Kayaks and paddle boards - spend your afternoon taking in the sights and wildlife as you paddle around crystal waters on one of our kayaks or paddle boards.

Fishing - Gone fishing? Thorn lake is stocked with trout and an assortment other fish and makes the perfect fishing hole for our angling guests.

3.) Living Room (Sleeps 2) - 1 Full/Queen mattress located in the loft. (Loft accessible by ladder only) Pull out couch is also an option here!

7.) ALL Trash must be BAGGED & taken to the dump at the transfer station.
8.) No roasting food in the fire pit or fireplace inside (Please use the grill!!)
9.) No food, drinks, or gum in the lofts!
10.) No more than 2 people in the loft!
11.) Please, please, please return all amenities & games to where they came from!
12.) Please clean up after your kiddos if they leave a mess!

~You will need a 4x4 vehicle in the winter (Nov - April) as Colorado gets lots of snow at 11,000ft. Base Camp is a 2 miles up a windy gravel road. In the winter the road is covered in snow and ice. The road is plowed, although you will need to be prepared with an adequate vehicle.

~ If traveling with a little one, we have you covered! We have a Pack-n-Play, baby gate, baby bathtub, bouncer, high chair, and sound baby monitor for your use.

~ Don't worry, we didn't forget about your fur baby. Dogs are welcome for an additional $100 pet fee (2 dog limit). This is put toward the extra time it takes our cleaner to get all hairs and messes even the most clean, well-behaved dogs leave, along with the longer term care we need to keep our house immaculate! A dog bed, food/water bowls, baggies and some dog toys are provided for your convenience.

~ We are in rural Colorado, and while having the highest speed internet choice, it could be spotty at times.

~ No AC - but thankfully you're in the Rocky Mountains! Open the windows and turn on the ceiling fan and we promise you won't be thinking about AC! You'll likely want a sweatshirt and blanket at night, even in the middle of summer.

~ Our cabin sits at 11,000 ft in elevation. Although most people are not effected, some may feel the effects of the altitude. Drink plenty of water, utilize the humidifiers, and take it easy.

~ Due to county fire bans and STR ordinances, outdoor open fires are prohibited. We provide a propane firepit for you to use and enjoy instead.

This modern mountain cabin is tucked out of the way in a dense forest, with sweeping views of the back side of Pikes Peak. You won't believe how peaceful it is! Yes, there is good WiFi! You're just a few miles up Hwy 67 to Cripple Creek with small shops, restaurants, and some of Colorado's only casinos! **We do highly suggest 4WD during the winter months with the large amount of snow that the Colorado mountains get each year.

You'll have full access to the entire cabin, including the surrounding forest. There is lots of Bureau of Land Management (Colorado public) land around here as well! There's plenty of room for parking, just make sure not to block the road.

The Neighborhood:
You'll be just 0.8 miles off Highway 67, and under 4 miles (7 minutes) to Cripple Creek. You'll drive through a county area that is an eclectic mix of million-dollar mansions and old shacks on your way to the cabin. The 0.8 mile drive off the highway is on a maintained dirt road (and plowed in the winter). You'll turn right after a trucking yard, pass a few houses, and come to this cabin near the end of the road.

Getting Around:
If you're looking to walk around, hike, or bring your bike/ATV/etc. there's plenty of room around here. If you're looking for food or shopping or gambling at the casino, Cripple Creek is just 7 minute drive away, and you can get to Divide in 25 minutes. Colorado Springs is 1 hour away. If you're wanting to hit the slopes, Breckenridge and Monarch are both about 2 hours away. **We do highly suggest 4WD in winter months.

Other Things to Note:
AT&T and T-Mobile users do not get good signal here. Verizon and Sprint seem to be good (LTE). We do have fast wifi to help you stay connected, and you can use wifi calling.

Interaction with Guests:
This is a remote area and we will not be onsite. If you have trouble we can be reached by phone and can make recommendations on who to call in case of emergency. We do have exterior cameras for monitoring to ensure rules are followed and for safety.

The property is definitely a bit remote - took us about 30 minutes into Breckenridge - and a high-clearance or 4WD vehicle is probably best on these roads. I had a low-clearance Tesla Model 3 which was able to get in there driving slowly and avoiding some bumps - but otherwise very easy. Overall, it is a lovely property with comfortable, spacious accommodations. We had a group of 7 adults, 5 children and 2 dogs - and everybody (maybe especially the dogs:) loved the place! Thanks so much to Tina and her crew for making this such a memorable stay. We will definitely be back!"

