The Neighborhood:
We love our location! Though we are only 1.5 miles from the many restaurants, coffee joints, bars and shops on Haywood Road, we enjoy a quieter West Asheville vibe with off-street parking and streets lined with sidewalks for peaceful evening strolls. We are also just 5 miles west of vibrant Downtown Asheville and a mile from access to the major roads that take you to the best state and national forests in our area. We are just 6 miles from Bent Creek Experimental Forest, The NC Arboretum and the Blue Ridge Parkway, ideal destinations for hiking and cycling. Biltmore Estate and Asheville Outlets are merely 6 miles away as well.

Getting Around:
Parking on Haywood Road in West Asheville is limited. Generally, look for street parking or turn into a neighborhood and park on one of the side streets. For Downtown parking, we usually head to one of the parking garages if we don't see metered street parking. Biking or to Haywood Road during the day is also an option and is about 1.5 miles. Uber and Lyft operate in our area, and Asheville Taxi is a good option as well, though you would likely need to meet them at the top of our driveway.

Other Things to Note:
Stephanie and Graham and their two children live and work upstairs and have been a part of the Asheville community for several decades. They are happy to share their local knowledge with you. In the suite, they provide a list of some of their favorite places to dine, relax and explore.

This is our personal library of books so we please ask that you leave the books behind at the end of your stay.

The hallway doubles as a workspace and is equipped with a desk for those needing to work while staying with us. The bathroom is newly remodeled with a tile floor and shower. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided. There are few complimentary toiletries in the mirror medicine cabinet and make-up towels and a hair dryer have been provided for your convenience.

☆☆ OUTDOOR AREA ☆☆
The front deck where you enter provides ample room for relaxation and is equipped with full outdoor dining. There is also a dog run in the back of the yard, a charcoal grill provided along with grilling utensils (charcoal and lighter fluid are not provided), and a large private back deck. We do have black bears that pass through the neighborhood so it is necessary to bring all food items inside at the end of the evening and to cover the grill.
Other things to note
This home is located a few hundred feet off of a one-way gravel drive with 4 other homes. The road is not steep and very manageable in any vehicle. There is plenty of parking for 3 vehicles. This home is located in a residential area near other homes, the closest being across the gravel road from this one (see photos), but the home and decks still feel very private because of the trees.

We like to remind guests and first time visitors that Asheville is teeming with wildlife! Alongside the group of wild turkeys that frequent the backyard you will most likely see our neighborhood black bears during your stay - either one 1 larger lone male or a medium sized mother bear with 2 cubs. Please keep your distance, bring in all food items before going to bed each evening, and at the end of your stay please leave your garbage in the home. Our cleaning staff will take care of disposing of it.

Our check in time is 4:00 p.m. and our check out time is 11:00 a.m. We ask that you please be respectful of these times to allow our cleaning team adequate time to prepare the house for the next guests. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our home!

Our home is equipped with one Ring camera (outside only) and a smart lock on the front door for your peace of mind and security during your stay.

We are dog friendly! (sorry, no cats allowed at this listing due to allergies)- Each dog must be added to your reservation request when booking and a fee of $75 must be submitted with your reservation prior to booking. The number of dogs for this property is limited to 2 dogs. The pet fee is not per pet, it is just a flat fee.

You will notice that we have a library of books in our home. We encourage you to enjoy them during your stay but we please ask that you leave the books at home during your day to day adventures and at the end of your stay. This cabin is located on 20 acres of land off a private gravel road that is just off of Highway 321 in Blowing Rock. While we don't have many neighbors, the ones we do have are very friendly and you may see them driving by throughout the day. The cabin is situated at the top of the only road in and out of the community, so please make sure to not block the road in any way that could obstruct our neighbors' access.

Highway 321 will be cleared appropriately in winter months. As for the road off of 321 to this cabin, it is paved but in the event of inclement weather - 4WD or AWD is suggested in winter months.

While the road to the house does melt quickly, it can be tricky with snow.

If you’re headed further into the High Country, we’d encourage you to take a drive. We highly recommend taking the longer route on the Blue Ridge Parkway to get from where you are to where you’re going. If you’re looking for another scenic route, be sure to take Shull’s Mill road if you’re headed toward Banner Elk or Valle Crucis.

