- "It was a very calm, peaceful stay. The wonderful, bubbling water features could be seen and heard from our room. The breakfasts were very delicious. Eating breakfast on the front porch while watching and listening to a half dozen different bird species sing to us was quite enjoyable. The room was exquisite. Beautiful sleigh bed, very comfortable chairs and couch. The internet connectivity was strong and consistent. There are three great restaurants within walking distance and the downtown area, the arts district, and Trader Joes, Whole Market, and Harris Teeter were all within a 10-15 minute drive. This was our second stay at the wonderful Black Walnut."

The bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet for sleeping. The breakfast each day was a 3 course consisting of a blended smoothie to start, followed by a small yogurt parfait or waffle and then the main dish that was a bit more substantial. " - "The place is clean, I was supplied with what we needed for our stay and kitchen is fully equipped, it’s a golf course, very pleasant, and it’s gated there is security lots of places to walk there is a waterfall near by I travel with family, my children went on walks early morning to the waterfall near by and chilled by the fireplace at night, has a chimney it’s very nice at night, works great, there is a small laundry area, there is 3 levels master is comfortable size and has its own bathroom. Overall was a great experience. It’s at the top of the mountain, and does have all the dining options and shops at the bottom. Groceries near by as well. Check out it’s at 10am, has balconies to seat and relax sip coffee, hot cocoa, lovely weather too, oh we even spotted a bear so yes! There are bears roaming the property, for us that was a plus."

The on sight restaurant, Appalachia, has some of the best food you’ll have on Lake Lure. Great views again overlooking the lake. A well stocked bar. They recently added a boathouse down on the lake that has a dock bar as well as paddle boards and kayaks. You can even book an evening cruise on the lake on their new pontoon. The owner was on sight our week as well and is a wonderful person to talk to as well as he pitches in to serve food and make sure everyone is doing well and is enjoying. The general manager does the same and the staff are all top notch. We will be going back for a stay!"