★Driving Conditions★
Its highly recommended that you have AWD or 4x4 to access the property from Sept to May. The roads are well maintained but with an elevation of 9,200 feet snow can and will come at any time. Additionally, we do our best to keep the driveway cleared of snow with a plow service after any significant snowfall. Therefore please be prepared for snow, it can easily disrupt your plans!

Summary:
This modern yet rustic mountain home is tucked out of the way in a dense forest, with sweeping views of of the forest and the back side of Pikes Peak. You won't believe how peaceful it is! Yes, there is good WiFi! You're just a few miles up Hwy 67 to Cripple Creek with small shops, restaurants, and some of Colorado's only casinos! **While the road is plowed, during winter months we do recommend 4WD for the large snow amounts Colorado mountains get each year.

We affectionately call this spot "Park Ridge Lodge" as a fun nod to the original Park Ridge mining claim it sits on. This impressive, completely remodeled modular is 1200 sqft all on one level, with a large family room and kitchen area so you can spread out. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. You'll have 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, and 1 twin bunk bed, plus a sleeper sofa.

The Neighborhood:
You'll be just 0.8 miles off Highway 67, and under 4 miles (7 minutes) to Cripple Creek. You'll drive through a county area that is an eclectic mix of million-dollar mansions and old shacks on your way to the cabin. The 0.8 mile drive off the highway is on a maintained dirt road (and plowed in the winter). You'll turn right after a trucking yard, pass a few houses, and come to this cabin near the end of the road.

Getting Around:
If you're looking to walk around, hike, or bring your bike/ATV/etc. there's plenty of room around here. If you're looking for food or shopping or gambling at the casino, Cripple Creek is just 7 minute drive away, and you can get to Divide in 25 minutes. Colorado Springs is 1 hour away. If you're wanting to hit the slopes, Breckenridge and Monarch are both about 2 hours away. **4WD recommended for winter months.

Other Things to Note:
AT&T and T-Mobile users do not get good signal here. Verizon and Sprint seem to be good (LTE). We do have fast wifi to help you stay connected, and you can use wifi calling.

Interaction with Guests:
This is a remote area and we will not be onsite. If you have trouble we can be reached via messenger and can make recommendations on who to call in case of emergency. We do have exterior cameras for monitoring to ensure rules are followed and for safety.

Wildlife, including bear, mountain lion, moose, deer, and rodents are common. You may see an occasional spider, field mouse, etc. So if these concern you, our place may not be a good fit.

The Sliding Glass Door entrance is accessible from a walkway and ramp on the right side of the home. The living room has a heart-warming pellet fireplace, La-Z-Boy sofa recliner and a 58" HDTV with surround sound. Also behind the TV are a set of Bluetooth headphones for a guest that needs a little more volume. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed and a dedicated work area with a 22" HDTV. Guests will have access to the whole space except our storage and supply closet located at the back of the master bedroom. Reservations of 4 nights and longer will be given access to this closet for laundry facilities. The Neighborhood:
The chalet is located in a very quaint and picturesque subdivision of Woodland Park. It is very safe and mainly formed of vacation or second homes. Our permanent residents are very welcoming and accommodating to travelers and guests. Please return the respect and curtesy.

Getting Around:
An AWD vehicle is highly recommended year round and a MUST during snow season ( October - May) due to dirt roads and driving conditions. There are 3 ways of accessing the chalet within the subdivision. Maps will direct your through the fastest route which happens to be very treacherous. You will be receiving an alternate, friendlier route post booking. Please read all messages carefully and print them out or take screenshots on your phone if you choose to not use a navigation app during your trip.

This chalet makes a good home base for trips to many nearby tourist attractions including Manitou Springs, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, The Manitou Incline, Seven Falls, Old Colorado Springs, U.S. Olympic Training Center, North Pole Santa’s Workshop, Eleven Mile State Park, Cog Railway and many others.
Guests who love the outdoors will find great hiking, biking, 4-wheeling, golfing, fishing nearby.

Other Things to Note:
We pride ourselves in providing a clean and tidy space for all our guests. Due to high interest and accepting same day reservations, we want to allow our cleaner all necessary time to thoroughly complete cleaning and disinfecting tasks. For this reason we are not able to accommodate late checkout requests. Please plan accordingly and book the correct amount of days as to allow for a prompt 11 AM checkout time. A late checkout fee of $150 will be added to your reservation costs if house is not vacant by 11:30 AM.

The beautiful yet remote location comes with its own drawbacks.
The roads leading to the chalet are dirt roads with some steep inclines. Driving an AWD is highly recommended year-round and a MUST during snow season (October - May). Roads get cleared of snow and maintained by our local group of volunteers which might cause delays at times especially during very heavy snow storms. Please keep your schedule flexible when forecast warns for heavy snow storms, mainly prevalent but not exclusive to February and March.

