The workers will not come onto the rental property, and we greatly appreciate your patience concerning their presence on the surrounding property.

We will do our best to schedule work to happen from Tuesday to Thursday.We will focus on performing tasks near the vacation rental from the late morning to the afternoon. Operators and crew supervisors will be made aware of the potential for guests and sensitivity.

The View & Vine Bungalow is a luxurious two bedroom, two bathroom home in the heart of Oregon's Wine Country in downtown Newberg. Completely remodeled with upscale finishes and fixtures, the bungalow is light-filled, cozy, and fresh while still retaining much of the 1920's Craftsman charm.

Enjoy a best-of-all worlds location: drive 10-20 mins to the region's best wineries, walk 2-3 blocks to downtown tasting rooms and restaurants, and return to the bungalow for a peaceful night's sleep.

An eclectic, upscale bohemian style influenced the design, with locally-found vintage items mixing with new designer pieces and comfortable, cozy furnishings. Two private master bedrooms with king beds and en-suite baths make it a great fit for two couples travelling together, a small family, or a luxurious girls trip in wine country.

Entry into the bungalow is from the back of the home; self check-in is provided via keypad. The driveway has space for two cars, and the open carport covers the entry and optionally provides coverage for outside dining and lounging. As you enter, you’ll walk up a few stairs into a cozy dining nook for four that overlooks Rotary Park and the Chehalem Cultural Center. Also near the entry are a full-size washer and dryer, with free & clear detergent, an iron and ironing board.

The kitchen has been beautifully and thoughtfully fitted with custom cabinetry, and high-end appliances, including a 5-burner gas range, french door refrigerator with filtered water and ice, dishwasher, toaster oven and microwave.

The living room is spacious and flooded with natural light from huge picture windows. The adjacent game room, which can also be used as a workspace or larger dining area, seats four in comfy velvet arm chairs at an antique french table.

There are two bedrooms, one downstairs and one up; both have king beds with amazingly comfortable medium-firm gel memory foam mattresses, high quality sheets, plush duvets and plenty of pillows of varying firmness. Nightstands, lamps and outlets are easily accessible at each side of the bed. Closets with no-slip hangers, drawer/cubby space and luggage racks in each make packing and unpacking a breeze.

Each bedroom has its own bathroom, with natural light, beautifully tiled showers, quartz-topped custom vanities, large mirrors and designer fixtures. Ultra-fluffy towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, cotton swabs and an upscale real-deal hair dryer are all there ready for you to enjoy.

Outside, the beautifully landscaped back garden has a Weber natural gas grill, dining area that seats four, and an herb garden you are welcome to make use of. Parking for two cars in the adjacent driveway is available. The Bungalow's back yard connects with the View + Vine Cottage next door, which is available for rent together or separately, creating the potential for 3 bedrooms and 3 baths between the two homes and a joined outdoor space to host your group.

You'll have full and private access to the Bungalow, which is a stand-alone home. You'll also have full access to the Bungalow's side of the back yard, which connects to but is divided from the Cottage's yard next door.

We have no doubt The Vine & View Cottage will be the perfect spot for you to enjoy everything Oregon's wine country and the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

It was easy to go to campus and walk back to the house. Neighborhood is quiet and safe, located across from a playground so families are around. Everything is thought of in the home. Fresh towels, A/C or heat, a fully stocked kitchen, laundry on site, private carport. An entry code rather than a key made entering and exiting easy. Even the bathrooms have toiletries in cute bottles, and although it’s a bungalow, it felt like a hotel! We will be back!! Thank you for helping make the transition dropping off our college kid easier with a nice home to hang out and rest in."

Within an hour to 1 1/2 hrs drive we have Mt Hood, the Evergreen Aviation Museum, the Grande Rhonde Casino , the Oregon Coast , Oregon Gardens, Silver Falls, George Fox University, Linfield College and, of course, Portland and all it has to offer.

That's just a beginning. We have lists of wineries, suggestions of restaurants, hiking trail books and other ideas of available attractions and things to do.

This charming 1950’s one bedroom, one bathroom cottage is on Sheridan Street in the heart of Newberg in Oregon’s wine country. Newly renovated with original charm, the cottage is within a short walking distance to downtown tasting rooms and restaurants, yet private and serene at night.

Freshly updated in 2017 with modern, upscale fixtures and finishes, we tried to keep the cottage charm while creating a space that’s perfectly comfortable for a long weekend, or more in wine country. Almost everything’s new here except the charming wood floors, cute niches, coved ceilings and arched doorways. Multiple large windows (new and double-paned) in each room, and a small frosted one in the bath, allow for lots of natural light and a feeling of openness beyond the cozy 720 square foot size.

Just inside the cottage’s front door, the cozy living room has a top-of-the-line custom sofa with a memory foam sleeper that feels like a real bed; sofa bed linens can be found in the hall closet. Plush navy velvet ottomans double as a coffee table, and the flat screen TV is equipped with streaming capability with your own subscriptions. Board games and a desk are available for work and play.

