Guest Reviews:

- "We had a really great stay. The most amazing part was how the hosts knew what we wanted from them, without us ever saying it. Many other reviews talk about how helpful and interactive the hosts are. But we wanted a more private feel, and they just magically knew that and gave us a lot of space. And we still got to cash in on the famous zucchini bread that came fresh out of the oven just as we were checking out. The cabin and all of the areas around it have well thought out privacy screens that make you feel like you are alone, or at least way further away from the main house than you really are. The trail system was worth exploring. For two adults, give it about an hour of your time. If you have kids with you, you could easily spend hours out there checking out the gnomes, the horses, and the hidden forest swing. The listing is accurate for what is in the house and it is well appointed. The outdoor grill is adequate for grilling for two people. We did bring an extra cutting board which helped. Pro Tips - Hama Hama Oyster Saloon is 45 minutes away and one of the coolest day trips for a couple (especially with a reservation) - There are 3 disc golf courses within ~30 minutes. - There is a lot more to do and see at Harstine Island State Park (with a steep-ish hike involved) than there is at Jarrell Cove."

Guest Reviews:

- "Wonderful and relaxing" - "The cabin was perfect for our family of three. Nestled in a secluded quiet neighborhood near the lake and close to the Staircase area of ONP. The host was easy to work with and quick to respond to communications. Beds were comfortable and the cabin was well appointed with everything we needed to cook, do laundry, and find our way around the area. We were there during the hottest week of a very dry summer (according to the Park Ranger we met), but the cabin's air conditioning kept us cool day and night. Would definitely stay at Yeti Pines again!"

Guest Reviews:

- "My daughter and shared 5 totally wonderful nights at this property. The view and setting are absolutely amazing and so beautiful. We had perfect weather and my daughter actually swam, twice! The house was extremely comfortable, beds were great (I came home and ordered the same sheets as on the beds because I loved them), kitchen had everything we needed and we loved sitting on the deck. Only drawback is the noise, unfortunately. You really hear the traffic above and behind you. Not so bad at night because there's less traffic, but those big trucks make a lot of noise especially with the windows open. Otherwise, we had a fabulous and relaxing time!"

Surrounded by towering evergreen trees, this cozy A-frame style cabin is a perfect location to explore what Hood Canal and the Olympics have to offer, or those looking for a place to unwind.
For the outdoor enthusiast, there are plenty of options! For those who hike, nearby are several trails; Mount Rose, Mount Ellinor, Staircase to name a few. Lake Cushman Golf Course is just 9 minutes away, and we have a few discs for you to try the disc-golf that is 7 minutes away. With just a 3-minute walk to a private community park, you’ll have access to the lake for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, as well as access to the boat launch, dock, and playground all while being enveloped by the jaw-dropping Olympics. Want to picnic at the lake? We have a cooler for your convenience, as well as beach towels to soak up the sun. We also have a parking pass for guest parking at the private community parks.
Nestled in a quiet Lake Cushman neighborhood, this contemporary-updated cabin with knotty pine walls sleeps 6 and features 2 bedrooms on the main floor, one with a king, and one with a queen bed, as well as a three-quarter bath with a stand-up shower. In the living room, the floor to ceiling windows give a peak-a-boo view of the Olympics through the magnificent trees and hopefully you’ll catch a glimpse of the deer that walk through nightly. The kitchen offers many amenities that will support your culinary talents and in addition to the kitchen necessities, boasts several small appliances including an air-fryer, rice cooker, and waffle iron. Upstairs in the loft, there are two futons that convert to full size beds. Also in the loft is a large smart-TV to login to your favorite streaming services, as well as a Blue-Ray DVD player and assortment of movies. With a ductless heat and air conditioning unit, several cozy blankets, and fans, you’ll be comfortable no matter the weather.
For those looking to relax, we have several board games, card games, and books for you to enjoy. We also recommend relaxing on the large deck and taking in the views. Out the sliding doors you’ll find a hammock, propane grill, dining table and covered outdoor lounge seating. We suggest a game of corn-hole under the twinkling patio lights during the summer nights.
Because the cabin is in the heart of the Olympic Mountains, cell service can be spotty so enabling Wi-Fi calling on your phones is your best bet. Wi-Fi is available at the cabin, and cell service improves once you are in the town of Hoodsport (about 12 min drive).
Accessibility – There are 9 stairs to get to the front door. Once inside, everything you should need is on the main floor. The loft has narrow and steep stairs that are part of the original build in 1971. There is no dishwasher, but dish soap and drying rack are provided. Washer and dryer are available.
Typically, there is a burn ban during the summer months and fireworks are prohibited on Lake Cushman. Fires are not allowed on the property. If you are bringing a boat, please let us know so we can order a boat launch pass (additional fees apply).
We look forward to hosting you at Deer Creek Cabin. Please note that guests are required to complete the rental agreement attached, along with the 2 ID items listed on page 3 of the agreement within 24 hours of booking.

