One television was in the king-sized bedroom, and the other was downstairs in the sitting room. Bathrooms were pristine and have either new or nearly new appliances. Both also have exhaust fans and heaters. The drawbacks to the property are few. One was the lack of a dryer and the wifi is weak. However, those are not big deals to us. We would go back to Douglas's cottage in a heartbeat. "

Situated at the end of stunning Glen Etive, it overlooks Loch Etive and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Sleeping 6 in bunk beds, it has recently been renovated to accomodate groups of hikers. mountian bikers, etc. Availble for a 2 nights minimum stay, but for as long as you wish, it's the ideal base for exploring all that Glen Etive, the River Etive and Loch Etive have to offer.

The space
Situated at the head of Loch Etive, next to our holiday house Hollybank, The Bothy is an 18th century building, found at the end of the road that leads down the glen. From the A82 it is a 13 mile drive along a single track road, passing through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Scotland. It is secluded, suiting those in search of peace, quiet and solitude. Being 20 miles from the nearest amenities in Glencoe and Ballachulish it is important to be well stocked before you arrive!

The Bothy is designed with outdoor pursuits in mind so there is a lovely log burner, a drying room, a well equipped kitchen, and a lovely hot shower, provided by a gas boiler to heat the water and the house - and all with stunning views south down Loch Etive.

Guests who book Gualachulain Bothy have exclusive use of the whole property.

Please note that bedding and towels are not provided. Please therefore bring sleeping bags. Towels can be rented for a small charge - please ask about this when booking.

For all guests, but winter guests especially, it is important to note that The Bothy is in a remote part of the highlands. Ensure you have plenty of petrol (petrol stations are in Tyndrum, coming from the south and Glencoe Village, coming from the north) and plenty of provisions (the nearest supermarket is in Ballachulish, 20 miles away).

In the winter, a car with 4-wheel drive and winter tyres is a definite advantage!

In the summer Glen Etive is a popular visitor destination so be prepared to share the glen with others.

The Bothy now has WiFi.

To keep the price down we do not provide bedding and towels but if you do not have room to carry them just let me know before your visit and for a small charge we will supply.

We are in Cairngorms National Park, Highlands of Scotland, just outside the historic town of Grantown-on-Spey. We are 14 miles from Aviemore train station and 32 miles from Inverness.

The space
Beautiful, quiet locality within walking distance to the River Spey, nestled in the beautiful Spey valley overlooking the Cromdale hill range. Marvellous space for artists and those seeking wildlife and an escape in the country.

There are Whisky Distillery Tours, beautiful mountain and woodlands walks, osprey nesting & terrific bird watching locally. There’s trout and salmon fishing on the river Spey, golf, tennis, family activities. Great for everybody.

Set in beautiful rural Perthshire, Windywhistle Cottage is a very well appointed cottage located in the Village of Madderty.

Crieff, Auchterarder, Gleneagles and Perth are all within a twenty minutes drive and there is easy access to Edinburgh and Glasgow, both are approximately one hours drive.

The space
Windywhistle Cottage is accessed from the road via a well maintained private track and although it is attached to Windywhistle House, it is totally self contained and very private with it’s own garden.
There is a shed for the storage of bikes, golf clubs etc and plenty of parking is available next to the cottage.

Accommodation is all on one level with a fully fitted kitchen and an open plan living and dining room with patio doors and lovely views to the rear garden.

The full bathroom has an electric shower over the bath.

A travel cot and high chair are available for any guests visiting with infants, please note that bedding for the cot is not provided.

Airlies Farm Cottage lies nestled in the heart of the Wigtownshire hills. Situated 90 meters above sea level, the Farm is surrounded by wildlife, with stunning views by day, and the bright stars of the Galloway dark sky park by night (unless it's raining!).
Our 150 year old Scottish farm cottage has been lovingly renovated with handmade furniture and soft furnishings to provide you with the luxury you deserve, while you relax, unwind, explore or chase an adventure.

The space
Airlies Cottage is a traditional single story cottage, consisting of one Bedroom with en-suite bathroom, Living room, utility room, separate toilet, kitchen and conservatory.
The bedroom hosts a king-size bed with a selection of pillows to suit, bedside tables with lamps, a dressing table enclosed in the wardrobe with hangers, hairdryer, full length mirror and additional bedding.
The en-suite bathroom consists of a full length bath with shower. A grab rail is installed to aid stepping in and out of the bath. Toilet and hand basin and towel rail with sumptuously soft towels and face cloths. There are dispensers containing bubble-bath, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, to use during your stay and extra large towels in the wardrobe for that added luxury.
The sitting room is the heart of the home with it's wood-burning stove and bucket of logs (More logs can be purchased if required). Here you will find a double sofa and double sofa bed (bedding for this is in the wardrobe). you will find a bookcase with light reading material and a radio ,along with a large writing desk, TV, USB charging plug and games and jigsaws in the draws of the desk.
The kitchen and conservatory are combined. The kitchen area is fully equipped with electric double oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, a full compliment of pans, crockery, cutlery, cups and glasses. There are recycling containers and a vaccum cleaner under the sink.
The conservatory has the best views of all, and has a extendable dining table (for doing jigsaws and for using the table top ironing board should the need arise). there are two reclining armchairs for simply enjoying the view by day and stargazing by night in our wonderful dark skies park.
Finally we come to the utility room, with an additional toilet, Utility sink, washing machine, and cleaning cupboard, with compact airing rack, basket with pegs and Iron (the ironing board is hanging in the bedroom wardrobe)
The Garden has table and chairs from April to October, a fire pit, washing line and a composting bin for emptying your vegetable matter should you fill the kitchen composting container during your stay.