To play music from the living room speaker (it’s under the TV), make sure your device is connected to the wifi network, download the SONOS app and follow the prompts. You’ll need to connect to your personal music accounts (Spotify, Pandora, etc.) or music files on your device.

Finally, in the dining room just left of the front door, we’ve created a mini mud room with hooks and a shoe rack for corralling your outdoor gear. An umbrella is available for use during your stay; please ensure it makes its way back to the hook before you check out.

The large bedroom has a king size modern farmhouse style bed with an amazingly comfortable medium-firm gel memory foam mattress, 100% cotton sheets, a plush down-like duvet and tons of pillows of varying firmness. USB and pronged outlets are easily accessible at each side of the bed for charging your devices. A huge closet and vintage dresser will hold all your things, and a velvet bench and luggage rack make packing and unpacking a breeze. We’ve supplied high quality no-slip hangers in the closet of each bedroom, 10 in each. Please make sure to leave them here for other guests’ use.

The modern cottage-style bathroom has been completely redone with a beautifully tiled shower, rain shower head and marble-topped wood vanity. A frosted window adds natural light while maintaining privacy, and multiple light fixtures make it easy to get ready on cloudy mornings. Ultra-fluffy towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, cotton swabs and an upscale real-deal hair dryer are all there ready for you to enjoy.

The kitchen is huge and beautifully outfitted with brand-new everything, including a teak eat-in bar counter, 5-burner gas range, and sleek wine fridge. Everything you need to cook meals is included, down to the olive oil, flour and kosher salt: just add your groceries. (The 24-hour Thriftway is blocks away, and has all the usual needs and many organic choices; Ray’s is a great place to pick up avocados, other produce items, and some great Mexican and Central American goods.) You are welcome to use anything you find in the kitchen, including the dry goods, spices and seasonings in the pull out pantry.

The laundry room has a full size washer dryer, free & clear detergent, an iron and ironing board. Accessed via a door in the laundry room, the beautifully landscaped back garden has a Weber natural gas grill, small dining area, and an herb garden you are welcome to make use of for meals (or cocktails, perhaps?). The grill runs on natural gas, and is permanently connected – no tank refilling needed. Grill-specific utensils are kept in the kitchen. You’re welcome to any of herbs in the cedar planter: lemon verbena, rosemary, thyme and mint. Please clip sparingly and only take what you will use, so that others may also enjoy. There are scissors for this purpose in the kitchen.

Parking for two cars in the driveway is available. The back yard connects with the Bungalow next door, which is also available for rent together or separately, creating the potential for 3 bed 3 baths between them.

Our secluded neighborhood offers the perfect area for walking, running, or bike riding and the wineries of Dundee are soooo close!

Be warned that we live on the edge of the forest. Owls, deer, racoons, squirrels, possums, and foxes frequent our yard.

The space

Historically a queer community home, our large house is welcoming, loving, respectful, inclusive, and quiet ~ with high ceilings and Victorian architectural touches. The Backyard Tiny House is lined with cedar, cozy and airy - and small. Folks are typically working during the day (though we've frequently had nurses on the night shift as well) with a gentle hum of activity in the evenings. Walk to shops, restaurants, bars, groceries, parks. Big covered porch, hot tub, outdoor spaces to enjoy.

The space
The Backyard Tiny House was handbuilt on top of a classic pickup truck bed. It's well insulated and lined in cedar, which is cozy and smells great. There's just enough room for a single bed, with benches for storage and hangout space. The yard is fully fenced and private. Access to the bathroom and kitchen are immediately inside the back door. Access to dining room, library, sitting room as well. There is a heater, but please note there is no AC, but there is a lovely fan which cools down the space.

This place is located in a convenient location within walking distance to shopping and transportation. 11 minutes a way from airport and 15 minutes away from downtown. You do not need a car. This is a casual friendly environment. The room has mini fridge a desk single bed closet and storage. Taxes are waved on Booking for 31 days and more .

The Magic House is in the heart of a peaceful, charming restaurant and boutique district, 3 blocks to SE Hawthorne and Division. 15 minutes to the Airport, Convention Center, Downtown and walking distance to the Hawthorne Theater for concerts.

You have the entire Magic Second Floor with a private bathroom. Guests staying in the Magic Attic above will share the front door, stairway, 2nd floor hallway. Other guests will be on the 1st Floor Casa Magica.

The space

Good people of all colors and orientations are welcome. Love for all creation is practiced here.

The Magic House is located in the peaceful Richmond district of Southeast Portland. It is lovely to walk through the neighborhood to nearby SE Hawthorne or Division streets. There are restaurants and rental bikes within 3 blocks , and lots of free street parking on our block.

Your room is the Magic Mustard Room. There is a very small kitchenette with microwave, mini fridge, located in the adjacent bedroom, and no TV. There is a hot water heater, coffee and tea in your room to get you going in the morning. There is a breakfast cafe one block away.

A second bedroom is available for groups of more than two people for additional cost. Please request the extra room so we can know to prepare it.