- "Quiet little spot at the end of a road. Only 9 min drive from our dive location. Really clean and nicely decorated. Would stay here again." - "The cabin was very clean and equipped with everything we needed (except a corkscrew). I took my son and his girlfriend for a little trip for his birthday and we went to see Rocky Brook Falls in Brinnon. The fall was breathtaking and a very short easy walk from the car. The town of Hoodsport is full of friendly people. All shops were open on Sunday and we shopped along the water. I loved the beds. The master bedroom mattress was one of the most comfortable I’ve EVER slept on. There we’re beautiful painted rocks all over and paint to do our own. There was a shed full of outdoor games and a ton of games and puzzles and cards for all ages inside. Thank for sharing your home we had a great time. 😀 Would definitely come back!"

- "The tiny house was perfect for us. Wish we had more time. Maybe next time." - "We were looking to stay somewhere close to Stsircase so we could visit the campground and area but have a dry place to sleep. This little cabin was perfect! It had everything you could want and it was laid out so efficiently. There were four us who stayed with our dogs and we were able to hang out and watch a movie with the help of a small air mattress. The cabin felt very private despite neighbors all around. Unfortunately we didn’t get to utilize the fire pit area but we were able to borrow beach chairs to sit by the river at Staircase while the sun made an appearance. I would definitely stay here again and I’ve already recommended it to friends and family."

Five minute walk to Lake Kokanee, 10 minute drive to Lake Cushman and Hoodsport and 20 minutes to Olympic National Park’s Staircase entrance!

The Space:
A place to settle in and gather with family and friends, the main living space offers a free-standing midcentury fireplace and complimentary wood, table for board games and puzzles, interest books, bluetooth/record player combo with classic vinyl, and an extra cozy Poly & Bark sofa sleeper for two.

An updated bathroom includes vintage Singer sewing machine vanity and complimentary bath and body products from Public Goods, soothing rain shower head, and both quick-drying Turkish and buttery soft waffle towels to dry off after your shower or a relaxing dip in the hot tub.

In addition to the sofa sleeper, there are two dedicated bedroom areas. Downstairs is a bedroom with a queen size bed and twin trundle allowing for flexible sleeping arrangements. Enjoy the topography wallpaper reminiscent of the changing elevation of the Olympic Mountain range.

Upstairs is an iconic and spacious a-frame ceiling sleeping loft where you’ll find the primary bedroom space. A flex closet space provides ample storage for clothing and full size washer and dryer combo. Additional sitting area with tv is the perfect place to cozy up with a good book or movie. Both bedrooms offer super soft (and perfectly wrinkly:) linen sheets and Pendleton wool blankets, as well as jviews overlooking a forested community green belt.

Out on the front deck you’ll find a six-person hot tub ready to go. Dining table for six and BBQ with tools and counter space for summer and shoulder season grilling adds to the vibe.

A fenced side yard for little ones and pooches alike also includes an all-weather extra stretchy hammock for hanging under the trees. Kick back and watch native Trillium flowers pop up from the rolling moss in early spring.

Out in the extended yard is a solo stove fire pit and durable Polywood adirondack chairs for s‘mores and after-dark hang outs. Recreational shed with kayaks, picnic gear, yard games, scooters, bicycles, snow play and more all available for use during your stay. Helmets and life jackets for both adults and children provided. Shellfish can be harvested at several public beaches or found at local shellfish farms, such as Hama Hama in Lillawaup.

Guest Reviews:

- "We just got back from a week long trip driving through PNW. Stayed at a few places. This one by far was the best. The attention to detail was amazing. They thought of everything as far as I could tell. Quiet little forest place to unplug and really relax. Likely to rebook as soon as I can find a reason to do so." - "Property is beautiful with many things to do. Its a loft-style cabin so it definitely forced us to be together which was the whole point of this trip. All the small little details made everything so cute! We definitely took advantage of the activity shed. Went kayaking at lake kokanee, biking, hiking at the staircase to Olympic national park, bonfire with smores, hot tub, played scrabble, and bbq. My kids found the super Nintendo which came with tons of games. I got some reading done on the hammock outside which was really relaxing. Jessica was really great with communication. "

The hot tub and pool are at the clubhouse, about two blocks away, and are only accessible during the summer months, Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Common question: Is the island spelled Harstine or Harstene?

Both are right. The island was named after Lieutenant Henry J. Hartstene, an officer and a member of an expedition commonly called the Wilkes Expedition that explored South Puget Sound in 1841. He spelled his last name both ways, hence the confusion.

We acknowledge with gratitude that the island is the ancestral land of the Squaxin people, who steward this land and neighboring, uninhabited Squaxin Island.

The private community park on Lake Cushman is less than a mile away. An easy walk.

Off hours you can easily explore the Olympic National Park located within 5 miles.

From here you will never lack for things to see and do!

