The staff did their best and were quite pleasant, but it was not very convenient and no compensation was offered. The place certainly had some redeeming features but it is not your typical lake side cottage experience because it is a working marina and therefore not particularly quiet or relaxed."

We are happy to offer our new two bedroom cottage on popular Skeleton Lake. Known as Muskoka's Best Kept Secret, Skeleton Lake is best known for its crystal clear waters, sandy swimming coves, great fishing, water sports, hiking and beautiful summer sunsets. Our cozy cottage is located at the end of a quiet bay and has beautiful views of the islands. With a similar feel to our popular Skeleton Lake Boathouse( VRBO 470888) which is across the bay, our 650 square foot two bedroom cozy cottage is cozily decorated and has an additional 200 square foot covered side porch. Our living room has a flat screen satellite tv, wifi, a pull out sofa and our kitchen offers upgraded appliances including fridge. microwave cooktop and dishwasher. Four kayaks, a canoe and two paddle boards can be found at the private sandy shore line where you can swim or paddle to the private floating dock. This property is rented from Friday to Friday. This cottage is located approximately 20 - 25 minutes to Rosseau or Huntsville where you can dine and explore all of the quaint shops and summer time markets. Please note that seasonal rentals both spring and fall are a minimum of 3 nights. High season which is the last week in June to labor day weekend is a 1 week minimum rental period. The cottage is set up to accommodate two couples or a small family of 2 children. Additional cost will apply for additional people at $75.00 per person per night for a maximum of 6 persons. Go swimming at the beach which is not usually busy and is great for small children, or play some board games and cards with friends and family. Both bedrooms are equipped with black out curtains so you wake up when you are ready, or have a nap in darkness. A large soaker tub where you can definitely unwind, and not to worry there is a second bathroom so you don't need to fear being interrupted. Spend some time on the trails, minutes to the Taboo golf course or grab a ticket for a tour around Lake Muskoka on the famous steamships. In the summer just float on the water or in the winter bring your sled and jump on the trails. Lots to do and not too far away. Algonquin park is an hour away if you want to do day trips. Music at the local theatre and in season amazing bands at Bala, or 30 minuets from Casino Rama if you want to catch a show.

2. A liability form must be signed in order to use any of the water sporting equipment. There will be various lifejackets to use, however, it is mandatory that anyone who uses the watercraft must wear a lifejacket. It is encouraged to bring your own to guarantee a lifejacket will fit
3. The fire wood will not be provided, so please bring your own. Please put the fire out at the end of each night.
4. If the outside patio furniture or chairs are moved throughout the day, please put everything back where they belong by the end of the day. This is to ensure that none of the furniture is picked up by the water current or change in active weather.
5. Your Furry friends are welcome at additional charge.

We Provide: Bed sheets, blankets, pillows, BBQ, propane tank, picnic table, outdoor Muskoka chairs, cleaning supplies, broom, mop & pail, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, kitchen cooking equipment & dinnerware, 1 ply toilet paper (we are on a septic system – only 1 ply or paper that specifically says septic friendly) We have put in a water filtration system with UV lighting so now the water is safe to drink from the taps. You no longer need to bring drinking water. We supply garbage/recycling bags we just ask you bring it home with you for disposal because there is no area for garbage disposal on the Island. Life jackets / PFD’s (although we provide some to be used at your own risk, life jackets /PFD’s should always be properly fitted to provide appropriate protection – you must provide kids sizes) Kayaks, paddle board, paddle boats, are free on an as-available basis.

The space
A peaceful spot to read a book at the water's edge, unwind, swim, fish or go for a paddle. A 10-minute drive to downtown Bracebridge, 3 golf courses, 2 scenic waterfalls, award-winning local breweries, live music venues, and access to some of Muskoka's top tourist attractions — this cottage offers a fun and easy four season getaway. Located just across the river from the undeveloped Bracebridge Resource Management Area, you'll find extensive hiking, cross country skiing and mountain biking trails within a groomed woodland setting at no cost. Come home after a long day of activities to your beautiful west facing natural view.

Your surroundings: The cottage is located on a dead-end dirt road with wonderful neighbours immediately on both sides. The water is very private as there are no cottages across the river. The cottage looks out onto the river; stroll from your front door right to the water.

Enjoy the entire cottage experience — from the cozy interior and the forested backyard to your own private piece of riverside in coveted Muskoka. Help yourself to the backyard shed where you’ll find games and accessories including water toys, badminton rackets, life jackets and canoe paddles.

Our kitchen is stocked with all the essentials to prepare meals, including a complete set of cookware, utensils, oil and salt.

The cottage is right on the water, lots of wildlife, great for bird watching, Large 4 lake system, miles of boating on Gloucester pool, then for a further adventure it is connected to Georgian bay by locks on the Trent Severn. Honey Harbor, Midland, Whites Falls and lots of provincial parks close by, great fishing, ATV and hiking trails, fish right off the dock

The space
Only 1.5 hours from Toronto. Time to get out of the city and up to the cottage.

600 Sq/ft 3 bedroom cottage, bedroom 1 is a double bed, bedroom 2 is a double bed, and bedroom 2 is a bunk bed (2 twins). Sleeps 6. 4 piece bathroom (Bath Tub).