Please enter the correct number of guests and Airbnb will add an extra guest fee after the first two guests. Prices below.

Hobie is your onsite co-host and can assist if you need anything during your stay.

When required by law, or at your personal discretion, please wear a mask while entering and exiting.

The colors are bright, the stairs are creaky, the floors are worn and full of stories since 1909! Most of the sculptures were sculpted right here between 2000 and 2017 by your host Todji. The Magic House has been a cultural hub for artists and musicians since 1990!

The Magic House was Todji's sculpture studio for 17 years. We hope you enjoy it's unique character, up-cycled furnishings, and artistry! Enjoy!

Hobie is a novelist and professional writer. We support the local art community by giving work at the Magic House to community artists.

We operate with a short term rental permit issued by the city or Portland. The city has conducted a safety inspection of the entire premises.

We use natural cleaning products, some of them are scented.

You are welcome to responsibly smoke legal substances outside. Please keep smoking materials in sealed containers when inside. There are many dispensaries within walking distance.

Todji did the restoration work on this vintage home over 25 years, while renting rooms to other artists and building a career in fine art sculpture, and producing public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities.

Hopefully you have seen some, or will see them one day!

Extra Services:

A second bedroom is available for $45 per person, per night, for up to 4 people total, 2 per bedroom.

Please enter the correct guest count so we can provide the right amount of towels and bedding.

For $15 you can request early check-in at 2 PM, or late check out at 1 PM, We charge $25 for same day requests if we are able to accommodate. We do not issue refunds if we make arrangements for you and then you change your plans.

Baggage storage until evening is $35, if Hobie can accommodate meeting with you for bag drop off and pick up.

Driveway parking is available on a first come first serve basis for $25.

Other things to note
The Magic House is very centrally located, and along with that convenience comes visual and audible street traffic. We are off of a fairly busy four lane street.

The Magic Mustard Room on the Magic 2nd Floor, is away from the street, and is the most quiet room in The Magic House.

We are in the heart of a very cool urban district that we consider safe. Walking through the neighborhood is very charming.

The Magic House was built in 1909 and restored personally by your host Todji. The stairs are creaky, and the floors are worn and full of stories.

This is a subdivided home and you likely will hear guests in the other units. Please be advised that voices carry between the Magic Attic and The Magic Second Floor.

A majority of our guests have enjoyed comfortable stays, but some of our guests have not preferred the busy street, or hearing other guests.

Five star location: Because The Magic House is on a busy street, our neighbors do not notice our guests coming and going. Nearby short term rental houses on the quiet residential streets have chronically disturbed neighbors. Our guests can feel 100% welcome knowing that they are not disturbing our neighbors, and locally owned businesses appreciate your patronage, just as we do! Thank you for respecting our neighbors and Hobie by honoring quiet time from 10PM to 9 AM by city law.

If you have booked for someone else, please inform us, and send us a photo of their ID through Airbnb messages. Please note that you are responsible for any damages by your guest.

We do not issue refunds that are outside of Airbnb's refund policies. If you want to change or cancel your reservation for a refund, please do so online or call Airbnb. If Airbnb declines to refund you, then we will also honor our rental agreement.

Todji rented rooms to artists for seventeen years while restoring The Magic House and building a career in fine art sculpture. The sculpture collection in the house rotates to different exhibitions.

We have a short term rental permit from the city of Portland which requires the following from our guests:

"You must keep and maintain a guest log book. Record the names and home addresses of guests, guest’s license plate numbers if traveling by car, dates of stay and the room assigned to each guest.'"

Please write the above information in our guest book when you arrive as required by the city of Portland.

Great for business-minded guests or tourists! The room has a separate entrance into the home, a shared bathroom and living room with other guests. 10 minutes (3.5 miles) to PDX. 15 minutes (6.5 miles) to downtown. Several restaurants are an easy walking distance.

The space
The room is for one guest only. Room gets dark with the curtain down. There is a fan in the room if you like to have white noise at night and there is also a space heater if you are cold. We turn the heat down while we sleep because it bothers my sinuses but I turn it back up as soon I wake up.
This room has a comfortable twin size bed.

My house is walking distance to my favorite bar, a sweet little coffee shop, good breakfast spot, pizza, whole foods, New Seasons and a few restaurants on Fremont. Irving park is a block away.
The convention center is a 3 minute drive and about a 20 minute walk. Downtown is a 5 minute drive...

I am allergic to tobacco, so only non-smokers, sorry.

You will have access to internet, bathroom, Refrigerator to store food and an awesome back deck.


I am a busy person, I will be happy to suggest places to go for fun and eat, but I will be doing my own thing most of the time. I am a professional dancer and sometimes practice and have rehearsals in the house.

It is not ok to set up an office in the house. I had this happen once so now I have to say it. Someone set up there computer on the dinning room table and continued to work from there making calls and so forth. This is fine from your bedroom.

Awesome neighborhood, great people and very safe. As I said before, great location.

Bus 6 is a 20 second walk down the street. That will take you through town.