Also water for the chalet DOES NOT come in unlimited supply. It is stored in an underground cistern tank and fill-up service needs to be scheduled ahead of time with our local water service supplier. It is safe to drink and use for cooking. However we must ask that you are mindful about water preservation. Do not leave faucets or shower running if not in use, run full loads in the dishwasher and laundry washer, limit hand washing dishes if possible and ensure your reservation includes the correct number of guests. Please note that, for the same reasons, laundry facilities is available only for reservations of 4 nights or longer.

Restricted mobility guests: Access to and from the house requires you climb and/or descent several steps to reach the building plus the deck stairway showed in the second picture. The interior of the chalet is set on three levels with the master bedroom on the ground level, accessible through a sliding door from outside and down a flight of stairs from the main level on the inside. Shared living spaces, living room, kitchen, dining area and main bathroom are on the main level (second story) and the loft bedroom including two queen size side-by-side beds is on the third level. To reach that you will need to climb another stairway. Lots of steps which might not be ideal for guests with restricted mobility. Please check in with your group to ensure this is not an issue before booking.

Interaction with Guests:
Your host lives and works in Woodland Park, about 20 minutes away. She is easy to reach via messaging system or by text or phone call for emergencies. Phone number is available post booking.

- "We absolutely loved our stay at this home!! It was my husband, myself and three kids ages 5, 7, 9. The house was so clean, well organized, clearly well maintained, the hosts were very attentive and always quick to respond/great communication, the beds were comfortable, the towels and linens were great quality, the kitchen was fully stocked with anything you might possibly need. All in all, this property far exceeded my expectations. We also saw lots of wildlife; deer, wild turkeys, and we think we saw a bear one evening. We did not spend much time in the Woodland Park area but rather used the cabin as a middle point for day trips in the area. One day we went to Cripple Creek and did the railroad and mine tour (which ended up being our favorite activity), another day we went to the Cave of the Winds (avoid going here on a weekend, way too many people), and the last day we drove up to 11 mile reservoir and went fishing and the kids caught minnows and crawdads and had a great time in the crystal clear lake. The biggest downfall was that the house is a little farther off of highway 24 than I anticipated. But the drive is pretty and it was not a huge deal. Great trip, house and memories in the area!!"

The space
The Trail House is a great mountain getaway located just 15 minutes from the small town of Woodland Park. Guests enter through the front door which is three steps down from the parking area. Our home is comprised of 3 levels - the main floor which includes the living room, bathroom, kitchen, and dining area. Upstairs is a loft with a queen bed and downstairs are a full and twin bed, another bathroom, and utility room, with a washer and dryer, and a place to hang clothes. There are two decks the larger of which is located off the main floor and includes outdoor patio furniture along with a wrought iron table, umbrella and set of chairs. The other is located outside of the sliding door on the lower level. There is a private backyard but often it is covered with native plants.
On the drive up from Woodland Park you will have the chance to see some of Colorado's iconic wildlife such as elk, mule deer, fox, and wild turkeys. You'll also have some spectacular views of Pikes Peak.
From the summer festivals in Woodland Park, to the eclectic shops in Manitou Springs, to world class trout fishing, hiking and ATV trails, to numerous state parks and national forest recreation areas, to the excitement of casinos in Cripple Creek (which boasts the highest casino in the world!), not to mention all the activities in nearby Colorado Springs, highlighted by the Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, and Manitou Cliff Dwellings. We are confident that there is something for everyone to enjoy!

***4WD or AWD is recommended during the spring, fall and winter since guests may experience winter conditions at any time, and Host is not responsible for guest towing.

Also, when using water (flushing the toilet, bathing, washing hands, laundry, dishes, etc.) you will hear the motor-type sound of our pump as it refills the tank. This is normal, and typically runs in short bursts. The pump is located in the laundry room under the stairs.

⇹ There is no central AC, which is the norm in Woodland Park as temps are usually moderate and evenings are cool. If it is summer time, Keep the shades closed during the day and open windows for cool breezes in the evenings.
⇹ There is a Ring Doorbell camera at the entryway. It can view the entryway and the hot tub. Live footage and does not record. We give you your privacy and the camera is only there should issues arise.
⇹ EV charger requires a Tesla adapter for Tesla vehicles. Please bring your own.
⇹ There are 3 Smart TVs available - 1 in upper level, 1 in lower level, and 1 in the Primary bedroom. You are welcome to use your own login to any apps you would like. Please remember to logout prior to checking out!
⇹ Woodland Park is a high altitude mountain town. Starter supplies for Boost Oxygen are provided to use and guests are responsible for their own care thereafter. We are not doctors and cannot guarantee you will not experience altitude sickness. Please do what you think is necessary to stay healthy if you are sensitive to high altitudes.
⇹ We recommend taking it easy on the first day, drink plenty of water prior to arrival, start in the Springs, drink Electrolytes, and Coconut water. Avoid heavy exertion and limit alcohol the first few days.