Cottage has Air conditioning, Bell ExpressVU Satellite TV, High-speed internet, fridge, stove, microwave, Coffee maker, Keurig, toaster, and outdoor BBQ. Hot/Cold running water. All utensils, dishes, cups, pots, pans included. There is a shared canoe and 2 kayaks included at the waterfront with supplied equipment, e.g. life jackets, paddles, safety equipment, etc.

Just bring your pillow cases, bed sheets, comforters/blankets and towels, as NO Linens are supplied. No Pets, No Smoking.

The cottage is right on the water, lots of wildlife, great for bird watching, Large 4 lake system, miles of boating on Gloucester pool, then for a further adventure it is connected to Georgian bay by locks on the Trent Severn. Honey Harbor, Midland, Whites Falls and lots of provincial parks close by, great fishing, ATV and hiking trails, fish right off the dock, horse shoe pit,etc. Some of the wildlife you should see around our waterfront are Beavers, Loons, Great Blue herrings, White Swans, Mallard Ducks, Terns (Plunge Dive fishers), Minks, Muskrats, etc. Some of the fish in our waters are Large/Small Mouth Bass, Crappie, Northern Pike, Perch, Muskie, WallEye. There are many other lakes too in the area for excellent fishing adventures.

This place is great for a multiple family rental. Get your Best Friends family, In-laws, or whoever together. Share your vacation together, but with your own space for each of your family's. We offer discount package for rental of both cottages at the same time.

July and August we prefer rentals of 6+ nights. Shorter rentals last minute will be accepted a few days before if it does not get booked up for the week.

This fully renovated cottage is only a short walk to the beach access (100 feet) and is fully winterized for year round use. The lake has a boat launch and local rentals for canoes or paddle boards. There are also snow mobile trails and the ability to ice fish on the lake in winter, with fall being an amazing time to see the leaves change colour.

All beds and the futon have mattress covers, but no linens or bedding is provided. You must bring your own sheets, towels and pillows.

Come and relax at our beautiful 3 bedroom, plus bunkie cottage located minutes from Windermere and 15 mins from Port Carling. Beautiful views of Three Mile lake(from house and dock) with amazing sunrise shining in every morning. It's a great getaway for the entire family including pets or a romantic getaway. Enjoy some canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating and fishing off the dock during the day and cozy up to a fire either in the outdoor fire pit or wood burning fireplace.

The cottage is comprised of 3 bedrooms with full kitchen, bathroom, living room with wood burning fireplace and direct view of the lake. We also have a bunkie( not winterized) that has a queen bed and bunk bed along with a sink for washing up and brushing your teeth( sink is shut down during winter months) There is also a outdoor full bathroom bunkie with a toilet and shower(this gets shut down during the winter months)

The Granite Hill Cottage is a cozy rail workers’ home that has been lovingly transformed into a couple's retreat. It includes a private hot tub, massage area, & workspace with wifi. Across the road from The Cove Marina with boat launch, this is a friendly spot to explore all of Muskoka. Minutes from towns of Port Carling & Minett, for fine dining, local grocers, LCBO, golf, spas, beaches & marinas.

The GHC is for train lovers - there is a rail line close by and trains pass and blow their horn.

The space
The GHC is a former railway workers’ home nestled on a granite ridge. 'The Cove' Marina on Lake Joseph is approx. 800m across Highway 169. In the summer it offers lake access, a boat launch, Shaw's Ice Cream Shop, patio, and a small convenience store. (Bringing a boat? Read below).

The Good
The GHC has been reimagined and renovated in a rustic and modern Canadiana style, with new kitchen, new bath, new acacia wood floors, and woodsy finishings. The main living area is open plan with kitchen, dining and living areas, outfitted with a leather sofa, electric fireplace, new 50" TV, streaming video, and a small desk for working.

Down the hall you'll find the primary bedroom with a dresser, and the bonus massage area with a massage table and fresh linens.

The Muskoka room in the back is a 3-season room which overlooks the granite outcroppings at the back of the property and allows access to the hot tub, the backyard, BBQ and fire pit areas. The landscape around the GHC is wrapped in the wonders of Muskoka - a series of beautiful granite outcroppings, ancient lichens, succulents and the evergreens that are iconic in the Muskoka Lakes area. Guests are invited to make a bonfire in the firepit.

Hot Tub Use
You will have exclusive and private use of the hot tub. We ask all guests to agree to the hot tub rules and hot tub waiver as a condition of booking a stay. These can be found in the house rules.

Bringing Your Boat
For guests interested in bringing their boat to launch on Lake Joseph please visit The Cove Marina's website for details. The marina has a dock and public boat launch.

The Not-As-Good
The GHC is best suited for train lovers - as there is an active rail line close by and trains are required to blow their horn. Also, the old-fashioned signs with black bears being in Muskoka are telling the truth - please be mindful that we are sharing this area with wildlife. We ask that you keep any food waste indoors, and remove your trash when you leave to prevent our friend Bruce the Bear from coming around and scaring everyone and himself. Lastly, there is a fixer upper within view next door as it is a residential area.