The space
We are located on a large lot with two empty lots on each side adding lots of privacy for the cabin. Trees block views of cabins in front and behind us so it is an "escape" into the forest for sure.

The wrap around deck is good for BBQ's, and there is a peek-a-view of the lake. The new swing chair is relaxing and comfortable.

Inside you'll find comfy furniture to nestle into and even a massage chair for you to enjoy after work.

The dining room is adjoined to the living room giving the home an open feeling. You'll enjoy the numerous kitchen appliances to use should you like to cook.

You will love the hot showers in the newly remodeled bathroom with large capacity stackable washer/dryer unit ready to use!

Cozy, dog-friendly cabin in Olympia
Cabin
Carlyon Beach

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Only 15 minutes from downtown Olympia with access to the Puget Sound and an easy kayak away to Hope Island. Relax on the expansive porch, bbq, roast marshmallows in one of two fire pits or soak in the brand new hot tub. Have a picnic outdoors with the family. Our community does not allow short-term rental, therefore, we can only rent the cabin for a minimum of 6 months. Smaller stays will not be accepted.

A Woodsy Cabin Near the Lake
Cabin
Mason County

Enjoy a quiet retreat to a cabin shaded by pines, and walking distance to a spectacular clean lake. Community lakeside park access included.

The neighborhood is positioned on the border of the state forest and Olympic National Park, and walking distance to Lake Cushman.

This cabin features complete amenities including a kitchen, laundry, and 1gig internet.

The night time is exceptionally quiet, except for the occasional Northern Spotted Owl call.

The space
The driveway is generous, and can fit at least three vehicles with the third parked on the side of the house. It looks like it could fit a 20 foot boat trailer as well, though I have never tried it.

The bedrooms are separated by a heavy divider, so you can join them to be one large room instead if you prefer. Both sides have their own access to the porch by sliding glass door.

The kitchen is stocked with most tools needed for cooking, including a modest selection of spices.

The landing space under the loft on the second floor is large enough to fit a queen sized air mattress if you would like to bring additional guests (air mattress is not included).

The TV is best utilized by chromecast casting, but it does also have easily accessible HDMI ports if that's what you prefer. The soundbar provides 5.1 sound to the TV, and can be separately connected to via bluetooth.

Guest access
Your access is for the entire property, and an LCMC guest pass is provided for parking at the nearby lakeside park. You will need to purchase a separate boat launch fee if you would like to use the boat launch, which can be done at the LCMC office.

Other things to note
Despite the modern conveniences, this is still very much a cabin. The second story floorboards are also the ceiling of the first floor, which allows heat from the wood stove to naturally pass between levels. This also allows sound to pass down to wherever it pleases, so just expect to hear foot steps if you're on different floors and be wary of scandalous stories in mixed company.

You are free to use any of the mixers in the bar cart (bar globe).

Play games in front of the warm wood burning stove or make s'mores around the fire pit. Whether you are reconnecting with loved ones or embracing a solo getaway, this cabin offers everything you need for a perfect escape.

The space
When you enter this cozy cabin the unique natural wood elements throughout brings the outside in as your gaze is drawn out the front windows to your private dock on a small non-motorized lake. Put your bags down, take a deep breath and start to relax.

The cabin has all the modern amenities such as fabulous wifi, washer/dryer, and full bath with shower. The warmth on chilly days or nights comes from a wood burning stove that also provides a lovely ambiance for all your indoor activities.

There are two spacious bedrooms (one king and one queen) both with closets and dressers so you can unpack and feel at home.

You can prepare great meals in a well equipped kitchen or warm up take out from any of the restaurants in town about 20 minutes away. Please note that the range is apartment sized.

There is also a dedicated office space with a computer desk and extra screen if this a workcation.

A canoe, kayak and a paddle board are available for your enjoyment as well as life jackets. There is a collection of board games and DVDs for your entertainment as well as a Roku stick for you to log into your favorite streaming services.

Please note that this is a cabin and there is very little sound proofing between floors and bedrooms so sound does travel. No secrets here!

Guest access
Guests have full access to the entire cabin except a storage area under the deck as well as some of the storage in the entry way.

Guests also have access to the stocked lake via private dock on property.

Other things to note
This is a peaceful community and noise travels easily over water. Please respect all the neighbors. No parties ever and no loud music or noises after 10 pm especially outside.

Guests over the age of 15 have to have a fishing license in the state of WA. To find more information please go to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife website. You can eat the fish (trout and bass) from the lake if they are big enough and you know how to clean and prepare it.

Please make sure a life jacket is worn if using any of the watercraft. Guests assume all responsibility for personal safety while on the water.

There is wildlife around. Deer and geese often graze in the yard and there have been sightings of the occasional otter in the lake, raccoons and opossum loping around. You leave them alone and they will do the same! Please do not feed them.

As noted elsewhere there is free access to a lake and a steep staircase inside. Children must be monitored at all times.

Please no smoking of any kind in or around the cabin! Thank you.
