hillside overlooking the Needles mountains to the Northeast. You will be amongst friends as you gaze off into the distance and find many wildlife.

This cabin is situated under many Pine Trees. The cabin does NOT have A/C but does have baseboard heat for those mild chilly nights. Overhead ceiling fan is provided.

Guest access
The property is free to wonder and you are welcome to enjoy other parts of the property where the swing set, basketball hoop, horse shoes and the grain silo gazebo are all available. We do have animals on the property that can be viewed and petted.

Our 640 square foot Log Cabin is located in the quiet community of Silver City, Rapid Creek flows past town and we are surrounded by the Black Hills National Forest, perfect for getting away from it all. We live a block away for easy answers to questions and any help you may need. We now have Wi Fi at the cabin. We installed a shower for the claw foot tub.

Our 1940's Log Cabin is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, linens and towels, air conditioner and gas grill. You need to pick up groceries on your way. WiFi available.