While you stay, there will be plenty of room to park. Feel free to park on the concrete next to the garage or on the gravel.

Before you pack up and head to the mountains, know that when we say mountains, we really mean it!
Dillsboro NC elevation starts at 1,975 feet. Think of this as your starting point. If you want to get a beautiful mountain view, you've gotta climb some mountains. Mountain roads are typically gravel, steeper, narrower and curvier than you may be use to driving. This is all part of our charm.
We do have one big hill to get up. It is gravel. We regularly drive a Hyundai Sonata up. While AWD vehicles make everything easier they are not required. Maintain an even speed (10mph) going up and you should have no issues. If you have Traction Control, you will do better turning it off going uphill.

- "Amazing oasis in the middle of a “bustling” part of Cherokee. The home is filled with excellent amenities, GE appliances, freshly renovated home with granite countertops in bathrooms and kitchen. Keurig AND coffee pot for coffee lovers. Usable and gorgeous wrap around porch with a side fire pit (s’mores included!). The Cherokee call this part of town Painttown and it is right next to Granny’s Kitchen- uber popular buffet with locals. Also about half a mile from Casino. Wheelchair accessible as well. The driveway is steep but well paved, the yard is gorgeous and very large with home located amidst the woods on three sides. The only unfortunate part is being up the road from the nighttime road crew pre0 area. Machinery noise in the evenings starting around 6pm-8pm. Go inside and you can’t hear it. There is liquor store in town, Cherokee reservation is no longer dry! "

The space
For extended stays only, this rustic vintage trailer is filled with warmth & brightness & a fun, with its comfortable and light decor.

There is an open floor plan with a living room and a kitchen area with a counter bar and four velvet barstools. There is also an authentic mid-century glass breakfast table with velvet tulip chairs which also seats four.

Follow the hallway to a small bedroom designed for kids (but can be adapted) with a single bed and then to a larger master bedroom with a high quality, luxury king size "Purple Mattress" brand bed. A very quiet space for sleeping!

In nice warm weather, enjoy the sizable deck and picnic table for two, and the extra "Florida Room" which is a seating area in addition of the living room of the main trailer, with lots of windows.

The trailer is at the top of the hill after following a long driveway. The neighbors have a small cow pasture next to the property with a small herd of angus cows that often eat grass in the evenings near the parking area. Down below are woods with lots of hardwoods, a creek (except when we have a drought) which flows into the nearby Rocky River and 2 large fields where deer like to graze. The bottom of the property adjoins the Rocky River.

Go for a walk down the road and pass by horses and cows. Hike through the woods and discover the river which flows over the dam from the town reservoir. Hike through the woods to an additional reservoir downstream.

There are often owls, coyotes, foxes and of course deer . These animals are all afraid of humans. Dogs should stay inside the large fenced yard or on a leash if concerned and/or if likely to be entertained by livestock. There are also birds galore, little rabbits, box turtles, and lightning bugs in summer.

Outdoors there is a sizable deck, a big fenced in yard, a secure chicken area and some raised beds for a garden. One has already been started this summer so you may reap the benefits. There is a small space for a bonfire. (Except in drought or dry conditions!)

All utilities and Wi-Fi are included in the price. In the summer lawnmowing service is provided every two weeks. Note that there is no dishwasher on site so dishwashing is all by hand. Other basic amenities are provided including a washer and dryer. A large 30 gallon hot water heater and a deep tub means it is possible to have a nice hot bath or long shower.

For fall and winter guests: The state of NC allows hunting in the woods from Thanksgiving to January. While it is only occasional that someone hunts in our neighborhood, it is generally always a good idea to wear bright colors if you go for a hike in the woods in winter in Chatham County.

"The Cozy Room' is a comfortable room close to Fort Bragg, VA Hospital, Hoke Hospital and major retail and eating establishments. This room is in a quiet, safe neighborhood. The Senator House is situated in a quiet safe suburban neighborhood.

The middle of the Senator House is called " Home Away from Home" it is a mid term stay for up to 90 days.

I am renting a bedroom in my renovated house near downtown Durham/NCCU. The house is old but cozy, and I’ve added chickens to the yard as my pets of choice. I also have five lovely cats, including Barly, Ora, Rascal, and more. I’m always working to make the house more welcoming and comfortable for guests.