Following the directions that will be sent to you prior to your arrival, they will bring you up a farm track to the cottage door, where there is parking for two cars (we can provide more parking if you are inviting friends to visit you for the day)
Entrance is via the side door, where you will find your key and a tea tray ready for you to just switch on the kettle.

Due to our rural location, we suggest shopping for food in Aldi, Sainsburys or the Co-op in Newton Stewart before you arrive, as we are 13 miles from these supermarkets. There is a small Co-op 5 miles from the cottage for essentials. For specialist diets, we recommend bringing initial supplies with you. Dairy and gluten free are limited locally, but more variety can be found 25 miles away in the town of Stranraer.
Fresh eggs are available at the farm drive.

Cars
The nearest bus stop to our location is 4 miles away. you will need a car to get around. The closest charging point for electric cars is 5 miles away in Wigtown, and the closest fuel station for petrol and diesel is 4 miles away on your way into Wigtown. If you require LPG. this is 13 miles from the cottage in Newton Stewart.

If you’re looking for adventure, bring your paddle boards, kayaks, bikes and walking boots. We’ve got wild swimming, hill walking, 7 Stanes mountain bike centre, several different beaches, Galloway activity centre, Galloway canyoning, beach fishing, boating lake and more
For busy days out and about exploring the area we have Book town (Wigtown), Food town (Castle Douglas), Artist town (Kirkcudbright), whisky tours, gin tours, swimming pools, cinema, Lochs, Gardens, Wild goats and the Red deer range and of course Our World-famous belted Galloway cows and Dark sky park.
If you want history, we’ve got that covered too, from houses, to towers, churches to castles and lighthouse to standing stones.
But if you’re just wanting to relax in nature, we can offer beautiful surroundings with nature at your door, jigsaws, games and books to read in the garden in the sun, or snuggled up in front of a roaring fire wrapped in a Blanket. Take a 30-minute drive for a spa treatment, or possibly book a massage in advance to come to the cottage. Take a browse in Scotland’s national book town and enjoy coffee and cake in the local cafes. Pop over to Rural swim on a neighbouring farm and make use of their endless pool with hydro therapy, a gym and hot tub, even just a gentle stroll along the road from the farm and see if you can catch a glimpse of the wildlife eating our crops.

The Farm
This is Scotland! we get a lot of rain and this is a working farm. Please bring wellies. white Nike air max trainers just aren’t going to cut it!
Being a working farm there may be time during the season when tractors or machinery need to work late into the night or in the early hours of the morning. We try to keep this to a minimum, but so much depends on the weather we can only apologise if we disturb you.

Workshops
Your host has a soft furnishing studio in the yard and offers craft workshops, such as make your own lampshade, Air dry clay decoration making, Macrame, make your own bunting, make your own cushion etc If you are interested in booking a workshop please ask for price list in advance of your stay. any workshops must be booked in advance.

An initial supply of beverages, diluting juice and milk will be available for you to get you through the first evening.

A travel cot, baby bath, potty, highchair, books and toys are available on request.

Beach towels are available and situated in the bookcase draw

All candles are battery operated, please DO NOT light. The bedroom and bathroom candles switch on underneath and the sitting room candles are remote controlled. Remote control is on the desk.

Hawthorn Cottage is part of a recently converted steading building set within stunning farm land in the Highlands just off the North Coast 500 tourist route. Fishing is available in two small lochs on the owners land, there are plenty of walks from your doorstep..Invergordon is about 2 miles away for shopping, booked together with Juniper Cottage, Woodpeckers Nest, The Foxes Den or Heathfield House, a larger party could be accommodated. Maximum 2 dogs only

The space
One of four properties, the cottage has been renovated and furnished to a very high standard with an open plan lounge/dining area and a modern fully equipped fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, freezer and everything you could need to make your stay comfortable. Downstairs there is a large modern bathroom with shower. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with king size bed and a twin (with 2 single beds) . The cottages stand in farm land surrounded by beautiful peaceful scenery and have their own parking, garden furniture and a shed for bikes! All bedding and towels are included, as is all power and heating.Fishing is available in two small lochs on the owners land at no extra cost (please ask for details) and there are plenty of walks from your doorstep. Keep your eyes open in the evening and morning as the red deer gather in the fields just near the house, osprey fish in the two small lochs and otters live in the burn nearby. There are also foxes, red legged partridges, hares and ducks on the ponds.Invergordon is about 2 miles away for shopping, and there are plenty of distilleries, golf courses, walks etc. to keep you busy and is a regular stopping off point for the cruise ships, as it boasts one of the deepest natural harbours in Europe.

Stables Cottage has an open plan living/kitchen/dining area overlooking Wigtown Bay and the Galloway Hills.
Granary has two bedrooms (1 master with double bed and one twin room with single bed and high sleeper bunk), bedding and towels are provided. Bathroom has a good sized bath with over head shower. A comfortably furnished lounge has a wood burning stove, leather sofa, tub chair, flat screen TV and DVD.
The cottage has direct access to the playpark and a patio area for you to enjoy the views.

The space
Our cottages are set around a traditional farm courtyard with games barn, playpark, laundry room and heated indoor pool (open April to end of September). Set back from a quiet side road overlooking Wigtown Bay and The Galloway Hills beyond, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Stables sleeps a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children.

Guests can access the courtyard, playpark, games barn and pool as well as extensive grounds to explore.
