Aimee reached out to us ahead of time to make sure we understood all of their policies, and find out if we would be checking in late or not, and then confirmed with a phone call the day of. The houseboat was clean, with a small kitchenette (microwave, fridge, sink, dishes). A/C was already going! The towels were brand new and the view was exactly what we were looking for- a calm, peaceful marina with gentle waves lapping at the docks and the sunset on full display. Walking distance to the Blonde Giraffe Key Lime Factory, and a short drive to the Winn-Dixie. Plenty of places to eat nearby, or well equipped to eat a quiet meal in. Definitely will recommend to friends and family!"

Parking is free, but you should be sensitive that the marina is part of a working boat yard and don't park to obstruct traffic in and out. The toilet got numerous mentions in other reviews. Just follow the instructions on the wall. Fill the pitcher from the shower, pour in some water, close the lid and push the button. No paper or other items allowed in the toilet. The shower was a bit cool, and the plumbing needs some attention since there were small leaks from the valves. Overall we had a good and unique experience with our stay on the houseboat. Recommended for the adventuresome."

- "The property advertised the listing as a working sail boat you could stay on. Working meaning power. The amenities listed air conditioning, a bathroom, a kitchenette, etc. With those things, we thought there would be some sort of electricity. The listing also told me to call 48 hours in advance of the arrival date to get check in instructions. I was not able to reach anyone until a few hours before arrival. I was told it was a “primitive” site. However, I was also told that there would be power - an adaptor/battery would be a source of power. I was also told there was a 24 hour taxi service to get us from boat to shower and back being as though the boat itself was surrounded by water. Neither the power nor the taxi service were ever available. When wanting to get to the shore, we had to wait several hours for the host to come get us. We were finally given a dinghy. But the battery to it was taken. The host was hardly ever reachable and we were left in the water stranded for hours. The “bathroom” in the boat was a barely working toilet that begin backing up on the last night. Into our boat. Again, the host was not reachable. I was given a waiver to sign that had already been signed. We were told about several other “check ins” throughout the weekend that never actually arrived. The boat was very dirty. There was no running water or working bathroom as we were told there was. We were left stranded. "

- "Excellent. I am in Florida for disaster relief. No other hotels available. The owner made sure I had a place to stay and helped with anything needed. Yes, you are staying on a boat however, they make sure you are able to get to your car at whatever time to make it to work at whatever time day or night with free overnight parking. I was a little skeptical at first with it being off of land and out of the ordinary but they made sure it was accommodating for me. They provided disaster relief free food and water. Electricity usage is ran off of a generator and a battery which is more than the hotel I had to pay double for which had no electricity. There are multiple boats with other guests that are being accommodated with as well. This is really something I suggest people to give it a try. I am booking the next week. After you meet the crew you will understand how working hard people despite of the hurricane put all of their needs second to assist people they haven’t even met yet. Pay it forward people! - "Booked a two night, weekend stay. the “property” is an abandoned vessel moored about 200 yards off shore accessible by watercraft only. No running water. ‘Water provided’ for personal hygiene and sanitary uses consisted of six sixteen ounce bottles and one 1 gallon jug half full. The onboard toilet was inoperable and ‘maintenance’ never arrived to remedy the situation. Spent the first night with the smell of human waste in the air. Transportation to and from the abandoned vessel is offered via a ‘water taxi service’. After paying for ‘unlimited’ transport for two people ($25 per person) we were taken back to shore by Captains Sammie, to spend the day visiting the surrounding area. Upon our return in the evening, we called Sammie for a return trip around 6 pm and were told she was on her way. An hour and a half later, after multiple text messages and unanswered voicemails we realized that we had been screwed. Thanks to a couple that we met on the dock while waiting for the return trip, we were able to get back to the boat and retrieve our personal belongings. We didn’t stay the second night of our booking. "

- "I loved this property! We went to the cabins to celebrate my birthday. We knew ahead of time that the cabin we rented did not have AC, however, I called the owner to let her know our ETA, and we found out the cabin with the AC (runs on a generator) was available, and she was so accommodating and allowed us to stay in the comfort cabin instead. The property grounds are beautiful and quiet. There’s a nice dock where you can enjoy the river and watch the boats go by. The property also offers kayak, paddle board, and a pedal boat. The property owner was available for questions and gave great guides on the area and things to do. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed. The only thing I would say needs improvement is the cleanliness. The patio was a mess. You could tell it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There was garbage, dust and cobwebs everywhere. It could have been a bit neater. Otherwise, we had a fantastic time and will be back! Tip: we purchased a portable shower for 40$ on Amazon and it worked like a charm! Make sure you have lots of water with you. "

During your stay at Home A Wave, you will have 100% full access to the entire houseboat. This means you can make yourself at home and enjoy all the amenities and spaces available.

Getting Around:
Getting around from Home A Wave is a breeze. The property is easily accessible via Highway 17, with public buses servicing the area regularly. Ride-sharing options like Uber and Lyft are also available. For local attractions, consider walking or renting a bicycle. For further exploration, car rentals or taxis are a good choice. Boat rentals are also available for waterway adventures.

▶We are happy to accommodate small to medium-sized pets (20–50 lbs, 15–20 inches tall). This guideline helps us maintain cleanliness and protect the condition of the property. A non-refundable pet fee of $125 per pet per stay applies only if noted at booking. If not, we’ll request the fee manually. Pets outside the size range or undeclared may incur a $250 fine.
▶ NO SMOKING: This apartment is strictly non-smoking. Any evidence of smoking will result in a $250 fee.
▶ QUIET HOURS: No disruptive parties or events, regardless of size, are allowed. Please respect our neighbors and keep the noise down after 11 PM.
▶ NO FURNITURE MOVING: Please do not move any furniture in the apartment. A $250 penalty will apply for any violation of this rule.
▶ We are happy to accommodate small pets at our property. A non-refundable pet fee of $125 per pet per stay will be applied only to guests who indicate they are bringing a pet when making their reservation. ▶ TRASH: Please dispose of your trash responsibly.

▶ WINDOWS AND DOORS: Please keep all windows and doors closed to prevent insects and mold. If they're left open while the AC is on, you could be charged up to $500. For your comfort, keep the AC between 72-83°F.
▶ OUTDOOR ITEM USE: When using the grill or any covered areas, make sure to store covers properly to avoid them being carried away by the wind. You will be charged for any missing covers. Similarly, please close and tie the umbrella when not in use to prevent any wind-related damage. Keep in mind, it can get quite windy at times.