The space
The house is a 2-story, 1947 cottage-style home with a total of 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, covering about 2000 sq. ft. I am renting 4 bedrooms, and reside in a blue-painted garage ADU.

NOTE: The house is located on the busy street across from NCCU.

Both bathrooms, as well as the kitchen, have been renovated. The kitchen now features a large gas stove, double quartz sink, wood countertops, and a huge French door-style fridge with filtered water from the sink (no need for bottles). The only part that hasn’t been updated is the basement, but you’ll only need it for laundry.

You will be sharing the bathroom with me or another guest. I provide body wash, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner (usually from Whole Foods—fair trade, organic, etc.) so you don’t need to buy your own unless you have a preferred brand. All bedrooms are freshly painted, and 3 of them have queen-sized beds/mattresses. There is also a deck at the back of the house. The location is across from North Carolina Central University, making it ideal for someone visiting a student, professor, etc. It’s also convenient for Duke students, as it’s within a 5-minute drive to downtown Durham (where there’s a lively, hip atmosphere) or to Duke University. A bus that can take you there runs along the same street.

Here are the expanded HOUSE RULES for long-term tenants, which I generally prefer. I require the house to be kept very clean, whether I’m present or not. If you plan to stay longer than a week, you will be responsible for taking out the trash, recycling (let’s keep the planet clean), and making sure any online order boxes are folded and recycled as well. Every Sunday, the trash bins need to be placed by the street for Monday pickup. You must respect other guests and never leave dirty dishes in the sink. One or two plates are okay, but nothing more, as another guest might need to cook and will need a clean space.

KITCHEN, STOVE & POTS: You must clean the stove right after cooking—do not leave grease, or oil on handles, or spills. Everything must be cleaned once you finish cooking, not the next day. I provide cookware, but there are a few items I reserve for myself, such as a blue casserole by Tramontina and a yellow Great Jones casserole. Please handle the cookware gently—do not scratch or burn it. Use wood or silicone spatulas. I’ve had guests ruin pans after just three months of use, and I’m trying to avoid that now. You must cook during regular hours—no cooking at midnight or later. Keep countertops dry around the sink, and do not place hot pots or other hot items on them. Do not use them as a cutting board. The same rules apply to the dining table—it’s only for plates and eating or studying with your computer. You are also encouraged to sweep the floor. I keep cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink, and the broom is usually by the door leading to the deck. If you need help finding anything, just ask me. Please remove spoiled food from the refrigerator. The fridge is divided into four sections, so keep your items in your designated area.

BATHROOM: Keep the bathroom clean. Flush and clean the toilet after use. Do not leave shaved hair or toothpaste in the sink. Cleaning supplies are usually under the bathroom sink. Dry the floor with a mop after using the shower, and take the bathroom rug outside to dry once it gets wet.

BEDROOM: You’re also required to keep your bedroom relatively clean. This means no leftover food or beer cans for days. When you leave, you must empty your room of all your belongings, take dirty bed sheets (not the blanket but the duvet cover) to the laundry bin, and sweep/vacuum the room, including the corners and under the bed. You must also empty the refrigerator and cupboards of your food supplies. Failure to follow these rules will result in an additional $30 cleaning charge.

My cleaning standards may seem overwhelming to some, so please read them carefully before booking to make sure this is the right place for you. I don’t want anyone to feel pressured beyond their limits.

Please note that since the house is old, there may be minor issues that could bother you. Don’t hesitate to contact me immediately if you find something like an old nail or anything else that needs fixing.

During your stay
I am friendly, and always glad to give advice or recommend something about Durham. If I get tough than mostly about cleaning. My main requirement is to keep house clean. The bedroom you are in and the common area. For most of the part I am often traveling so you will have plenty of space to yourself.

Other things to note
House is located on a busy road so you must be aware of the rush hours usually at 7, 8 AM, or around 4-5. Because of that, it is sometimes difficult to pull in and out of the driveway.

I also have a rooster on the property, thus if you are a light sleeper or not an early riser perhaps this is not the ideal place for you. Unless you are willing to use ear plugs.

My cat Barley is an in-and-out cat, I ask everyone to make sure she sleeps inside, just in case when I am not around to check on her.