Trash to Curb Service
-Our neighbor comes to the property either on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning to take the trash bins from the shed to the bottom of the driveway. She is an adult female. (Also, please be aware that Amazon drivers typically put deliveries in the shed and are authorized and safe to be on the property)

Upon entering the home, you will be welcomed into the open concept living area, your jaw will drop. Like a rustic yet elegant cathedral, the sitting area soars two stories high, showcasing a back wall of windows that frame a breathtaking view of the Rockies. A dramatic open staircase supported by towering timbers climbs to a loft bedroom above that shares the view. Ample leather seating is bathed in the light of the windows and enjoys the warmth of a nearby fireplace. A wall-mounted TV stands to the side and a door leads to the outdoor living space.

Flowing from the sitting area into the dining/kitchen area, you’ll find a dining table for 8 and a gigantic granite breakfast island with stools for 5. A warm, inviting and spacious kitchen provides every convenience for preparing loving home meals, including a suite of stainless steel appliances: a French door refrigerator, range, microwave, and dishwasher. You’ll make good use of the coffee maker, toaster, tea kettle, cooking utensils, cutting boards, and a complete set of chef’s knives.

Standing on opposite sides of the open concept living area, you’ll find spacious bedrooms with king-size beds, TVs, large closets, and sliding glass doors with mountain views leading to a house-hugging deck, each side with outdoor seating for two. A lower level provides even more living space for big groups of up to 12, including a large family room with a plush L-shaped sofa and chairs centered before a jumbo TV, with a new surround sound system to enjoy your favorite movies and sports- plus a table for 4, perfect for games or casual meals. Behind the home, a clearing provides a wide, glorious view of the mountains, which can be enjoyed from several vantage points. Sleeper Sofa Linens:
A linen set and extra pillows are in the master closet. If used, leave the sleeper sofa open with the sheets on for housekeeping to remove.

Tv & Streaming:
The living room Tv offers both Xfinity Stream and Roku. The master Tv has Xfinity Stream, and the second-floor Tv has Roku for streaming. If you log into Amazon, Netflix, or other streaming services, please log out before checking out.

Washer & Dryer:
Stackable washer and dryer is located in the master closet, with detergent provided in the closet or under the kitchen sink.

Electrical Panel:
Is located in the master bedroom should a breaker trip.

Cool Air:
There is No air conditioning in this home. Open the windows to create a cross breeze of cool mountain air. There is a portable fan in each bedroom.

Thermostats:
This home has five thermostats controlling the baseboard heaters—one in the master bedroom, two in the upstairs bedroom, one in the kitchen/dining area, and one in the living room. Do not place clothing on heaters, as this is a fire hazard. When checking out, set all thermostats to 60 degrees.

Talking Trash:
Trash bags are provided under the kitchen sink. When the kitchen trash is full, please take the bagged trash to the compactor next to the clubhouse during your stay.

Light Bulbs & Batteries:
Extra batteries are in the kitchen cabinet above the microwave. For hard-to-reach ceiling lights, please contact us, and let us know if you’d like it done during your stay or after check-out. Be sure to include the property name in your email.

Our Gated Resort amenities are available before your check in time! The clubhouse is 8am-10pm with Heated Indoor Pool, 2 hot tubs, gym, laundry room, game room & reading room! All outside activities including basketball, sand volleyball, tennis, pickleball, Playground, fire pit, dog park, etc. Use of Tennis raquets/volleyball, basketball & pool towels in unit or on back deck. The National Forest Trails are at the back of the resort & go into Downtown Breckenridge.
Port-a-crib & purified water in unit.
Extremely convenient location with quick access to everything inside the gated community and really close to Downtown Breckenridge and Frisco.

EARLY CHECK-IN/LATE CHECK-OUT

REQUESTS:

If you need special accommodations with early check-in/late check-out, we will gladly help UPON AVAILABILITY. Early check-in fee is $50, payment to be provided upon request. Late check-out requests are not easily attainable as our staff needs to properly sanitize and clean before the next guests arrive. In the event we do not have a reservation following yours, we will gladly accommodate for a $50 fee and move our cleaning crew to a later schedule or help you extend for the day or night at a special rate. All late check out requests need to be submitted before 830pm the evening prior to check out.
